Dude, can you PLEASE tell me how to tuned those or what you tuned them to. I'm picking up these heads soon and they sound awesome. help me out please?
I'm finding the ideal Remo head. Now that I have heard the Pinstripes, I feel like buying it. Eh, how much did you pay for it for each? They sound heavy as fuck.
Great sounding kit and nice chops, i recommend changing some settings on the recording when you record your snare, it sounds like a hip hop snare in this recording.
cunt fuck i love it how do you get that sound outta your heads? i have pinstripes too and i dont know how to get a sound like that also i just got the drums a few days ago so i really needa figure this out :p
@blestdrummer well, if you want heads that are kind of more muffled go with the Pinstripes. If you want a more open tone that resonates and rings more, go with the G2s.
Pinstripes are for people who cant tune drums. Its pretty much just a 'pre-muffled' drum head if that makes sense. BUT... you put dampening rings on the toms aswell!!! No wonder they sound like cardboard boxes! Watch some drum tuning videos on youtube and get some tips
I hope you all know that there is no right or wrong when it comes to ones drumset, some of you think the heads sound horrible while others love it, and if he muffles it, who cares? Its his set and i personally like that heavy/punchy sound. Just wanted throw this out there
I've read goo things about these heads. My current heads are remo weatherkings and I'm think of upgrading to pinstripes. I mostly play 90's alternative (eg smashing pumpkins, stone temple pilots) classic rock (rolling stones) and 2000's indie (the black keys) what do you think?
the toms sounds great. and theres nothing wrong with self muffeling. it saves you money, but some people can screw it up by doing it wrong. they sound somewhat dead but not terrible.
but the snare. that does need some work. It sounds like you're hitting paper. but this sounds great.
Im sort of new at drums, but im thinking of replacing my Pearl DrumHeads(toms and snare), but not the Resonant heads, the other ones, and im thinking of Remo because they're not as expensive as Evans, so please tell me if with the REMO Pinstripe you just need one of those Rings(you have Evans's E-ring i Have the Remo ones) to "cut" all those overtones and make a quick sound????
Im looking for that quick tom sound and i need your help
@joaoa13portugal Remo pinstripe are very tuneable and you can get a very nice open articulate sound from them if they are tuned properly without damping, unlike these drums which sound like plastic buckets, they are way over dampened with no tone, if thats your thing then muffle them but if you want to take away the "slap" from the stick go for coated heads. i recommend evans g2 coated no damping for a punchy but tuneful sound, and swap you pearl top heads to the bottom if they are still new.
nope. nothing. just played and recorded. I didnt even set the levels on the mics back then because i didnt have a proper mixer, it just went straight into the computer
dude, let me get this straight. you use remo pinstripe heads and u put an e ring on the heads. and thats all u do to get that sound? i've been trying to years to get that deep toned sound without a lot of resonance. so is that all u do? along with correct tuning.
do the drum mics do a lot for how you want it sound man?? cuz I have these same heads with Remo resonant heads as well and they don't sound this amazing haha!!
hey man what do you tune your toms and bass drum to with the drum dial? i want that badass sound it killer your amazing! what do you use as your resonant head?
@NICKELBAG25 in this video its somewhere between 65-80 for each tom, i cant quite remember, and the kick drum is triggered so the tuning is irrelevant :)
@livingdeadbeatuk ok man thanks alot!! i'm a pretty bad tuner and just got a drum dial and a whole set of remo pinstripe heads so i'm going 2 tune them somewhere in that range then.thanks again.
BADASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! man your killer i'm a good drummer my self but i have the most hardest time tuneing my drums so i use a drum dial/tuner and i wanted 2 know what number range do you tune your TOMS AND BASS DRUM to to get such a killer sound?
Sick dude! I also have Tama Imperial Star.. and am getting Remo Pinstripes.. going to keep the resonant heads stock for now. But it's essentially the same sets then , haha. How'd you like your drumset with those heads w/stock resonant? I know you have new stuff now, but I'm still making my decision :P
kurt 247 i also have pinstripes with remo e rings on my toms , it does muffle them a lot but i can honestly say they sound better than without the rings. And when you want to open them up all you do is take the rings off. Personally i think the rings sound good even on a muffled head. Especially on the floor tom!
@heavymetal999 The Remo Pinstripe heads already have a dampening agent ( the 'pinstripe' ) to reduce the overtones to get the perfect sound, but if you muffle ( evans e rings, rem O's,etc ) you would just get rid of the resonance/overtones almost complete and it will just kill the tone. Better muffling solutions would be to use MoonGels as they dont kill the tone even on self muffled heads, where as evans e rings just kill it and actually hurt the tone if left on the drums for too long.
@XxKurt247Xx not true. i use pinstripes with e rings too, and mine sound great, must be his tuning. and you need muffling for floor toms, no matter what anyone says, self muffled or not
u have to no that mics make em sound alot more better trust me ino from facts and ino from gigs but u can still get toms to sound like that with no mics
my drums sound amazing in person, but when i record they sound like shit, but its just because i have shitty mics, plus when I EQ them it sounds real good so w/e haha
aha ok... :( i am a little disapointed.. when you play on toms and bass drum together do you hear bass drum... because when i hit on toms and bass together i dont hear bass on my set... but are you happy with pinstripe? or are you a little disapointed? by the way do you have msn? i dont want to ask you all on you tube on msn is faster :).. write back
i hear a clear combination of both, you may have your kick drum to muffled or tuned too tight on the reso head. i have mine half to quarter full of pillows and shit, with the batter headtuned tight and the reso head not as tight. and im completely happy with my Pinstripes, i still have them and they still sound great to this day.
cool... i have it too... but i have the basic drum heads.. sounds very bad.. you have pinstripe.. is sound much better with them or sounds great only because of mics? please answer
