It's the rights that the record company has to the music so basically if ashton was to keep in her singing he would have to pay the record company for use of the song so to avoid that he cut it out. That's why on reality tv shows like the real world they never show people singing and they say they best way to get away from the cameras is to sing a song because they don't want to pay for use of the track.
