I once remember that a couple of times the votes were close enough for him to truly be a nomination candidate. Obviously people took him seriously enough to actually vote for him.
@spahnranch69 First of all, learn how to spell. The word is "title", not "titl". Secondly, check your facts. Pat ran for president in 1968, 1972,1980,1988,1992, and 1996. This video was for his campaign in 1998 when his family and friends ran a campaign to elect him after his death. By the way son, you lost all car privileges, your allowance for a month, and are grounded for 2 weeks for name calling. Tsk, tsk tsk!
I think a few of you may be missing the point. Pat Paulsen was a humorist, not a professional politician. That said, I think that a little more humor would be appreciated with those stale elected officials we have who spend most of their time playing politics instead of trying to help the American people. Pat started his campaigns on the Smothers brothers show as a gag. It says a lot about our voting choices when we see him as the better alternative to actual politicians.
Sure! It would help the clowns we have in Washington be the best clowns they can be. Some of you need to get away from the computer a little more and actually lighten up and laugh. You take yourselves and others much too seriously. Without laughter you are living in a world of grey, without any vibrant colors and enjoyment. Try it. It may hurt at first but will get easier with time.
Being Black, I can't get over his blackface. Maybe that is tilting my opinion of him just a little too subjective. I guess first impressions make the biggest impact and I wasn't impressed with his Blackface act.
I voted for him in 2008. I know he was dead. Picky, picky, picky...

I put Pat's name in on the "Write In" line. He would have made a better president than the JOKER who is in office right now!
