LANG LANG WONDERFUL !!!!!! MERVEILLEUX PIANISTE UN DES PLUS GRAND DE CE MONDE DE LA MUSIQUE MERCI A LUI ET A TOI POUR LA VIDÉO UN VERO PIACERE THANKS YOU FRIENDSHIP RAYMOND
I have never seen in my live playing this pianopiece like this. It is the most beautiful version i have ever heard. Till now my most favoriet pianist was Sokolov, but I think that Lang Lang has beaten him. I hope I can ever see hime playing live.
Super-unique interpretation of heroic polonaise. Nobody can play like him though I suppose many people feel jealous. He is the now not only classical music figure but multi cultural star. Just expect some message for peace by extreme technique and charming interviews.
It is the most rowdiest performance I've ever heard!!!!! The theme of this masterpiece should be "the greatness of Poland". However, Mr. Lang's performance is resembling "Poland in tantrum"!!
BORING!!!! for 2 minutes ( i stopped there because it is annoying ) he plays with the same dinamics : fortissimo, there is not romantic crescendo, diminuendos which are basilary in Chopin. and his faces are only a marketing-technique because music should be listened not looked at. I am returning to listen some Bleachacz
By now the conventional wisdom is that Lang Lang is, oh man, so bad, he fucks up everything he touches something terrific. Well, what do you think of this? Yes, he lays on the theatricals, fuck, he would not be Lang Lang if he didn't, his fans would string him up in no time. But this is impressive, dramatic Chopin and lots of technique too, even if it's easy to nitpick if you do the usual "comparing" to whomever.
@MamaTataiChujBrata see this is whats wrong with this world...classical music is disappearing and other types of what people call music is taking over... yu clearly dnt know what true music is
@PianoBart958 I guess you can play it better than him.. then show us! record a video playing this and prove me wrong, otherwise close your mouth and listen to modern music if you are not intelligent enough to listen this...
@cappko I guess you did not even check my profile, because it IS there, played by ME. and yes, I think my interpretation is WAAAAY better than lang lang's. My technique perhaps not. Little stupid of yours, don't you think? to just assume i can't play it :P well, I can! fool xD
@chiehwenwang are you mentally fucked?! lang lang is one the worst pianists i have ever heard, he is worse then a mediocre pianist. you can't even get anywhere near comparing him to chopin.
it's very scary btw if one takes the number of people who worship Lang Lang and forget Sofronitsky as an indicator of where music is headed in the future. I probably don't need to go on other people's videos and criticize, but still
Lang Lang's strong personality tends to divide opinion. For the most part he performs this polonaise with an heroic quality and much bravura. He does tend to hammer a bit in the central octave section but taken as a whole its a very enjoyable performance with plenty of swagger.
@davsone it's called tempo rubato, not "tempo changes"...
if you're going to critique music, use the right terms, otherwise you're just a blind fool who doesn't even know what music is and just blindly conform with what others say, if you could play better than Lang Lang, upload a video of yourself playing this piece and see how others judge you
@marchesi1993 It's hard to discuss anything with idiots whose only defense is: "YOU can't play better, therefore you're point is invalid and you're simply an envious loafer." But let's state this for the record - it's not at all difficult to play better than Lang Lang, when all he has is fast fingers and theatrical body movements. There are many things in piano playing which are much more difficult than that - such as channeling all your emotion into your sound and not into your face.
@themindandmusic ummm dude... first mistake, you called me an idiot, go and do a simple differential equation, note it's simple, and then take some of your hateful words and shove them up your ass, because that's all you deserve as well, if you can't do better how the hell can you know what to do? sure you can tell someone to jump off a bridge, it's easier said than done, as well you shouldn't criticize people for how they perform the piece, if i place two piano players behind curtains i doubt
@themindandmusic you would even be able to tell who is who, you just concentrate on the most retarded of all arguments that he puts too much energy or emotion in his face and body, well you know what? franz lizst (spelling?) taught his students to play with the whole body over the keyboard, and even if chopin taught the opposite, doesn't mean you can't choose what you want to do. If music was about others telling you how to play then it's not art and music, it's just a bunch of external ideas
@themindandmusic oh right, and if it was actually not all that hard, please actually go out and do it and make it better than lang lang, you simply don't seem to understand what I meant. so i'll make it clearer, you probably can't play that piece the piece that he played, and for the record, it is hard, i also believe you do not have a PhD in music so you simply don't understand how hard it is to play a piece and have people appreciate it. I don't have a PhD, but from the people who do, they say
@themindandmusic lang lang plays pretty damn good, better than most other performers. I don't get what's wrong with you haters. if you don't like his actions, then scroll down, don't talk when you can't do.
@marchesi1993 right that was a mistake, I was reffering to people in general..... but seeing your previous comments I should have been more specific.
Actually you're wrong about that. I was able to guess Lang Lang's playing of the Paganini Raphosody on WQXR without having heard that recording before or the anoouncers..... based on his tonelessness and wild exxagerations and dryness
Sofronitsky, Yudina, Neauhaus, Gilels, Kempff, Barenboim, Pires, Lupu, Rachmaninov, Hoffman, do you want more?
@themindandmusic mhm and the proof that you guessed correct was where? as well weathermen and pianists are two different people. And a weatherman doesn't have to be that smart, judging from your comments you should have been more specific about who is stupid, and that is yourself. As well, you still can't prove that you can play better than lang lang as your previous comments have stated,"it's not hard to play better than lang lang" so please try to upload one, i'd be glad to hear you play the
@marchesi1993 also don't bother judging the playing of people whom you have never heard. I don't have a PhD but as they say, it doesn't take a weatherman to tell which way the wind is blowing.
@themindandmusic piano. As well, I doubt you would even have the guts to go to lang lang after he had performed and critique his methods of playing the piano because you're spineless that way. And maybe you're just tone-deaf or you're jealous that he can indulge in the music that he can ignore your arrogant tone-deaf stupidity.
Now if you don't like the way he plays, then scroll down, if you don't like the sound he makes, don't comment hatred on his videos.
@marchesi1993 yes do you know who else was descended from Franz Liszt via teachers? Rachmaninov. And he sat quite still. And yes, as Horowitz said: "When you can't play the piece, you make faces." Music is sound, not bodily motions or faces.
@themindandmusic P.S. Citation for what Horowitz said and how Rachmaninoff played would be nice. And if you watch a conductor, he doesn't make a sound, but he does move alot and yes he makes faces. As well, don't take it that I don't like horowitz, I love his music, then again, I am more accepting than you are, seeing that you post hateful comments of artists.
@marchesi1993 and a conductor has a different function than a soloist. He has to bring the orchestra together to play according to his interpretation. That requires a lot of movement. Expressing the interpretation on the piano takes very little emoting.
@themindandmusic then i guess you're just an emotionless s person. And so concludes my commentary on emotionless people. First you say you hate his body movement, and horowitz dislikes it apparently, but when i tell you just scroll down you complain there's no emotion. Well you can't have your cake and eat it.. it's stupid.. I'm out of this discourse with people who have not logical mind process. I bit you good day dumb butt
@marchesi1993 oh and a 15 year old apparently knows more about music than lang lang? well that's just shocking. You're just an amateur that is jealous and cant admit it. Suck it up pussy and go live a life. If lang lang was so disliked, then why do other people put videos of him, not just some, but thousands. So please THINK, that is the essence of living, thinking, because you are a rational agent. but you give the impression that you are not. so just shut up and listen
@themindandmusic oh and i did just happen to read all of those composers, and none of them said they disliked bodily movements so please just shut up and listen
@marchesi1993 and if you watch glenn gould, he moves a friggin lot and bach is one that does not require movement, just absolute concentration, yet he was known best for his interpretation of bach. so please shut up again and think you 15 year old 9th-10th grader who has no life experiences, hell, even worldly travels
@marchesi1993 right, first of all you don't understand my argument. All the emotion that goes into his face does not go at all into his sound. It's incredibly dry, and colorless and the only emotion he seems to have is in his body,. Glenn Gould's movements were not at all the only ingredient, or even the main ingredient of his playing. Lang lang makes it into a special show in itself. And music is something very difficult to make well - but Lang Lang does not at all suceed in expressing
@themindandmusic anything. that's my argument that it's "not hard to play better than Lang Lang," since all he does is play fast, loud and make faces which are not simply a by-product of the playing (as in great musicians like Gould) but a permanent and fundamental aspect. What is difficult is to express emotions in sound, and that is something which Lang Lang doesn't do. What color or variety is there? What tone? And lastly, no one is trying to guess your phsycology.
@themindandmusic OK then GO Play this piece, seriously, it's like saying to a pro football player that it's not harder to play better than him, all he does is run faster than me and throws harder, well GO AND DO IT SEE IF YOU CAN, it seems as though YOU don't understand my argument. Therefore, please shut up
@themindandmusic well go ahead and play it, that's all the reasoning that I need to prove that you're a jealous kid that can't play anywhere near a concert pianist without crying out that you suck by insulting them
The people who called this "travesty", can you do better?
The new generation comes in, comes in very hard (and no, I'm not talking about myself). I really respect oldies, especially I love Horowitz's interpretation on this piece, but seriously, can everybody just ..move on?
Everyone ridiculed the masters when they were young and fresh, let's not just forget about this fact too.
@boopkit I don't have to be able to do it better myself. I'm no virtuoso pianist, but I can play reasonably well and I can read the score. And I can compare with the great Chopin pianists like Rubinstein, Pollini and Zimerman. I stand by what I said: This is a travesty!
@d4ni3lschi4v0 I suggest you to carefully listen to Gilels rendition of this Polonaise, before saying that Pollini is better. Pollini is a great pianist, but Gilels is in another league.
@d4ni3lschi4v0 Gilels was born in 1916 and was one of the greatest pianistis of all times. Gilels Horowitz and Richter where the three greatest russian pianists. None of them took part in Chopin Piano Competition, they were another generation. He was awarded first prize at the 1938 Ysaÿe International Festival in Brussels by a distinguished jury whose members included Arthur Rubinstein, leaving behind pianists like Benedetti Michelangeli (seventh position). You cannot compare him to Pollini.
Frankly, I'm not fond of this interpretation; the piece is meant to be heroic but not quite so explosive. But I will reserve judgment because he is a far better pianist than I; but one thing that still surprises me: How can people call Horowitz's performance of this same piece "perfect", "flawless", etc? He treats the piece as a flash-bang as much as Lang Lang, and he's got mistakes scattered all the way through, unlike Lang Lang here.
@Quotenwagnerianer I agree with you. Can you tell me your mind about Bernard d'Ascoli? His versions is one of the best I've heard. (name of the video is "Chopin polonaise heroique")
@d4ni3lschi4v0 I ever heart and decided, just try to make know this pianist who really deserves in my opinion to be discovered. Well give me your mind about him :P

I love horowitz too
Look up Rachmaninov on Wikipedia; Horowitz openly despised extra movements, if you watch some of his interviews
go listen to Sofronitsky. And anybody can be born with fast fingers, the difficulty is in truly expressing the music through one's sound.
If you listen without watching the exagarated bodily motions, it is extremely dis-passionate

@themindandmusic oh and i did just happen to read all of those composers, and none of them said they disliked bodily movements so please just shut up and listen
marchesi1993 1 year ago
@marchesi1993 and if you watch glenn gould, he moves a friggin lot and bach is one that does not require movement, just absolute concentration, yet he was known best for his interpretation of bach. so please shut up again and think you 15 year old 9th-10th grader who has no life experiences, hell, even worldly travels
marchesi1993 1 year ago
@marchesi1993 right, first of all you don't understand my argument. All the emotion that goes into his face does not go at all into his sound. It's incredibly dry, and colorless and the only emotion he seems to have is in his body,. Glenn Gould's movements were not at all the only ingredient, or even the main ingredient of his playing. Lang lang makes it into a special show in itself. And music is something very difficult to make well - but Lang Lang does not at all suceed in expressing
themindandmusic 1 year ago

Therefore, please shut up
marchesi1993 1 year ago
@marchesi1993 yeah I've been actually articulating my reasoning, you're just yelling "Well YOU CAN GO PLAY IT"
whatever.
themindandmusic 1 year ago
@themindandmusic well go ahead and play it, that's all the reasoning that I need to prove that you're a jealous kid that can't play anywhere near a concert pianist without crying out that you suck by insulting them
marchesi1993 1 year ago
@marchesi1993 that's all the reasoning you need..... well suit yourself

ランランは日本でも高く評価されているがこのピアニストのどこがよいのかっさっぽりわからない
確かにパフォーマンスはいいかもしれないが、彼の演奏は明らかに美しいものを壊している気がする。

The people who called this "travesty", can you do better?
The new generation comes in, comes in very hard (and no, I'm not talking about myself). I really respect oldies, especially I love Horowitz's interpretation on this piece, but seriously, can everybody just ..move on?
Everyone ridiculed the masters when they were young and fresh, let's not just forget about this fact too.
boopkit 1 year ago
@boopkit I don't have to be able to do it better myself. I'm no virtuoso pianist, but I can play reasonably well and I can read the score. And I can compare with the great Chopin pianists like Rubinstein, Pollini and Zimerman. I stand by what I said: This is a travesty!

完璧な表現ですね

To Quotenwagerianer - you are absolutely right - TRAVESTY is the only word to describe it.

awful. he played it definitly wrong. strange dynamic and tempo , too much forte, no rubato, he should read more carefully notes.

Fuck that clown... Listen to Gilels interpretation of this masterpiece if you want to get inside true music...
AndreAx1985 1 year ago
@AndreAx1985 Gilels is left behind, listen to this polonaise with Maurizzio Pollini and meet with Chopin
d4ni3lschi4v0 1 year ago
@d4ni3lschi4v0 I suggest you to carefully listen to Gilels rendition of this Polonaise, before saying that Pollini is better. Pollini is a great pianist, but Gilels is in another league.
AndreAx1985 1 year ago
@AndreAx1985 do not think so Maurizzio Pollini is an excellent interpreter of Chopin, or Gilels won the Chopin international piano competition?
d4ni3lschi4v0 1 year ago
@d4ni3lschi4v0 Gilels was born in 1916 and was one of the greatest pianistis of all times. Gilels Horowitz and Richter where the three greatest russian pianists. None of them took part in Chopin Piano Competition, they were another generation. He was awarded first prize at the 1938 Ysaÿe International Festival in Brussels by a distinguished jury whose members included Arthur Rubinstein, leaving behind pianists like Benedetti Michelangeli (seventh position). You cannot compare him to Pollini.
AndreAx1985 1 year ago
@d4ni3lschi4v0 Nevertheless Pollini is an awesome contemporary interpreter.
AndreAx1985 1 year ago
@AndreAx1985 Pollini have one of the best versions of the heroic polonaise, Gilels is good, but Pollini will always be a step up.

you are amazing..!!! marry me!!!lol

He treats the piece as a flash-bang as much as Lang Lang, and he's got mistakes scattered all the way through, unlike Lang Lang here.
starwarsfanboy 1 year ago
This is a joke, isn't it? That's actually the first time I listend to Lang Lang play Chopin... and I didn't expect this.
And people say he is at home with Chopin...
Are you deaf?! That's not Chopin it's a travesty!

THen I suggest you to listen to his chopin concertos recording. Hope that'll make change your opinion. kind regards

@Quotenwagnerianer I agree with you. Can you tell me your mind about Bernard d'Ascoli? His versions is one of the best I've heard. (name of the video is "Chopin polonaise heroique")
