Lang Lang's strong personality tends to divide opinion. For the most part he performs this polonaise with an heroic quality and much bravura. He does tend to hammer a bit in the central octave section but taken as a whole its a very enjoyable performance with plenty of swagger.

Frankly, I'm not fond of this interpretation; the piece is meant to be heroic but not quite so explosive. But I will reserve judgment because he is a far better pianist than I; but one thing that still surprises me: How can people call Horowitz's performance of this same piece "perfect", "flawless", etc?
