  • Where is the lesson?

  • @Wakkami The lesson ( Mp3's and tab ) can be downloaded at bluegrassbooksonline. The link is in the written introduction for each of the video lessons.

  • Thanks for that are you in the key of G?

  • @CFCNOTBUMMER

We are glad that you enjoyed it and yes, it is key of G.

  • MAN that was beeeeeeautffffullyyyy played. one of the best version i herd thus far ........thanks for posting this

  • can you put out foggy mountian breakdown?

  • @confederatedipper100

Due to copyright restrictions, we will not be doing it at this time.

  • I dont see the intro or the rythm in the tabs. Can you help me please

  • @oatmealpizza4u

The intro is included in the first measures of the tablature which can be found at our site, bluegrassbooksonlinedotcom. The chords needed to play are included in the tab as well. I did not notate the rhythm.I hope you enjoy the tune. Keep Pickin'

    Rick

  • the guitar is an early 90's 710. i have the same guitar. :)

  • @dmoss74

Actually, the guitar in this video is a late 80's 510.

  • @hunterman9kk The free tab and mp3's of the lesson that go along with this video can be found at our website, bluegrass books online .com

  • some great licks I can incorporate into my own version! Thanks!

  • First time I heard this was a few years ago. I learned how to play the beginning and have played it over and over again, while I've practiced the picking technique to full speed. Now I find it easier to learn the rest of the song. And I am looking forward to be able to play it in real Bryan Sutton full speed tempo.. haha! Blessings from the Faroe Islands.

  • This is what got it all started for me, thanks for the habit. Bought your book too, very helpful.

  • sweet you make it look way to easy

  • love it and i am on the fourth page and feel good

  • Looks like a 410 Taylor

  • @mtmini Maybe a 510 - Taylor's been making the 510 (mahogany & spruce, like a D-18) since the 80s, at the old Lemon Grove shop. Great guitars for bluegrass, and the strings aren't three inches off the neck, like some are. : )

  • what brand/model gutiar are you using in the video? Can't tell from here...sounds great...more than likely more than I can afford...thought it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway...thanks

  • Did u record by an external micropone or plugged?

  • only sol g rules!!!!

  • this song is ez to play

    but it takes practice

  • cool

  • Great channel keep up the good work !:D

  • beautifully played; i dont know bluegrass, but sounded lovely! :) nice vid.

  • This is a great arrangement...Ta for making the sheet available....This is the best ad I have ever seen for anything. Thanks

  • awesome !! 5*

  • Love that controlled pace. Sort of like watching card tricks in slow motion. Still kind of mysterious.

  • wonderful tune ive never heard this before i wonder if it would workout well if you used a sort of brush style like maybelle carter a beautiful never the less

  • que loco ...que buena....felictaciones. ..desde PERU

  • superb. adds new dimensions and depth. love it

  • hey there, is there tabs for this tune exactly in the lesson in your site

  • Yes, the Tab is a note for note transcription of the video, and can be found on our free lessons page at bluegrassbooksonlinedotcom. Have fun with it.

  • Best I ever heard, thanks for sharing your

    gift/talent with us.

  • you play really good, but you need to slow down, and explain how to play... not just show you playin'!

  • We have the tab and "play-along" jam tracks part of the lesson on our free lessons page at bluegrassbooksonlinedotcom.

  • that IS slowed down

  • that is like one of the most perfectly played songs Ive ever heard. Think Ive listened to it nearly 50 times. Keep up the fantastic work and beautiful picking.

  • Fantastic

  • I have been around Bluegrass music my entire life and I do believe that is the clearest most perfectly played song I have ever had the enjoyment of listening to.

    you are good my friend!

  • I've been playing guitar for about 2 1/2 years... and started learning a bluegrass tune 'Dixie Hoedown' a couple of days ago. Right now, I am just going to learn all of it first, and then work on speed. I have a little over half learned, but how long did it take you to learn these songs and have them up to speed? The song is in 190bpm, but I play it at 135bpm right now. :-/

  • Steve Kaufman, the only three time national flatpicking champion (the real contest in Winfield, KS), said in his video called "Picking up Speed" that he learned "Soldier's Joy" in about five minutes but it took him three years to get it up to speed.

  • That's the right approach. Learn the tune first, speed will come with time and practice.

  • Thanks so much for the video and the tab on the website. Superb and unique version of a melodious but standard tune. Is the slow tempo simply for instructional purposes or do you actually play in that relaxed, lilting manner when performing the song?

  • While not every grass tune needs to be played at "warp" speed, Blackberry usually does. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Is a recording available anywhere of you playing this version of Blackberry at full speed?

  • your technique has really nice flow, I'm not into bluegrass but I still think this is nice guitar music.

  • there are two guitars here but only one is shown... someone else is playing the chord background.

  • I recorded the backup intruments one at a time, and then improvised over that. Hope you enjoy it.

    Rick

  • Your very welcome.

    Carrie

  • The free tab and Mp3's for this and all of our other free lessons maybe downloaded at our website bluegrassbooksonlinedotcom. Hope you enjoy them, and keep pickin'

  • I listened all the way through and I missed the "Lesson" part of Bluegrass Guitar Lesson

  • Extraordinaire!

J'adore le toucher des cordes et celui du médiator.

    Encore bravo et merci!

  • thats some tight guitar playing mate

It was pretty long piece... is that improv or did you learn it note for note?

  • I wish I wasn't studying for a midterm right now, because this makes me want to play guitar. Subscribed... I'll come back later.

  • Within 10 minutes you've made my BB 10 times better. Thanks

  • That's a beautiful piece... very well played!

  • I must be missing the part where the "lesson" is...

  • The tab, Mp3's and lessons may be downloaded at our website, bluegrassbooksonline com. Hope you enjoy them,

    Keep Pickin'

    Carrie

  • good job man!

come to seee my video! : )

  • very nice.

  • is that a taylor? looks like one

  • Yes it is. A 1987 510 Taylor that I'll have forever.

  • Very good, easy to follow, clean, no chit chat and no egos! Thank you.

  • sweet pick'n although I have been playing this tune for years it is still one of my favorites. I have never played it quite like this and I can't wait to do so. Sounds sweet when its slowed down like that. Thanks for the post and Peace from Alaska for now.
