how tight do you have to twist on the filter?? i took mines out for a dive today with only paper towels inside and the towels didnt get wet but in side the lens filled with water at the end of the dive, i was also wondering if using the sealant to seal the filter together with the other piece would prevent water breakthroughs...Anyone have an idea? please answer ASAP
@EastSideDivez Sorry for the late response, I have been very busy getting ready to release a new product from SRP! We will be making the announcement tomorrow! If you are having trouble getting the filters on tight enough, use a small amount of silicone GREASE on the threads, and a very thin film on the o ring. We had this in the trouble shooting section but we unfortunately had customers misinterpreted this and used the silicone adhesive that was included in the kit....Not good!
@davecox900 Dave the CY filter will be your best bet, It's designed to correct color from 25-60' but we have seen great results beyond the rating, it seems to vary slightly with visibility and light.
@Hardwyre The white balls are actually Activated Alumina, they function the same as desiccant but will no produce the dust, they are more of a ceramic material.
@Tarzan07330 This can be removed easily, just unscrew, pull the BlurFix off, and with minimal effort cleaning, you will be able to reinstall the stock seal lens and ring back to your GoPro, but I'm confident that you'll like the BlurFix and will never remove it anyways!
@Mr3ggy Yes, we have customers who spray Rain X or other similar products on the clear UV filter to shed water droplets, and we also offer a Circular Polarizing filter that will cut the glare from reflective surfaces such as snow, water, metal objects. Please check out our Facebook page for videos!
@supertrendy77351@supertrendy77351, The dick who uploaded this video apologizes! We haven't been getting notification from YouTube that there has been questions/comments, as the YouTube account is tied to a Google account and seems to be forwarding them to an email address that was never linked to our normal accounts associated with Snake River Prototyping.
I am very sorry, I will post a description that may answer your questions, or see our website, or Facebook wall, and feel free to email info @ snake river prototyping. com
BlurFix™ accessory for GoPro® HD Hero and GoPro® HD Hero2 cameras. BlurFix has been constructed to the finest standards. It will allow you to adapt almost any 55 mm filter to your GoPro camera providing you with countless filter options both above and below the waves. Our product is CNC machined from 6061T6 aluminum and is anodized black to provide you with a durable product that meets the highest optical quality standards.
@FixedByDoc this is a aftermarket product thats made specificly for the gopro housing, it make the camera focus perfectly underwater. the beads are to absorb moisture so that the lens does not fog up underwater. yes, this is not the best tutorial.
@ermaclob This is just an aid for installation, We have detailed instructions on our website with a link to our Facebook page with reviews and more videos that will help answer questions.
@FixedByDoc This is made by Snake River Prototyping, the purpose of the Activated Alumina beads (desiccant) is to absorb moisture that may get trapped between the screw in filter and the BlurFix Housing. They are reusable, just put into the oven at 170F for half an hour we include extras for your convenience, and can be reused many times. These beads absorb moisture very well and do not require changing between uses, and absorb the moisture within minutes.
The white balls are used to stop the inside of the Blurfix from fogging up, you still need to use another method of anti fog inside the main housing.
Out of the water you can use other filters like ND, CP etc Im testing some CP filters atm.
The housing is still rated the same as normal to 60m but the blurfix is limited by the filter you use. They rate the clear zeiko and ur-pro filters to 130ft ive had them down to 160ft
You can go to the Snake River Prototyping site to buy or get more info.
Any chance that you could use silicone grease instead of permanently adhering with silicone to the housing? One problem I could see is somehow scratching the GoPro dome port with the screwdriver or somehow scratching it when a filter isn't on. Other than that, it looks awesome. I'm still not sure why GoPro hasn't done anything to address the issue, but it's nice to see a solid third-party solution.
@gprobst We provide silicone sealant in the Kit, and can be removed/reapplied if need. We haven't tested just using silicone grease, but I would say that the pressure would push the grease into the housing causing it to flood the BlurFix housing. The beauty of the design is that it retains the factory seal and lens, so it will not enter into the camera housing even if the silicone is installed improperly (given the fact all screws are tight) or should the lens break if smashed into an object.
@shelfy did you find an answer to your question? i was wondering the same thing. all i could think of is the ability to put different filters on (polarized, etc.)...idk if the flat lens affects the clearity outside of the water though
@shelfy above water the benefits are using polarized lenses. i have a polarized lens now to reduce glare on water when i use this for shooting myself fly fishing.
@shelfy Yes the benefit above water that the BlurFix gives the ability of using polarizing filters,ND, and all your other options available in 55mm standard screw in filters, all filters sold by Snake River Prototyping have been modified by trimming the top, or the female thread down to have the lowest levels of vignetting. Please see our Facebook page for several examples of these levels, results vary due to the tolerances of the camera interfacing with the GoPro(R) housing.
If you need immediate response to a question, please email info@snakeriverprototyping (dot com)
