@Jockolane LOL hey exactly. the Cedar finish i think looks way cooler than spruce finish. However I keep getting told that since I strum and play with a pick a lot that I should avoid cedar and buy spruce because cedar is too soft to hold up for a strumming guitarist. It's annoying me xD, I wish spruce was the soft and cedar was the hard wood that I could strum to my heart's content. Now i don't know what to buy. the spruce to strum or risk the cedar to strum because I like cedar looks -.-
@jeshfred91 Yeh, seems like thats the case. I'm not even sure if its a question of cedar vs spruce because since those 3 weeks ago i've played a variety of cedar and spruces of different brands and as expected some cedars of one brand sounded better than spruces of another and vice versa...to my own ear. So really it's the guitar make + sound combination that is more important than the looks/wood. Some companies use the same woods differently it seems. Can you explain "overdriving" a gtar wood?
how does the action feel? Im wondering if my 514ce has an unusually higher action than others of the same model.. everyone says it has low action but mine seems pretty high..

@Drizzydid if you strum the cedar and get marks or even holes in it, it will just make the guitar look awesome

@Drizzydid I say go for the sound you want first over the look you want...

I love the Western Cedar top! Adds such a nice warm tone to it. I just wish they added binding throughout the guitar.

@afriend8888 lower it then?

@afriend8888, It's super easy to lower that action. I change mine to suit the string gauges I use. Takes 5 minutes.
