  • absolutely amazing game

  • @WoWJala your mom was INEFFICIENT in my bed last night,... oh daaaaaammnnnnnn ;)

  • Trespasser was pretty amazing and rad, there were heaps of very cool things in it, even if it was clunky and frustrating in other ways.

I finished it twice back in the day! I certainly think that some of the unexplored, tricky things in computer games, are some of the best things!

    Here's waiting for Thief 4!

  • @WoWJala this is going against games like quake and halo canned death animations and 0 physics anyone >.> plus trespasser runs fine get your shit straight : D no one complains about crysis nuking there machine if they could not afford to build it right this game with very intensive at the time but it was proportional to what it put out. its main flaws came from aiming and level design not its physics engine other than there being no coded friction but it still made quake sob by comparison.

  • personally I thought Trespasser looked like a lump of turd...

  • love the octor who theme

  • i loled so hard at 00:51 xD

  • Comment removed

  • @WoWJala Actually I got this game when it released.. Physics were great and game worked great on my computer (which was high tech back in 98) and it was really enjoyable game. Then after that, when patches and fixes came like.. half year after the game was released it worked perfectly. I end my case.

  • I dont see how they could have a game with physics this good yet not have any games as good nowa days

  • This is like the Ice-age version of Crysis

  • they should remake this game!

  • It's amazing what the game engine was capable of. If there was ever a game that screamed for a proper remake using modern technology, it's Trespasser. The old girl just couldn't cut it on 90's hardware.

  • Mehhhh the physics look good but the game is a fail -_-

  • Trespasser physics used penalty collision physics. Objects would seemingly "push" another object away until the collision threshhold was met. Very groundbreaking game, just undercooked.

  • @WoWJala Try DETONATE

  • It's comparatively efficient. :P I know full well that it ran like crap when it first came out, but remember, PCs had only just broken 200Mhz in early 1998, so that's why it was crap.Scale physics like this up and you could have an entire physics-driven world with thousands of interactive elements on a 2.66Ghz quad core easily. I'm not talking Crysis physics... I'm talking each brick on a house being interactive.

But you're right I guess.Software has moved on since then,I was just being a fanboy

  • How many physics engines do you know that can run real-time on a 166Mhz processor? Sure, the physics are laggy on today's machines, but only because it wasn't built for them. Try and run Havock phsics on a slow laptop like this, and then you can come back and comment on how inefficient it is. Pfft.

  • @theguymjp

The physics engine is what killed the performance of the game. At the time of release, even the most powerful consumer system in the world couldn't run this game smoothly. If you are testing the physics engine alone on a map like this, with nothing else, yes, it might run fine on a Pentium 166Mhz. Run the game on a system like that, and watch the framerate crawl. Even on a Pentium 2 350Mhz. at the time, this game ran incredibly slow.

  • not the best physics

  • This game is way too hard 4 me xD

I killed like 50 raptors and died jumping from fence.

  • YES!!! succeeded in life

  • WOW falling boxs!

  • Amazing physics for the time of the game.

  • Hey! Were can I get that skin for...the player at 0:30 ?!?! Plz reply

  • You can't. I made the skin myself and never released it. It's long gone...

It was a bodge job anyway.

  • Aaww, ok

  • Well...were are/is the skin(s) located in the trespasser folder? I want to make my own.

  • You need to get Tresed, export the Anne model out in the TPM format, edit the texture keeping the same resolution and colour space, and then import the model again replacing textures using Geomadd.

  • Crysis of the 90's man.

  • 1998 - the best ever!

  • Anyone who wants to see a trespasser walkthrough vist my petition or message me

  • they started building the game and this physics engine in 1996. .lets give them some credit. . shall we?? <3

  • shall we?? tf2 spy pf curce

  • wut

  • @Kiryutka22 98 lmao

  • in 98 it was released. .

  • 1998 -_-

  • It was only released in 98. They actually started the game in 96, which makes Trespasser an outstanding achievement in my book.

  • O=|

  • Lol, Crysis of the 90's.

  • Crysis with tits, no less.

  • Ah, Indeed. lucky raptors have their way with you if you die. cant do that in crysis :P

  • Its more like crysis then you think. Like that only the BEST of the BEST computers could even run it.

  • dude the computers that are next gen today still crash on this

  • Plays fine on Windows7 64bit with all the newest hardware.

  • But thats a good thing, right?

  • I found the physics really good. But I was surprised everything moved so slow. I don't know if anyone agreed that with me, but when those boxes where falling, it looks like if everything was happening on th moon.

  • Lol, I think the physics really are a tad too slow.

  • Yeah, but how come? And not only the physics by the way, but even some dinosaurs as well. Don't misunderstand me, I like the game, but when I played it, I got all the time to run away from the raptors. In the movies they where suposed to be as fast or even faster then cheeta's, but in this game Anne is even faster then that. Looks like.

  • With ATX, you can set the game speed a little faster, which really helps the gameplay, but it speeds everything up, not just the raptors/physics.

The reason why the raptors are slow is because they kept falling over, so they had to slow them down. Buggy game really.

  • Yeah, it came out to soon, i've heard or read that later. I probably have read it. There where way to many bugs.

How did you by the way survive the last battle on the top off the mountain? The one with all those huge raptors. I did it with a little patience. Let the raptors walk to me and wait till they fell over the cliff, to reach me, which they couldn't. They fall, and I jumped to the helicopter.

  • Lol, I've forgotten actually... knowing me I'd have probably just gone in guns blazing though! :D

  • This game is not "efficient"... PC mags used to test new hard ware to see if they could max the game out. Even in the early 2000's they still couldn't max it.

  • Even NOW they can't max it =P it doesn't take advantage of any newer hardware. I guess they optimised it too much for the hardware around the time they made it.

  • LOL. And yet the TRex's jaw couldn't close and the player's arm looks like a pencil...

  • LOL!! Nice

  • LOL. This is totally ridiculous in a good way. Especially the arm and the gun shadow.

And someone would have had physics at one point. =/ If it wasn't Tres, it'd be something else. Physics is mathematics. The only limitation is computing power. I doubt the Half Life 2 team just went in and ripped out all the equations in Tres as if it was the Jesus of computer physics.

  • Remember guys if Trespasser hadnt made this revolutionary physics engine there would be no Half life, No Half life 2, No awesome FPS games, Theyd come with some shitty physics engine. Nearly every game stole Trepassers engine for there own.

  • Lol, if you're going to make such statements, please provide some proof. As a Trespasser fan myself, I'd like it to have made a big impact, but it was just natural evolution of game making that lead to physics engines. Sure, Trespasser did it first, but it didn't exactly do it to a practical level. The gaming world wasn't ready.

And, Half Life was released the same year as trespasser... so without Tres, there'd still be HL. But I reckon, HL 2 wouldn't have had physics if it wasn't for Tres.

  • That arm....

  • The boxes...fell. They DO fall.......

  • Trespasser Jurassic Park.

  • The little physics engine that could.

  • heheeee liked that alot!

  • Quote: "super6plx" : hahaha that's funny, when the music starts to pick up at about 00:50 I think, it's like "MY GOD, I've never seen anything like it! The boxes! They're falling, it's.. it's beautiful!"

    rofl xD

I agree completely. It does give that impression.

  • whats wrong with her arm....

  • thats cool..

  • hahaha that's funny, when the music starts to pick up at about 00:50 I think, it's like "MY GOD, I've never seen anything like it! The boxes! They're falling, it's.. it's beautiful!"

    rofl xD

  • Yeah well, this WAS realtime, so there. =P

  • English please?

  • Comment removed

  • this game oes not reach the the foot of crysis

  • well duh but if crytek tried this back then they would get nowhere

  • what this game is all about? whats the genre? horror, adventure, run-and-gun or hidin like ninja and do level without anyone seein ya?

  • it's an action adventure. It was supposed to be a survival horror, but the devs ran out of time and had to change it. The game is related to the Jurassic Park universe, and you play the avarage american who gets stranded on Site B after her aeroplane crashes. You then have to make your way through the island to find a way of escape.....

  • Most females are referred to in the third person as "her".

  • 0:30 til 0:37

gomu gomu no pistol ("uzi" in our case)

  • from 1:31 - the end was like the matrix lol

  • What music did you use?

    Thanks!

  • It's a track from the Doctor Who season 3 soundtrack. It's called "This is Galefray" or something.

  • How did you change the textures of Anne and is there a topic in trescom?

  • I changed anne's textures by exporting her model using Tresed, changing the textures, and reimporting her using Geomadd, overwriting the original textures.

No, there isn't a topic on trescom.

  • Haha, well Garry's Mod wasn't made in 1998.

  • Name one game in 1998 that had half functioning physics engine.

    Thats right, none.

  • Nice. I love Trespasser, and that was awesome. If only it was open source, so we could get it to run on Pandora...

  • This is a really awesom video set to one of my favorite pieces of music! How did you make sure the tower never fell over before you shot it down?

  • In trespasser, physics need to be triggered by something to become active. So the tower stayed in place until I either shot it, or touched it.

Glad you enjoyed the vid :)

  • what mod is this?

  • it itsn't a mod. I just edited a level with the level editor.

  • Nicely done. How did you edit her body and arm models?

  • I used Tresed to export the player model then I edited the textures using MS Paint, then I reimported the model using Geomadd, replacing the original.

  • How did you get a HUD display?

  • A mod for Trespasser called ATX. It adds lots of new features.

  • I downloaded ATX patch but the HUD isnt showing up

And has the 1911 in the basement been finished by anyone?

  • you need to enable the HUD in the ATX configuration ini. Set it to "enable hud = 1" or something.

  • Ok thanks

  • What, in basic terms, is HUD?

  • Heads up Display. It basically tells you how much ammo and health you've got by big letters in the corners of the screen.

  • i cant find the tpassp5.exe in my downloaded files. maby u can e-mail me with the tpassp5.exe as attachment plz??

    i give u my e-mail @ your youtube mail

  • No, you've got it. I assume you're mounting the the disk image to a virtual drive? Go to "My Computer", "Trespasser" (or whatever the disk is called), then go into the "setup" folder on the disk, you'll find it there. If you STILL can't find it then I'll send it to you, but it's there and you've just got to have a look.

  • i downloaded it now but the next problem is

i get a message: this version of trespasser requires a processor woth 3D now

plz tel me what to do?

  • On the disk, go to a directory called "setup", in there you'll find a few execute files. Select "tpassp5.exe" and copy it to your install directory and launch the exe. If this doesn't work go to the trespasser (TresCom) forums and ask what to do there. Don't say you downloaded it.

  • lol i would like to play the game but i cant buy it anywere here in the netherlands. can someone help me?

  • The only thing I can think of is for you to download a pirate copy... but I didn't say that ;)

  • wil it run on a q6600 @ 3ghz 8800gt?

  • yes, it will run very nicely indeed on that rig

  • I love this game, had it the year after it came out i believe, a friend borrowed it but never gave it back, so i repurchased it 2 years ago. It's worth 2 buys, i'd buy it again if i had to. Notice how the crates don't bounce on each other as they pile up, Crysis has that problem of objects constantly bouncing in a pile. I love Crysis as well though.

  • so amazing physics for a 10 year old game, downloaded demo yesterday, and ordered the game :)

  • lol i could have got for u for free

  • It doesn´t matter, I like to pay for games, I always buy them

  • what was the music?

  • It's a track from the Doctor Who season 3 soundtrack. It's called "This is Galefray" or something.

  • omg this game physics better than the Crysis.. =) =P

  • how did u stack em up like that? dont you just kill dinos in this game i know cuz i have the full thing is this like sandbox mod or something plz reply

  • I used a program called TresEd. It's free and is easy to use.

  • thx

  • garys mod is better ^^ but this is cool

  • Garry's Mod wasn't made in '98 though, was it!?

  • no? was that my point?

  • Cooler Arm

  • What is that background music?

  • That's "This is Gallifrey" from the Dr. Who season 3 soundtrack.

  • Oh right, this was the music playing doing the Masters funeral wasn't it? No wonder it was so familiar.

  • Just a little longer and it would've been a modern classic. Still a great idea, too.

  • THATS ON 600 MHZ? wow, you can barely play halflife on that but that is messed up. physics at their best...

  • You should see a it on a 233MHz processor!

    Look...

    youtube com / watch?v=IjKJqZT8Qh8

  • damn the arm is just .... screwed up, crazy stuff man .D :S

  • Man i think ifi was playing this game back then i would have to shoot my self and throw my self out of a window before believeing it was that good

  • jesus whats up with that fucking guys arm?

  • Lol, that's a womans arm. XD

It's just part of the game that cannot be changed. Gives it a lot of character, though.

    ;)

  • nice physics for that time but i cant stand that arms graphics...

  • lol

  • very intersting very fascinating to. i dont like that arm thing i tried this game but the physics are like amazing for its time.

  • Amazing for its time? Dude there were NONE back then... the only example I can come with is maybe the crumbling and tumbling rocks and vehicles from Wild Metal Country from 1999[Rockstar/DMA]... And this had seen the light of the day even since 1997.

  • The physics are sooooo real!!!!!

  • 1998 and it fucking had fluid water physics, real time shadows and reasonably realistic objects physics.. What are the devs of THESE times doing??

  • suckin eachother off, and adding even MORE BLOOM THIS TIME...lollololulz

  • LOL, best response EVER!

Not to mention, this game something still unseen to this day in any other game... dynamic shound mixing and generation... such as... the harder 2 physical object hit each other, the louder the sound out put. And this is only a example... I could mention image-based rendering... something the we all were WOW!-ing at in '04 in Far Cry... And the list goos on and on... not only graphically, gameplay-wise too.

  • wow u sound smart but u make a lot of grammer mistakes :)

  • Haha, yeah, I'm a terrible speller. XD I'm a little better now though, and that's probably down to just using the internet, which we only just got last year I think.

  • 0_0, such an old game.

  • And your point is?

Is it really that hard to type more explicite posts on comment board people???

  • This is the youtube (emphasis on youtube) commenting board.

We have a choice whether or not we want to type explicit posts, or just sit back and write the first thing that comes to our minds. If this was a serious discussion board, I wouldn't be stating obvious like that :P

  • yeah, hehe crates ^_^

  • death by box at 1:15 quite comond ^^

  • haha, great :D

could someone tell how this song is called?

  • Hahahahahaha

  • Oh please, there are videos 100 times more pointless than any video game video on youtube. And to answer you're question, it's on youtube to show the gaming community just how forward thinking the developers of this game were. If you don't understand that, then this video isn't meant for you.

  • why are YOU on youtube, now thats the question..

  • haha great, love it

  • And to think, back in the day TresCom thought that more than 5 moving objects at once would crash the physics engine.

  • HAHAHAHHAAHA!!! XD

Anyways, TheGuy this is gold. Awesome work, quite inspired I should say! :) Your editing skills and use of non-Trespasser music are top-notch..

  • OMG FIRST VEIW AND FIRST POST WOOT anyway cool but i dont think thats the tresspaser hud i say this because i downloaded the demo yesterdy thanks for telling me the name

  • I used the ATX patch which lets you have a HUD, it also improves the graphics.

  • my god i gotta 1 get som money 2 buy on amazon 3 find draco or happevs website
