  • @Goochlore So make a better video...

  • James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix, November 27, 1942] – September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in musical history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era across a range of genres....(Wiki) His name was actually Johnny!

  • great lesson ..awesome playin dude

  • lick 2 sounds like red house.... :)

  • lick me lick me baby

  • When I play my high strings sound like shit compared to the other strings.

  • This guy sounds like a murderer/rapist, but he plays guitar, and if he plays guitar he's alright in my book, no matter how many people he's killed!

  • Yeah man, that's what I"M talking bout!!

  • since when did hendrix start to play lead guitar for lamb of god

  • hey robert, im a big fan.

i got that same guitar... how you liking it

i think it was worth every cent.

loving the lessons, keep em up

  • Hey Dude!!

Love your work, you're really good :D

I play guitar myself too, and i like doing blues and rock ;D

Your blues in E lick helped me out :D

    Btw i'm 12 =D

    Well, anyway thankyou!!

  • does anyone know how I should pick this? I can only play it really slowly right now and I want to speed it up.

Alternate picking does not seem to work for me here.

  • The second lick he uses in red house alot... pretty simple and the first one kinds sounds more like stevie...

  • @brakspbfun stevie plays hendrix licks all the time

I recall at least 2 songs where Jimi uses both licks

  • Sounds more like Stevie Ray Vaughan...

  • @annolenno i was just about to say that

  • cool lesson

  • Good stuff

  • Good lessons and nice licks man. Thanks alot.

  • If only all"tuition" videos were as good as this .. ie shot so you can see where the fingers are,... played slowly when they need to be, and played in a way that shows you properly what the guy is doing. excellent

  • sounds like srv on speed

  • These Licks Don't Sound Like Jimi Hendrix!!! Where Is The Feedback And The Noises?

  • Jimmy is a bullcrap

  • are you using .9s? those strings sound very bright and thin

  • nice licks but bad tone

JH wouldn't stay it soo clean, though thank you

  • nice man thanks aLOT

  • thank you =))

  • great brain and finger exercise

  • nice scale ^_^

  • Sounds like the beginnig of Black Dog

  • @IcEbRiCk319 why did this get thumbs downed?

  • @IcEbRiCk319 your comment about it sounding like black dog got thumbs downed and i was just like "?"

  • Ohh, well it does when hes slowing down lol

  • @Silencer84 - just practice...keep working on your weaknesses and keep practicing... that's it...

  • these sound much more like SRV than Jimi... but theyre good none the less...

  • i cant keep my index finger barred on the B and E string, because i cant stretch my ring and middle finger far enough to bend with the index moving :( any help?

  • practice., your fingers will get it soon :)

  • try usin that pinky man

  • The pinky doesn´t give that bluesy sound, the ring finger is better...

  • @Silencer84 only practice, only practice

  • yeah, buy new pair of fingers

  • use a rubber band

  • Wasn't Jimi a lefty? :P

  • yeah. played a flipped right handed.

Whats that have do with playing licks?

  • You are really good teacher :-) . 5/5 !! Thanks!!!

    It helped me a lot.

  • This is an interesting comment. He is TEACHING. No two guitarists sound alike, even if they are copying the same artist.

So, bravo, Captain Obvious! Let's all enjoy and appreciate the insight this guy is giving us should we need it.

  • well said!

  • ur the typical fanatic son of a bitch, the guy is trying to help teaching jimi's licks and u come to talk about his feeling. this video is not about that

  • It's not irony that his names marshall and he plays marshall you turds.

    It's an interesting coincidence.

Ironic would be if he was called Jimmy crapatguitar Hendrix. Cos you know, he wasn't.

  • It's appropriate. The opposite of ironic!

  • @0mgh4xftw Irony is a dispraity between the truth and what you believe is going to happen. So yeah... You're right.

  • @0mgh4xftw i agree, people need to pay attention in english class and learn the difference lol!

  • @0mgh4xftw

The common meaning of irony only changed a few years ago, as part of an American process whereby mistakes become enshrined through repetition. "Reticent" is the latest victim, and is now used to mean "reluctant".

"Irony" includes situations where the meaning is not opposite, but only different, to the original intention. So unless he was named after Marshal amps, it is ironic that his name is Marshall. Irony also applies to feigned ignorance. This is nominative determinism.

  • jimi's father changed his name from maurice to marshall because the new friend of jimi's mother had the name maurice

  • actually, the name of the friend was Johnny. Jimi was first named Johnny Allen Hendrix. Dad changed it to James Marshall Hendrix, thus becoming Jimi.

  • Jimi's middle name was originally maurice but his dad changed it to marshall when he was around 4 years old........ironic huh?

  • his middle name was originally Allen

  • Actually, he was born Johnny Allen Hendrix. Then renamed James Marshall Hendrix by his father. (His mother wasn't around much.)

  • which doofus said jimi made marshall amps!!! thats a good one!! not heard that one before

  • People may say that because Jimi Hendrix's real name was James Marshall Hendrix. That being said it is funny that people think Hendrix made the amps.

  • it's still ironic due to the fact that his main amp was a marshall

  • Dude those licks were played before you or Hendrix were born.

  • The second lick sounds like the intro to Tin Pan Alley by SRV when it's slowed down.

  • Maybe SRV used the style from Hendrix.... most likely... not steal... it's a style.

  • James Marshall Hendrix = VIRTUOSO

  • jimi didn't make Marshall amps , he just played thru them live and in the studio he used Fender amps most of the time too by the way

  • What scale are you using?

  • You could think of it as the first box of the pentatonic scale with added notes from the dorian mode on the e and b strings and blues scale on the g string.

  • that's nice but it's not jimi style, it's some sort of stevie ray vaughan... but fucking good play

  • stevie ray was heavily influenced by jimi

  • yes, I know; but stevie had jimi style in his own style so he created some sort of jimi style texas blues... jimi had more pass notes than stevie and had his original sound and styl like the 2. lick. well; peace and bye :))

  • yeah it looks like he uses a B minor pentatonic and also hendrix tunes half step down sometmes if anyone wanted to try it ex. voodoo child nice vid

  • he also throws in some blues notes (diminished 5ths sometimes hope this helps you improvise like j.h.

  • very nice

  • youve got a nice playing style but u kinda just scared me when u talked

  • lol

  • lol

  • Good lesson!

  • You're a talented guitarist, both at playing and explaining!

    All the best to you,

    Marcel Ziul

  • sounds good what kind of amp/effect you use and what kind off pick ups

  • Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups and a Reverend Hellhound amp.

  • @petertorro its called your hands!

  • fuck thats fast!!!!!!

  • it's cool and good ... but it is not too fast!

  • why can you give this guy a thumb down??

I mean he's right it is cool and good.

not that easy, but it really isn't that fast..
