I'm not seeking any arguments or fight. I just want to clarify any misconceptions that you have of the Catholic Church.

"There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church." - Bishop Fulton Sheen
@lucy9359 So,not finding a phrase that says we should be "catholic" is a weak argument. You, yourself said, that we should be born again; so I think it is safe to assume that you don't know the theology behind the Sacrament of Baptism- which is by baptism we are born again, we are cleansed and we receive the Holy Spirit.
@lucy9359 So isn't it illogical if we hold the Word of GOD with so much love and honor (that It deserves), yet, fail to recognize his living presence in the Holy Eucharist and guidance through the Church?
Third, the problem with the Protestant ideology of interpreting the Bible, is that each of us has different interpretations of any single word or phrase (something which is apparent considering the 30,000 plus Protestant denominations).
@lucy9359 As you can also notice in my previous comment, it is not just Sacred Tradition but Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture AND the Holy Spirit which guides the Church.
Second, if we'll look at the history of Christianity, we can see that it is the Fathers of the early church (Catholics) with the guidance of the Holy Spirit who compiled the Bible.
@lucy9359 First of all, what I referred to as Sacred Tradition is not a tradition of men as you say. It is, as its name suggests, Sacred; because that Tradition was passed down from Jesus, to His apostles, and to the continuous line of Popes and Bishops who are entrusted by God to take care of His Church on earth.
Look for a live CD with David Haas, Michael Joncas, and Marty Haugen. I can't remember what it's called, but it has an unbelievable selection of all their music. It's an excellent recording.
awesome!! makes me happy to be a part of a thriving, loving Catholic community. This video does a great job in showing what is beautiful about our faith.Thank you for sharing it.
@lucy9359 The Catholic vision is that we are the church and it is our responsibility to know, love, and serve him on a daily basis. This is exactly what Catholicism is about.
@lucy9359 The Catholic Church is NOT a denomination. She is the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC CHURCH that Jesus Christ assigned to feed His flock. The HOLY TRINITY is the center of our faith; and we are guided, for 2000 years, by the Holy Spirit, Sacred Scripture, and Sacred Tradition. :)
@HereIam108 hmmm if that were true the bible would say it and it doesn't...on that note the bible does say the traditions of men make the word of God null and void or of no effectualness in your life...the word of God does not say you have to be Catholic to make Heaven but it does say you must be born again a consept right from the pages of the bible that Catholics will argue against...go read your bible!!!!
@lucy9359 Hi Lucy please read 2 Thessalonians 2:15 "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us." The bible does say to hold on to "traditions" (word of mouth = Oral traditions, and Written = Scripture) its right there from the mouth of St Paul himself, under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Catholics have been doing this for the last 2000 years. So please be Christian and don't Bible bash Catholics.
@lucy9359 Ok...lets analyse this claim..Rev 21:27 says nuthing unclean shall enter heaven correct? you and I would both agree that we are sinner saved by grace but we all have sinned. If we have sinned then we cant enter heaven because we have been stained by sin, its logic right? Catholics have the Rite of Confession which God absolves them from their sins. Therefore they are "Cleaned" and therefore can enter heaven. So wouldn't their claim be true in a sense??
@ghhoang l was brought up Catholic so I don't bash them...I however understand that yes it may feel good to some to go to a priest and ask for forgiveness of sins but you can go directly to Jesus and should...Jesus is the high priest of our confession and that is what the bible says...being Catholic or any other denomination will not get you to Heaven...your confession won't either...The only thing that qualifies you to go to Heaven is the blood of Jesus...
@lucy9359 Ok...let analyse this claim. Where in the bible does it say you can go "directly" to Jesus to confess your sins? I do recall John 20: 21-23 “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” How could they forgive sins if they were not confessed? They could not. This authority comes through the gift of the Holy Spirit which precedes it. I.e. the Sacrament of Confession.
@ghhoang...Jesus is the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by the Son Catholic or not you have no direct acsess to Heaven without Jesus the muslims also believe they can acsess God the Father without Jesus and so do Jews, but the bible says no man cometh unto the Father but by the Son...Jesus must be asked into your heart and made Lord of your life the confession box won't save you it is a box!
@lucy9359 Ok. Matthew 7:21 I believe state very clearly that "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven..." just because you give Him Lip service that you have taken him into you heart and confessed you sins to Him. That doesn't mean you are forgiven. I just means you confessed.
Confession doesn't happen in a Box. That just for you privacy..If that's you think happens then you need to have a good look at how Jesus works and how His ministry worked.
@ghhoang I understand this also as you do that was my consern for you many Catholics don't get what you just said! as long as you know this you will live out of the relationship with Jesus and not the traditions!
@lucy9359 You've Just ignored 2 Thessalonian 2:15 again. You have to take all of it. not just parts of the bible you like. All of it. I'm not saying all Catholics do this correctly but the Catholic Church does teach all of it not just the traditions. All of it. 1 passage of scripture is not greater then another.
@ghhoang you have my permission to be Catholic ok I hope I have yours to be a non denominational christian as I have no plan to return to the Catholic church...the exultation of Mary, the fact my childhood priest was removed after mollesting alter boys and what else???hmm the bible says to call no man Father...nuns and priests in sexual acts not that it would be wrong if they got married! Did I mention boring????
@lucy9359 Here we go again...you bring up the bible and you quote "call no man father...." Matthew 23:9. Correct? so in Matthew 3:9 he calls "Father Abraham..." Its right there in the book of Matthew under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Is God Confused?? Of course Priests molestation in is a Bad SIn. I would never defend the Sin. But it's once said. Hate the sin. But the Love the Sinner. They are not perfect. nor are you or I. I don't want you to be Catholic just find the truth...
@ghhoang Im not doing this to undermine your denomination or anybody's denomination. I think all prayers are directed to the father through Jesus. And Being Christian I would hope that you pray for every body to be at the feet of the Father. But before you say Catholic do this or Catholics do that..just do some research..and I know you were a ex-catholic but were you really taught the real faith? or a watered down version of it?
@ghhoang no one is perfect like you said so no one is going to have a perfect interpretation of the bible but I am a spirit filled blood washed born again believer Jesus said my sheep hear my voice and follow me...I am thankful to have met you ok your the first Catholic I ever met that new what the bible even says...I have read mine for 21 years I live by it as much as I know how to according to my faith...
I'm not seeking any arguments or fight. I just want to clarify any misconceptions that you have of the Catholic Church.

@lucy9359 I think this comment is taking too long, so I'll just end with this.
The Catholic Church, has four characteristics:
"ONE Christ's body is one, and all who are united to him are one
HOLY set apart, separated from the world, and sin. Sanctified by his blood.
catholic - universal, that which appears everywhere
and Apostolic- for the continuous succession of apostles
