  • How and where do I adopt one of these great animals in Shelton, Washington. I am a lifetime doggie lover, have 3 dogs now. Just lost my Tank whos on my facebook, he was 17 and we were pet partners in the Delta Association, we visited the ill in hospitals. It was a wonderful time. I miss him so much.

  • Check it out just got my dog two weeks ago and everything they say about the retired racer is true...This grey is the best dog that I have ever owned. Never barks...Sleeps a lot...Easy to groom...Never a fight to do his ears and teeth...He's is just a polite dog to own.

  • This video is horrible. Not that Greyhound Racing is horrible but the video itself. Gives a totally wrong picture of what happens and this has been clearly made by an child who doesn't know what REALLY happens.

  • BALLS and owners might kill their greyhounds but if the dog is wasten money there is no point of actually having the dog to race and they would sale it but because its not good at racing and the owners have no room for the dog so they kill it and how i know this is because i have got 3 and their the best dogs i have ever had

  • does this happen in america?

  • @halomasterjdb not any more. Greyhound racing is 90 percent shut down here. The way to shut down greyhound racing is to support the building of casinos...that will put racing on its knees for good. The states illegalized the sport here...except for florida and texas....they shut them all down

  • Someone needs to stop this.

    Anything you do helps.

Just make sure people know whats really going on.

Ive met people that don't even know what greyhound racing is.

    <3 Keep supporting.

  • everyone watching this video I love that you are all adopting greyhounds and giving them homes but please do not judge all greyhound trainers by these images yes in America and Ireland mainly this does happen but know while sick twisted people do sometimes train and own greyhounds there are trainers out there who do try and help them and some re-home the injured and old instead of neglecting them so I ask please keep adopting the old and injured racers but don't judge every book by its cover.

  • I adopted a greyhound yesterday!!!!! I LOVE HER already!

  • we rescued a grey last week, neglected for 10 hrs a day.. poor girl, she is such a love. 45 mph couch potatoes!

  • hi there. I've just rehomed a rescue dog, first thought of as a whippet cross but could possibly be a grey hound. he currently looks like the dog in the video at 1:30. he's about 5 months old. was returned twice. I was told that it was his last few days, then he was to be put to sleep. couldn't believe how many lurchers / greyhounds there was in the pound and what state they were all in.. so sad, it was heartbreaking to see.. :o(

  • I've adopted 4 greyhounds. One had whipworm and an obvious race injury to her right rear leg. She had a litter of puppies. Of the 5 pups, 4 were probably culled, 1 raced. My other 3 are healthy great pets. This video needs to be redone for the of clarity. Pictures aren't enough, we need solid information. Tighten up the editing, dump the overused soundtrack, and give people an idea what really goes on. Find & correct the errors!

  • This isn't the whole story :L but it's well made apart from a few errors, loads of people have commented on it so you probably know :) all the best, peace.

  • @cuzurdumb123 I normally refrain from commenting to comments such as your own but since you have the nerve to try to come back and bully me about deleting my fish video, I feel that an ansewr is deserved.

    1) I deleted my video because that was posted in the year 2008 as a review video for walmart so I could emphisize on the use of the product I purchased. I admit the video is outdated but useful.

    2) I'm tierd of people like you being rude and flapping your vile and rude mouths.

  • alll wrong. these photo'a & videos taken totally out of context.

  • Your intentions are good but you have your message scrambled. Those gruesome pics are of the dogs not fast enough to race, not retired racers. They do not kill a champion race dog, they stud them out for breeding for a large fee. The idea is to get them out of the tracks and breeders BEFORE they end up like the pics.

  • they are beautiful dogs. only problem is the more that get adopted, the more the kennels and the breeders are compelled to keep breeding them and racing them. So, the real only way to stop it is to stop racing altogether.

  • i have a greyhound named bitsy and i also had a few more but they died.... :( cancer and kennel rash... well this video touched me but im just a teenager and very few people listen to me for what i have to say about it, im going to recomened this video to the ppl who try to agru agaisnt me.. thinks for the sad video :(

    :)

  • good video. isn't 3:10 a whippit though?

  • @dogpup23 An Italian greyhound, I think--that is my breed, altho I have a big grey as well.

  • My friends and i are making a patition.. because i am afraid that a sertain shelter is going to put down over 900 Greyhounds on December 31, 2009.

  • Thanks for your great work to save these wonderful animals! If you need any help I and my family and friends would be more than pleased to sign your patition form!

  • that would be great!!! We have until the 31st, maybe even the 29th, because they start killing the 30th of December.

    :)

  • i still think of my beautiful dogs who loved me and i loved them i think of them from time to time and sometimes get depressed about them they gave me so much joy i made sure i found them a home go bikini bomber dads boy

  • i race greyhonds for 4 years betwwen 1999 and 2002 i got all the dogs who peole were going to put down i had 15 at once i raced them i loved them and guess what they started winning and that kept them alive when they retired i made sure i found them all a home go to greyhond data and see ther names ella ella ella -bikini bomer - wongawilli maree-worthy warlock-dingadee-to name a few some peoplwein this sport are cruel but some treat6 there dogs as pets

  • thats not fair

  • dude thats messed up the dogs should race for fun and enjoyment not so other people can make money off of them..... stop the cruilty

  • Great video! It makes me sick that these greyhounds are practically 'dumped' when they are not champions, become injured, or become too old to race. The lucky ones are adopted, re-homed, and live wonderful lives but far too many are being killed. It is the responsibility of these people who race these dogs to care for the dogs' entire lives. Each of these dogs deserve to live out their life. Horse-racing is also another sad industry.

  • my family loves grayhound. the racing isont the bad thing its the way they are treated. grayhounds racing is there exersise. so if they got treated better behined the races all would be ok i think.

  • What a terrible practice... humans are so cruel. Luckily I have managed to convince my parents to let us adopt and foster the retired greys from Mexican tracks.

  • :D You have no idea how happy that makes me that your giving those poor dogs a chance!

Here are a few things that you will have to work on with your greyhounds though. - teach them how to play - they dont know how :( - teach them how to climb stairs - they are scared of them - teach them how to except love by giving it to them :)

besides that, i think ur set! Just another tip, to find the age, look at the dogs ear. the numbers are the month, day, and year. :D :)

  • Thanks! I have volunteered with a greyhound rescue for a bit and the hounds are so incredibly kind. It's really mindblowing how they can suffer so much abuse and still have so much love for humans.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to get my greyhound in June, and if it works out, adopt it. =)

  • :D Thanks for being a Greyhound Supporter! I agree w/ you on never giving up! I will fight to bann greyhound racing right up to the day that it stops.

  • @minischnauzergirl and allowing a vocal minority to destroy democracy. the silent majority needs to wake up and stop the eroding of sovereign activity's by a very vocal and ignorant minority. save our democracy.

  • Great video, thanks for highlighting the real truth. Greyhounds are gentle, loyal and so undemanding its a tragedy that racing hasnt been banned worldwide...keep shouting till then :)

  • Heys, it's Olivia!!!

Oh God, that was sick. I cried. Once IO get old enough, I'm adopting a Greyhound. Itshall be a girl and hopefulloy one of the whiteish/tanish ones (not that I'll do much shopping) and I shall name her Saphira. ^-^

  • Good to hear it! Looking forward to hearing your adoption story in a few years!
