How much more wonderful to sing, not because it is a pretty tune or it is associated with our childhood, but because they are love songs to the Creator and our Redeemer. Faith comes as an undeserved grace and I am thankful each and everyday that it has been bestowed upon me. To sing these hymns are sublime--because they are lovely and they express a Truth.

To DVeronica: Do you feel a different spirit around Christmas? If your sensibilities are not entirely deadened, you will admit that you do. What do you think that feeling is? The greatest music that was ever written is Christmas music (think Messiah) has been inspired by--guess Whom and guess what?
@5brosn1chick Terrible use of fallacy. If she doesn't feel what you say she should, she must be dead? the simple "appeal to the consequences of a belief", that you yourself are defining. Also, you define the greatest music as Christmas music, which is entirely subjective and too narrow a sample to judge greatness by, in all its variation.
Please stop proselytizing here. Music has been inspired by a lot of things, but it is humans and only humans who write it and perform it.
@5brosn1chick I urge you to reread how worthless your last comment was. Tchaikovsky, whose month is unarguably December, was a homosexual and an atheist.Mozart, some say, was not a believer, nor were many of the other greats.Get off your high horse and realize that this celebration dates back to the moment when man realized that the earth starts tilting back towards the Sun in the last week of December
@jnetusil It isn't used for dramatic flair, it's simply traditional in this context. Since it is expected, it would actually be more dramatic to end the last verse without it. Are you by any chance just letting us know you know what it means?
I think it's great that if you were to say, search this song in an american context you would see a comment like "JESUS IS KING" with 300 thumbs ups. The music here is superior to those versions, has a greater aspect of artistry and it seems people are able to enjoy it for just that. I'm an American Atheist, yet I can enjoy the musicality of songs like this in the same way that I can watch the Simpsons and know that there is no Marge.
@DiVeronica I know you're an atheist, but I try to say this to every atheist I stumble upon :) you can never be so sure about what's out there, the glass is always half full
@DiVeronica Ok so the religious say there's something out there and the atheists say there's nothing out there, but one thing is certain, we must accept that there is an ambiguity in all of this. None of us know what's out there, but it's better to hope for the best
@ultraviolent29 What comprises "the best" is highly subjective. I have no wish to live for eternity as I am, nor, I think, should anyone else if they were to actually think about what that would mean.
@DiVeronica It could spell out consequences the are incomprehensible, yes, but surely one must accept that there are some constants in this universe that we cannot explain?

@5brosn1chick If I go into a haunted house and feel scared does that mean satan is lurking behind the shadows?.
