Yes but the most important thing is the honest and unbiased investigation free from influence of parents/popular concepts. When ever someone hears about a claimant of prophet hood will have no option but to investigate or else will die a death of an ignorant, if the prophet was a true prophet.
But I agree with Ghamdi on the issue of forgiveness for the mankind irrespective of their religion, If the person has followed whatever he thinks is right and have made honest investigation in identifying the claimant of prophethood but the results could not convince him then his denial even if the prophet was a true prophet, will not prevent him from going to heaven.
