Yobosayo, just went there in November and it was beyond imagination. Going back this year so great to get some inside info. Thanks, they call me Mr Bubbles. Great Job! To Boayo
@jbabydi I went in March and it was actually really cold! I did not expect it to be cold - locals were wearing thick, down jackets and the wind was brutal! I hear that summer months can be rainy and extremely hot. I personally don't mind colder weather - I just wish I packed properly! Perhaps April or May would be nice, warm months? I'm not sure though
This was an amazing video. Thank you! I am planning to visit Seoul in a couple years. I have a friend who lives there. What did you find was the average price for plane ride there and back?? Thank you for listing some shopping malls, and I really want to check out their Heritage show you were speaking of. What were some of the restaurants like down there?? I will be watching your other Korea videos as well. Thank you for the lovely review :)
@Mysticquem Sorry I missed this message until now! I'm not sure about flight costs from Canada or the States, as I travelled from HK. Restaurants are great! Even the food courts have some of the best-tasting food I've ever come across. Thanks for watching!
Such a nice video.I actually showed my mom your ''how to plan a trip to HK'' and she got interested and now we're watching this.I wanted to tell you that I think you forgot about quite an important mall,Garden 5 or something.Never been to Seoul but I heard it's really huge and important (and seen a commercial for it)
Great Video!! Too bad this video was up when I was already in Korea but everything you mentioned or suggested are spot on. I wish I stayed in Myeongdong. I stayed in Insadong so I was a little further away from shopping areas!
wow this video was REALLY helpful!! thankyou so much!! if you could do one for hongkong that would be great...for like the same kinda format as this video! or taiwan, that would be so awesome :D
Thanks so much for making this video because it was indeed super helpful! :)
I would like to ask, how did you manage to communicate with everybody when a majority of them only spoke Korean? >__< I'm visualizing it in my head and it seems very difficult...
@xSuperrXAzn Thanks for watching! Hmmm...it was difficult at times and there were some instances where we all just agreed that we didn't understand eachother and moved on, but most of the time, we just slowed down, used body language. Also, many of the restaurants have pictures on the menu so we just pointed to pictures when we ordered.
Thank you so much for telling me about ininsfree that that it maybe paraben free!! So, I am going to be in Seoul for 2 weeks around the 4th of July and you're video is a wealth of knowledge. By chance, can I ask if you brought your laptop there..is so where did you keep it while you were not in your room? Do you go to any beauty salons or spas?
@TheHappyangel8 You're welcome. I'm not totally sure about Innisfree but def. worth checking out!
I didn't bring my laptop b/c I didn't want to carry more luggage. There is a safe in every room (it won't be big enough to put your lap top in though). I'm not sure how to get around that. Perhaps put your laptop in your suit case before heading out and make sure you lock up your luggage? I didn't go to any salons or spas but Seoul is known for wonderful digital perms and cuts so I would recommend!
@TheHappyangel8 btw, I just came back from Seoul yesterday and when I was there for a week the weather is pretty warm and kind of humid. It started raining when I left so it might be even more humid. I know MyDizzy went a couple months ago and she said it was freezing cold when she went. Just an fyi, that it might be pretty hot/humid in July.
Oh yeah Apujeong is definately an easy place to spot kpop artist..just went there one day n i saw 3 celebs ^^ haha lucky~ thanks for this vid..i never really went to north seoul (yeah i know i miss out T^T)
wow, im going to hk, macau and seoul this summer! such a weird coincidence, im gonna watch the other videos as well, got some really good tips out of this video!
Great information. After watching your video, I have an even greater desire to go to Korea if I stop by Hong Kong this summer. Btw, in the tourist areas, subway and downtown core did they have many English signs? Are sales associates generally very friendly?
@puremonkeyness Hmmm...I'm trying to visualize back to when I was in Korea. All the street signs and subway signs were written out in English and Korean, so I had no problems getting around. Yes, sales associates are very friendly. But just keep in mind that their English may not be very fluent so even if they want to help, they often feel a bit shy to approach you b/c of the language barrier. Thanks for watching and commenting! XD
Love to go to Seoul Korea my future hubby is there hehehe Gong Yoo the coffe prince hunky his an actor i would definitely consider the hotel that you guys stayed in..................
@SiLK1004 Thanks for always supporting!!! Coming back just to comment is too sweet for words.
Ah! I missed out on the cute shops in women's universities. Wish I had known!!! That was probably for the better....saved some moola. My hubby and I had a few awkward moments trying to get directions....hahah! But we just chuckled along with the locals and just thanked them for trying - boy did they try!!!!
Hi hi~ I watched this and forgot to comment. Gotta keep supporting your videos! :)
This is a very informative and impressive video for someone who made their first trip to korea! I give you props! I think if i didn't have family there, i would be totally lost.
I agree with the tours (Waste of money). You are right. its hard to find ppl who actually speak english in korea. I was at Seoul Tower with my mom and witnessed tourists trying to get directions from a bus driver. Not pretty. :(
I was really looking forward to this video!!! You mentioned that taking the subway was the best way of getting around. Was it easy to know which place(s) you had to get off and on from?
@HiHunnyImHome Bangkok is great too. My hubby really wanted to go there instead but I insisted on Korea;) He ended up liking Korea too but it will be his choice of destination next timeXD Thanks for watching and commenting;)
@nanalvoe How exciting!!! The 12 hour flight is hardddd! I was so grumpy by the end of it. My flight ended up being about 16 hours b/c we were stuck on the ground for about 1.5 hours before even taking flight. Have fun, eat lots, and buy tons:)
Thanks for your planning tips! I told my sis to watch this video, because she and her schoolmates are probably going to Seoul for vacation this summer! ;)
great video. thank you so much for the info. I would say one of the best travel info video I've come across. Especially the price range on products. I really do enjoy watching your videos. Please do more. May I suggest a updated am pm skincare routine demo?
@MonicaMakeUpYeah I didn't see vidi vici but perhaps it's b/c vidi vici is a higher-end brand and I focused on cheaper brands. I believe I saw vidi vici at the Lotte Duty Free store but didn't notice it anywhere else.
@TheHappyangel8 You're very welcome! Hmmm...non parabaen and SLS products? I honestly don't know. I wasn't looking out for those issues but you raise a good question. I didn't see any brands that were specifically marketed as that but perhaps check out innisfree? They seem to be a pretty "natural" line but I could be wrong.
Korea is such a nice place to visit. I'm japanese, but speak english and found myself speaking broken Korean since many of them didn't speak english. I never took the bus to get to seoul but I might, the taxi from the airport was so expensive.
@newyorkjapan I can imagine the taxi from the airport was expensive. It is so far away! was very impatient the whole ride....haha. Japan is a beautiful place too - would love to go back in the next few years;)
@pandaweige That is soooo neat!!! First off, thanks for correcting me. But secondly, "dong" and "nam" are also directions in Chinese cultures as well. Also daemun or, as I would pronounce in Cantonese, "dai moon" means large gate in Chinese as well! This is so neat to see the cultures cross over;) Thanks for teaching me something new!XD
@mrdizzybubbles hahaha yea. part of the korean language is from chinese. so there are quite a few cross over words. I am cantonese myself (but dont speak.. unfortunately) but there are many words that my friend tells me sound very close to cantonese (which i dont know if you heard is supposed to sound closer to ancient ancient chinese b4 mandarin) but yea its really interesting to see the language cross over!
@pandaweige oh yea.. hahah what i was getting to... there were 3 great gates that used to have their own korean name but because of the japanese occupation they were changed.. nam (south), dong (east), seo (pronounced suh) (west) daemun. but i think... that namdaemun is the last gate standing... i may be wrong... but it was damaged via arson awhile back...
I love the way you broke down the shopping for everyone's budget. It can be overwhelming to plan a oversea trip. Having an estimated budget on how much you want to spend on the total trip. My husband plans our trips for vacation. He buys the cheapest fare possible without too many over lays (think that's the word). Then, he goes on Lonely Planet website to surf the rating and reviews of places that seem interesting. He usually buys the LP guide before reading the reviews. Thank you!
@beautybijouxfashion Thanks, Yun. How great is your hubby??!!! haha! My husband relies on me to do all that. He just kind of provides moral supportxD I will need to check out lonely planet now. Thanks for the tip! Hope you had a restful weekend
@nisaseeya You're welcome, girl! I had a really long week at work and was worried that I wouldn't get this video out in time for some of you that are heading out to Korea this week. Glad it helped and hope you have a fabbbbb time. Let me know if you pick up any neat products that I should try out!!! :D
This video was extremely helpful & really gave some great suggestions on where to go & what to see. I have always wanted to visit korea but was so unsure of where to go or what to do or how to get around. Did you ever get lost or find it difficult to get around or find out info due to the language barrier? Like you said, patience & body language probably helps a lot.
@notestolisa I'm glad you found this video helpful! Hmmm....did I get lost?...I think we lost our way in dongdaemun for a bit but all you had to do was ask "subway?" and people helped us get to a subway station. Once we got to the subway station, it was easy to navigate ourselves to the next destination - plus we felt ease of mind knowing that we were somewhere that could get us home!xD When all else fails, just head to the subway station! haha!
Cool video. You gave some good shopping info on Soul and general travel tips about going to Soul. I think if you are going to a foreign country you can not expect people to speak your language, you are right you have to adapt. I also asked a girl from work that grew up in Soul about the store hours and all the coffee shops (facts from your other video), and she confirmed and smiled (one of her super smiles were her gold tooth becomes visible) LOL. It surprised her that I new all that stuff. :)
@uberaudioexperience Thank you! Glad that you were able to "impress" your colleague with your knowledge about Korea! Youtube is such a great way to meet people and to learn things in unexpected ways. I love chatting with older grannies and grandpa's that have gold and silver bling in their mouths. haha. The ones that I've chatted with have been a hoot - sharing their stories and opinions.;)

@ikukochyan Awwww...thank you so much for your wonderful comment. And greetings all the way from Taiwan!;) I really wanted to visit Taiwan while I was in Asia but didn't have the budget for it! I really appreciate your comment and am so flattered that you would see such great qualities in me. Thank you thank you! I really enjoy making videos and am so happy that you find them interesting and helpful. Much lovexD
