I think the key in this scene was that she didn't stop loving him over the cheating or anything like that, she stopped loving him after she realized that his status wasn't what she thought - that he was a nobody farmboy with a fake name. She didn't care about him, she cared about "living the dream" so to speak. They were both using each other, they were both cruel to each other. It's not as simple as one vs the other.

Ugh I hate myself for ruining the moment, but I'm watching this on Netflix, I'm on season 3 ep.& and because I like to ruin stories (I'm weird) I already know what's going to happen in all the episodes. It saddens me to think they are divorcing. It made me even sadder when I found out Don and Megan. I want him to be alone and think about Betty. She may have not been the warmest person, but she was good for him because he wasn't a warm man. Together, they have so much warmth. So sad. Makes me cry

I thinks it's so sad that he had to lose her to realise that he loves her et no one else and that chasing mistresses was just a way to run away from I don't know what.

He is an ass for everything he did to that beautiful woman who would have done everything to make him happy. He lost her by pushing her away and yet I feel sad for him. Some people have too lose what they have before they realise they love it and when they have it they have to destroy it. Some people just can't be happy.

Remember the time depicted here. For all of time till then, historicly expected modes of conduct for men in certain positions as displays of potential, colide with cultural changes all at once and no model to follow combined with job pressure unmatched till then. Husbands socially stable lives came to one sudden massive explosion, the  ripples of which we have yet to see settle as men spin in this social blender. Maybe we men of today deserve a little slack since your grandpas did way worse.

I think his extra marital activities were wrong, however, almost expected from his associates as a measure of his overall job potency or selling appeal specific to his type of employment. Required in an unspoken sense but basicly empty and detached with a fleeting physical pleasure quickly replaced by a sort of dred and sadness. All the while, working toward making a financially secure life to deserve the one woman on this pedestal which in his mind he hopes to be worthy of one day. complicated.

@Zigzag4me How was she cold? Don was an asshole towards her. She left because her marriage and life with Don were based on lies. Cheating, deception, fake names and personas. How would you feel if your spouse is like that? Stays away for weekends with his mistresses, misses big events like birthdays, spies on you by asking your therapist what you said in your session with him. Don humiliated her over and over and lied to her face countless times. I'd leave if I were Betty, too.
