The segment does a good job parodying the anti progress attitude of environmentalists, and addresses the lack of concepts and distinctive demands bearing solutions that they (and especially their hanger-ons) often display. Environmentalists have this anti human tendency, which places nature over people. Yes, indeed, we in the West have come to the point where we are through the destruction and exploitation of nature. (part 1)
However, can anyone really deny that this gave us a good life? The developing countries should be encouraged to do the same, since that saves so many of their lives, and more. They need electricity and infrastructure, a well functioning economy and the opportunity to be what they want to be. They cannot be denied this just because some Westerners are all keen on nature - the very society they live in is based on what they condemn, after all. (part 2)
And I dont see them moving out and living in forests, one with nature, without flushing toilets and the comfort theyre used to due to the progress happened through environmental destruction. Hypocrisy? Im not saying, needlessly destroy nature. But development, weather it is here or somewhere else, is so incredibly important that it should be placed first. Go, progress! (part 3)
