  • @nasvalld why not? The best way to get it into reverse without the grinding with put it in either 1st or 5th then reverse

  • @freeloader700 I think he is referring to if you on accident pulled into a phantom 6th gear.........My Stang is a 5 speed and it's all the way right and down but not directly back from 5th.

  • @freeloader700 you are right!  putting it into another gear before attempting to find reverse prevents grinding because REVERSE is not synchronized. Putting it in another gear first stops the transmission from spinning; thus, reverse won't grind!

  • @freeloader700 acually, not bashing you or anything, but if you look at how the T5s work, it works better if you put it in 4th and then into reverse, cause 4th stops everything better that any other gear. just know this cause i just rebuilt mine myself and learned alot about how the thing works.

  • @freeloader700 I think he might have been talking about how you go straight from 5th to reverse. Seems like there isnt a lockout there.

  • @nasvalld Most cars have a latch that slides it into 4th instead of reverse.

  • @nasvalld There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to go from 5th to reverse. The problem only arises when the car lets you go into reverse while the car is moving forward.

  • definitely stock lol. aftermarket short throws are tighter than that 

  • @FoxBody77 defaintely shorter than that too...even if you have a steeda or something on the tall setting it's still shorter than that...thath's definately stock...my pro5.0 in my 94 (so did the pro 5.0 in my 95 my steeda in my 97 cobra, hurst in my 98 gt, etc) all made the shifter boot scrinkle alot and fold up...this one is still straight out like stock lol

  • i have a 92 5.0 and my shifter looks exactely the same, and mine shifter is still stock for now lol

    I'm talking about where you barely have to press in the clutch to disengage it.

  • I don't think there is such a thing as a short throw clutch...just the shifter. There is adjustable clutch cables to make the desired operation of the clutch but thats about it from what I know

  • it could be an aftermarket short throw with a long handle or the stock one (which is pretty long lol). it clicks like an aftermarket shifter with the adjustable stops and it seems to be a kinda short throw between gears but it's about as long as stock. the steeda tri ax I had used to have a setting for tall and a setting for short handle height maybe it's one of those set on the long setting or just the stock handle on an aftermarket shifter. just take the boot and stuff off and find out

  • So have u took it to the track yet? Does the intake spacer actually help it in anything?

  • No I haven't hit track yet. I was about to but rain came and I haven't been able to since. The spacer was mostly to fit the intake with the valve covers, I do think it does MUCH...it just lengthens the intake runners and it can generate more Tq. I belive thats how it is..

  • Oh ok that sucks that you haven't been able to take it to the track but when you do post some vids. Yea that's what my knowledge was about the spacer but someone had told be that it actually did not increase anything, i guess they were wrong.

    Im going to be picking up a fox in like a month and im probably gonna drop a short throw shifter in rite away if it doesnt already have one. and im gonna follow that with flowmaster catback and probably a bbk h pipe
