  • Some differences from the 46s: Windscreens, three-seat bench behind the cabs, hinged narrow cab door, flat armests, wimpier chimes than the 46s, vertical stancions of narrower diameter than the 46s and other stuff I dont remember or was not aware of. Before rehab they had a whistling brake release sound. I dont think you heard any motor sounds either. I know that is true for the SMEEs as delivered. These cars were first loved for their comfort, then hated for inferiority to the Pullman 46s

  • why did r44 stop running?

  • @boratfantaic Structural underbody and frame problems made it unsafe. But they run out on the SIR

  • I loved the howling sound from this set. One of the R-46's on the A line sounded like this awhile back.

  • @slade747 Theres a few that howl

  • @r142abve Yeah. Wonder if that's because of the age of the gears or transplanted from the R-44.

  • @slade747 Nah

  • Ill miss the awkward seat colors.

  • @913861 The bucket seating trains have them such as the R46's,R68/A & R62/A.

  • Wait so what cars are on the A line now??? This sucks, I grew up riding R44 A trains.

  • @KrayzieCD Nothing but R46's.They've appeared on the (A) about 2yrs ago and slowly started to retire the R44's.

  • @KrayzieCD r46s are on the a now

  • damn there gone. I wish they were still here, oh how I miss them.

    :i

  • R44s are awesome :)
