Windows has more programs for it plus the Apple hardware is more stable than PC hardware. There are a whole lot of people have switched to iMac's or Macbooks and have installed Windows on it using Parallels or Boot Camp. A lot of those people are using theirs as both Mac and PC. There are some that don't like Mac operating system so they use Windows instead.
yep. i tried it out at the store. its pretty cool. but i know it might be very different if i'm using it at home. i would need to use it over a period of time to find out if its stable or virus prone etc etc.. so i probably wouldn't know until i buy it. thanks for the advice.

OS X is the best Operating system there is. Apple provides the best Hardware that is provided to consumers. Quite simply, you just get what you pay for. Hands down.
If there is a need for anything you need to do. . . There is an application, simple or complicated out here in the for the Mac.
Example: As a prof. photographer, I shoot RAW. Apple OS is able to provide thumbnail views of such files specific to my cameras just as implementations of updates. Other OSes do not do that!!
DO NOT say things you do now know about. Just because of a reason like that, you cannot judge OSs as best or worst. First off, a tweak/addon to XP can do the trick, and second of all, Unix is the best OS. Period.
I never used a Mac before until I went to college. We have a lab full of PCs but have a corner of about 5 Mac Pros. So I began to sit down and see what everyone was talking about.
Let me just say that I was BLOWN away at how easy everything was. Within my hour of free time between classes, I already knew how to use many of the functions that it took me nearly a day or two to use on a PC. As I'm typing this I am saving up for a Macbook Pro. Overall, the learning curve isn't too high.
i just got my first mac last week, and i completely agree with you, i'm running XP professional with vm fusion and it works beautifully. and hes right, you have to get past the "boo its different, its a stupid mac".....i'm very happy with it.
this was interesting and reassuring! I've got an exam on computer skills and thisyr they've suddenly dcided to throw in the macs... but they just toldus ad i've never so much as turned one on! so... I hope he's right!
I'm really considering wasting all my money (since im a kid im like poor) on a mac mini. I mostly want it for the iLife and iMovie software. As well as the more secure environment.
Yeah I know. But a perfect example would be "Crysis". Its a highly graphical game. Say I needed to update hardware in my computer. I could shop around for the best price and item available. With a Mac I have to order the hardware from Apple and their own hardware is more expensive than most items in the PC market.
I know Mac can run windows, but lets take a look at what you said. "the mac uses standard PC hardware, so graphics cards, hard drives and memory can be bought from anyone as long as it is mac compatible :)"....Compatible... I rest my case.

All I can say is that my current Apple keyboard can do both (I tried it). The thing you're complaining about is a laptop, which means it won't apply to all Apple computers. I'll try and look up that video about deleting on the right side for you later, may be it will you.
People are going to start to relising that you get more for your money and better quality with a Mac. Dont belive me? Look at the benchmarks. Look at the software and hardware prices. Look at how little you have to maintain OS X. Look how much lower Leopards system requierments are than Vista, and how long you wont have to upgrade. Its overall much cheaper.
@TechTalkTips Ok, what I meant, was that it's stupid to do that. It's like me buying a PS3 to run linux, granted, PS3 doesn't support linux anymore, but you get the point. Anyways, those are irrelevant. 1.) I build my own PC's, and they have superior build quality compared to macs's. 2.) IMO, the PC's I have built and bought look better than macs. Not really a fan of the macs design. Though I hate when computers are too flashy. 3.) I have better tech support than apple, the internet.
@amrahc3232 You make a Valid point but, the thing is most people dont build their own pc s like me and you. The general Consumer wants a computer that: works, is going to last them, Look half way decent, and a computer that if it fails the company will fix it without any fuss. most people would rather call the company and explain their problem rather than search through forums. in the end i love building pcs, but enjoy the "no hassle" of being on a mac
Ive got to say i had the swop to a mac because of my course which i am doin which is video edit But i am very glad i have after i belive mac is way head of windows and there struggling to keep you with the stuff mac has. Soon i feel more and more people will swop to mac and windows will fade out coz they really are that good.
my mom is not very computer savy and has trouble working on a winpc but give her a mac running osx and there is no problems so i guess if you grew up around winpcs like myself because of school you will obviously have no problems and know how to avoid them on a winpc and moving to a mac is very easy and i love osx
I personally don't agree that Macs come with more for the money. Yes, the Mac hardware is coming down in price, but it is still more expensive than the PC equivalent hardware. The Mac Pro, for instance, does seem cheap, and it is, in my eyes, very good value for money, but it is still quite a bit more expensive thn a comparable PC. But, adding software after buying the PC system, will bring the price just under the Macs price, so they are nearly the same.
macs are just so much better than PCs. they are nicer to look at, much easier to use, can run any OS, come with more stuff for the price, just overall better. I have a regular MacBook, not the pro, and am able to play any game easily in Windows in boot camp.
Sure, there's a somewhat slight "learning-curve" going from Windows to MAC. But MAC OS has always been structured from the ground-up to be intuitive and user-friendly. Once you get the hang of the menu similarities, everything falls into place rather naturally and effortlessly for the average Windows user. Same applies going to the Linux "Window Managers" (GUI's). And it's surprisingly less intimidating, once you just spend a little time with it. Either way, no Win BSOD! :)
Yeah I have been using Mac since last christmas. Its great and everything, only thing is that it doesn't support very graphic games right now. But on the upside you can look up for folders in a blink of an eye on spotlight. Loading time isn't that bad even if you had max out your harddrive. Also, Macs has a lot of useful program already built in. Also you don't have to 'install' most program, if you know what I mean. (its run on a cache I believe?)
I use a macbook pro 17inch and I run windows xp ,Mac OS and Ubuntu Linux without using paralles. The way Apple lets you run all 3 oses is a real boom to the developer. But if there is no reason to run os x go with a pc. Apple charges a lot for hardware.
Uh I don't know um a Dell XPS M1210 laptop which is slightly cheaper. But still Apple is expensive. How can an 8 GB Nano cost the same as a 30 GB iPod? Apple sells because they have a stupid fan base and whatever piece of shit they put an Apple logo on it sells, like the iPhone
"Uh I don't know um a Dell XPS M1210 laptop which is slightly cheaper." You're correct.. you don't know. If you are going to do some hating, then you should probably do some research first. That Dell you mentioned with the same specs the base MacBook is actually more expensive than the MacBook, and the MacBook comes with far more built-in, very capable software.
Let me get this straight; you are comparing a product made by a company to another product made by the same company.. what's really your point? And if you were wondering why the 8GB nano is the same price as a 30GB iPod, well firstly the nano uses flash storage which is smaller, which is why the nano is tiny, and way more expensive and gives you much better battery life. The good things is you're not forced to buy it, which is why I own a little shuffle - which I'm perfectly happy with.
I've compared a Mac to an XPS laptop, a Mac is $250 cheaper. You need to understand that the baseline of macs normally have better stats than other PC venders, I had to bring up the hardware a little bit on the XPS to match the Mac.
I was a PC power user for many years and I made the switch to mac a little over a year now, and I must say it's been amazing....I think the best piece of software for mac power users is Quicksilver form Blacktree...(it's a 3rd party app and it's free)...the windows equivalent is Dash but be prepared to pay for it
I just started using Quicksilver a few days ago and it's great, I agree. I don't need to throw the Applications folder on my dock anymore because of it :-D
Mac may have its lead pretty soon. OS X is pretty sniffty i tried it in Fry's the electronic store with like everything there i must say it is easier in some parts then Windows and much cooler to run Windows on a Mac. Maybe in the future i may just switch to Mac idk ;D
I just cant love Mac... I have some friends who say me... Mac is better... But I hate... I realy prefer Windows... Even Vista... May be less simple ak ''cute'' But realy more cool:D
I'm not referring to that. The x86 version uses (from every case I've heard and the tutorial itself) a hacked version which is downloaded online for free. Now that is illegal everywhere.
But you own a copy then you are free to make changes to the kernel so that it works on a compatible x86 machine. The OSX86 has documentation for doing this thing... not a thing for regular Joes though...
i dont tend to use it that much tho i do like OS X but i play a lot of games like Seven Co-op & Counter-Strike and software that you can only run on windows and VM software dont run them properly
cool! first comment! Well, I just have one thing to say to all the people who say vista is bad: according to wikipedia, mac os 10.0 had some problems. so, I just want to ask for some time for vista. ALso, I have no problem with mac osx, I hust hate the CRAZY users. that is all....
Yeah, but the good games that are being ported to OSx are going to run with the cider engine and not OpenGL. Also, OpenGL is nowhere near as good for gaming as directx.
What are you talking about? I mean, we can play any game you guys can on Windows. Are you saying that you only play Pacman and the Sims? Man you need a life.
Windows has more programs for it plus the Apple hardware is more stable than PC hardware. There are a whole lot of people have switched to iMac's or Macbooks and have installed Windows on it using Parallels or Boot Camp. A lot of those people are using theirs as both Mac and PC. Ive got to say i had the swop to a mac because of my course which i am doin which is video edit But i am very glad i have after i belive mac is way head of windows and there struggling to keep you with the stuff mac has. Soon i feel more and more people will swop to mac and windows will fade out coz they really are that good.
axey2006 4 years ago
you can get software for windows that reads the color profile as well, but it we talk just what comes with os i guess it's true.
AJenbo 4 years ago
my mom is not very computer savy and has trouble working on a winpc but give her a mac running osx and there is no problems so i guess if you grew up around winpcs like myself because of school you will obviously have no problems and know how to avoid them on a winpc and moving to a mac is very easy and i love osx

I don't hate people who buy macs, My neighbor has a Mac book and I have never used but it looks nice. I just don't like Apple product tech support.
godoggygo88 4 years ago
I personally don't agree that Macs come with more for the money. Yes, the Mac hardware is coming down in price, but it is still more expensive than the PC equivalent hardware. The Mac Pro, for instance, does seem cheap, and it is, in my eyes, very good value for money, but it is still quite a bit more expensive thn a comparable PC. But, adding software after buying the PC system, will bring the price just under the Macs price, so they are nearly the same.
pimplambo 4 years ago
macs are just so much better than PCs. they are nicer to look at, much easier to use, can run any OS, come with more stuff for the price, just overall better. I have a regular MacBook, not the pro, and am able to play any game easily in Windows in boot camp.
RyanD124 4 years ago
What I hate is when people write MAC when they mean Mac.
Mac = Macintosh Computer
MAC = Media Access Control address
And that's NOT the same thing!

EddieBear631 4 years ago
Just use a Mac and run Vista or whatever virtualised on your Mac, you are not going to lose anything.
sunnz 4 years ago

All new Mac users are switchers, they do it for a reason, and not many regret it. There's got to be something in just that - think about it.
macflyfilm 4 years ago
Well they have the money to switch. For me I can't afford a $1000 Mac Book even though there are faster/cheaper laptops out there.
Taurus702B 4 years ago
You must tell me what those faster cheaper ones are? Name them?
macflyfilm 4 years ago
Uh I don't know um a Dell XPS M1210 laptop which is slightly cheaper. But still Apple is expensive. How can an 8 GB Nano cost the same as a 30 GB iPod? Apple sells because they have a stupid fan base and whatever piece of shit they put an Apple logo on it sells, like the iPhone
Taurus702B 4 years ago
"Uh I don't know um a Dell XPS M1210 laptop which is slightly cheaper." You're correct.. you don't know. If you are going to do some hating, then you should probably do some research first. That Dell you mentioned with the same specs the base MacBook is actually more expensive than the MacBook, and the MacBook comes with far more built-in, very capable software.
macflyfilm 4 years ago
You didn't mention the iPod part which is fact...
Taurus702B 4 years ago
Let me get this straight; you are comparing a product made by a company to another product made by the same company.. what's really your point? And if you were wondering why the 8GB nano is the same price as a 30GB iPod, well firstly the nano uses flash storage which is smaller, which is why the nano is tiny, and way more expensive and gives you much better battery life. The good things is you're not forced to buy it, which is why I own a little shuffle - which I'm perfectly happy with.
macflyfilm 4 years ago
I've compared a Mac to an XPS laptop, a Mac is $250 cheaper. You need to understand that the baseline of macs normally have better stats than other PC venders, I had to bring up the hardware a little bit on the XPS to match the Mac.

I was a PC power user for many years and I made the switch to mac a little over a year now, and I must say it's been amazing....I think the best piece of software for mac power users is Quicksilver form Blacktree...(it's a 3rd party app and it's free)...the windows equivalent is Dash but be prepared to pay for it
jayleejay 4 years ago
I just started using Quicksilver a few days ago and it's great, I agree. I don't need to throw the Applications folder on my dock anymore because of it :-D
DMXell 4 years ago
I have my dock on hidden view because I hardly use it......Chris should do an entire show on Quicksilver
jayleejay 4 years ago
Oh man I want those monitors. Anyway yeah, once I got a MacBook Pro, I don't think I will ever want to use any Microsoft OS.

There are more than 3 OS on the planet you know?
sunnz 4 years ago
and .....do we care about those others os's? No...:)
enisity 4 years ago
Without 'the other OS's' you wouldn't have OS X as we know today.
sunnz 4 years ago
And who are "we" referring to? There are more people than those who just want to run "all three OS's".
sunnz 4 years ago
all three big OSs - Linux, Windows, OS X
gunotsoldierdesktop 4 years ago
I prefer my big five BSD's - FreeBSD, OpenBSD, netBSD, DragonflyBSD and Mac OS X; which all run fine on my Mac; thank you very much.
sunnz 4 years ago
i dont really like most of the bsds
gunotsoldierdesktop 4 years ago
I don't really like Windows.
sunnz 4 years ago
to each their own
gunotsoldierdesktop 4 years ago
That's what I am trying to getting at, so yea good to see you saying that now... just don't assume "all 3" is 'all there is'.
sunnz 4 years ago
Macs are like the easiest fucking computers to use in the universe.
You're living forever.

Dude ... "learning curve on a Mac??" ... GMAB
w0rldpeace 4 years ago
Don't switch!!!!!!!!!!!!
riderowned 4 years ago
Why? Switching is very good, people learn what they've been missing out on.
DMXell 4 years ago
Mac may have its lead pretty soon. OS X is pretty sniffty i tried it in Fry's the electronic store with like everything there i must say it is easier in some parts then Windows and much cooler to run Windows on a Mac. Maybe in the future i may just switch to Mac idk ;D
Haybbo 4 years ago
I just cant love Mac... I have some friends who say me... Mac is better... But I hate... I realy prefer Windows... Even Vista... May be less simple ak ''cute'' But realy more cool:D
Windows Rule's!!

i run OSx86 its Mac OS X for standard PC's, Mac OS is nice i dont see why people bash so much
arranmc182 4 years ago
You run a very illegal version of Mac OS X.
DMXell 4 years ago
Perhaps maybe in the US, but the Apple EULA may not apply else where.
sunnz 4 years ago
I'm not referring to that. The x86 version uses (from every case I've heard and the tutorial itself) a hacked version which is downloaded online for free. Now that is illegal everywhere.
DMXell 4 years ago
That is illegal, yes.
But you own a copy then you are free to make changes to the kernel so that it works on a compatible x86 machine. The OSX86 has documentation for doing this thing... not a thing for regular Joes though...
sunnz 4 years ago
i dont tend to use it that much tho i do like OS X but i play a lot of games like Seven Co-op & Counter-Strike and software that you can only run on windows and VM software dont run them properly
arranmc182 4 years ago
Those games eventually will be ported to OS X.
sunnz 4 years ago
cool! first comment! Well, I just have one thing to say to all the people who say vista is bad: according to wikipedia, mac os 10.0 had some problems. so, I just want to ask for some time for vista. ALso, I have no problem with mac osx, I hust hate the CRAZY users. that is all....
oneuptheextraman 4 years ago
I really miss the lack of menus on Vista :(
I would agree with you, OS X and Windows are pretty similar; there are huge differences yeah, but it's not insanely challenging to change.
RPGoof 4 years ago
darn second :P Windows ftw macs cant play games
Sha1dov 4 years ago
you may want to do some homework. mac do play games. ea and id
retrospects 4 years ago
yeah, but directx > cider engine.
The games that will be released for OSx won't run at full native speeds. PWNT!
a1gaius 4 years ago
Macs got OpenGL...
sunnz 4 years ago
Yeah, but the good games that are being ported to OSx are going to run with the cider engine and not OpenGL. Also, OpenGL is nowhere near as good for gaming as directx.
a1gaius 4 years ago
OpenGL>DirectX Do some research, we can play an game you lot can.
DMXell 4 years ago
yeh if u enjoy pac man and the sims then great
riderowned 4 years ago
What are you talking about? I mean, we can play any game you guys can on Windows. Are you saying that you only play Pacman and the Sims? Man you need a life.
