I must say that FPTP is utter rubbish. In NZ we have perfectly functional coalition governments and strong green and indigenous prescences in parliament that further satisfy a diversity of opinion.
The one percent of votes cast for the UK green party in 2005 may as well not have been counted for all they were represented in a parliament of 600. They deserved six seats but got none!

Government shouldn't fear the people, the differences in "votes to elect an X MP" are nonsense because an MP is elected by his constituency and is supposed to represent it, not be a digit for a party. And everyone has a right to pursue their interests, even the city, Murdoch, unions or other companies.
