  • this brings back the good ol days

  • take me back real music, without the cheating lyrics .its refreshing

  • Why would she need to answer the bell for her husband... wouldn't he have a key?

  • Blows away Bab's version all to hell. And that is a good thing.

  • This song remains FRESH whatever decade you listen to it!

  • Saw them live in late 60s. My first concert, ever. I haven't seen a better show since. I have to agree that M. McCoo is among my top 5, if not top 1 of best female singers and The Fifth is among my top 5 groups, also. Marilyn's voice is simply beautiful and grabs you from the start, without any outlandish vocal acrobatics. If anybody remembers The Seekers, circa mid to late 60s, ie; "I Know I'll Never Find Another You" , check them out. You'll see/hear why I mentioned them in this post.

  • this song takes me back to my track and field days at John Marshall High School on the West Side of Chicago back in the early '70s'. It specifically reminds meof Kevin 'Rockchild' Cherry and Naomi Willis. Kevin got killed in 1980, I believe, and I found Naomi years later but she is nothing of the younglady I was so in love with back then. GOD BLESS!!! bilbo2shire

  • @bilbo2shire 10th grade John Muir High school in Pasadena, California for me, Wonderful school year.

  • Awesome,Nothing like this nowadays! Smooootth!

  • THIS SONG IS FROM WHEN MUSIC WAS GOOD!!!

  • Music has no age borders. I like your comment Randiyle22. :o)

  • kristin chenowith did a pretty good cover of this on glee, i dont think she put that much emotion into it... but thats just me *shrug* haters gonna hate

  • well the good news is that if glee keeps using music like this the newer generation may actually know a form of the great music from the past. unfortunately i'm 22 and have never heard this song in it's original form but am excited to do so now.

  • What a voice! So sultry, so womanly, so gorgeous.

  • We've all been there... but they put it to words and music. I miss this era so much. thanks for a wonderful post. Really!

  • One of the greatest songs of all time! Very sad love song but absolutely gorgeous. Thanx for posting!

  • you can fry that egg for me!

  • Magical a heart breaking romance

  • Hmm I always ate two eggs.

  • I heard this record in an episode of "To Catch a Spy" I think, at the age of 8 or 9. it took me 15 years to find a copy in the record shop. It still sounds good today.

  • Either I am getting old, radio stations overlook good songs, or today's generation has no concept of good music. The song was played as part of a clue on "Jeopardy!", and not one of the contestants, who appeared to be in their 30s and early 40s, could identify it.

  • @primogennaio Well none of those things are mutually exclusive. I am 33 and am a big fan of the 5th Dimension, and this era of pop. But, I am fascinated by pop throughout the eras, and was fortunate enough to have a mom and grandmother that used to sing along with all their favorite songs from their respective times. My mom used to get super over the top and pretend to have a breakdown when she'd sing this song in the car!

  • @JerryTKangaroo My hat off to your mom and Grandma for showing you the good music from years past. I also salute you for being openminded and willing to enjoy and appreciate it. Unfortunately, can't say it about much of the present generation.

  • Wow! Does ANYBODY sing this good anymore? No.

  • I turn to this channel every day..

  • flawless the voice of an angel Miss M

  • She is a Legend from the 60-70 era that sings in a distinctive style that made me cry and sing with her. What is it about her love ballads that make her sound as good today as 45 years ago?She was educated,good-looking,and when you heard her and the FD..every song was one I would listen to again, and again...A timeless voice that is as haunting and sexy as ever.

  • I wouldn't have left her. That said, why did he have to ring the doorbell to get into his own house? Maybe that's why he left.

  • I L O V E This Song, This Group and Her Voice!!!! The music, arrangement and such an elegant expression of heartache!

  • @vytildie Yes it is.

  • What a great voice and a beautiful woman.

  • When I was a teenager (13) and I'd hear this sing being played on the radio, I use to feel so sorry for the lady that was singing the song. I mean badddddd! What could I do to help her find her husband?

  • @shadesmagazine lol - I love that story!

  • @shadesmagazine Me TOO I was about 4! Isn't it a treat to come on youtube and kinda touch down in one's past on fond memories!

  • Marilyn McCoo had one of the most beautiful voices in all of pop history, so perfect and she was gorgeous (and still is). This, along with Up, Up and Away and their cover of Harlem are my favorite songs by them. I never get tired of this.

  • This was one of the pop musical groups that definitely defined the early 70's

  • they were so planetary.... that is kool. i wonder what their REAL meetings consisted of.. they were HIT MAKERS.. they were connected.

  • OMG i love this song too. This group was wonderful

  • Why don't they have talented singers like this today?! It's frustrating!

  • @SpazChat We do, but they're not singing songs like this. Times will always change. But if you are blessed to have a voice, go for it! I would.

  • @amberfwn , Unfortunately music like this is for the most part considered elevator music. There are a few good ones left. Christina Aguilera sings real stuff, but she doesn't get the attention you would think. Everyone wants flash and trash these days like Lady Gaga, even though I think Lady Gaga is quite talented, somehow her voice doesn't do anything for me. And she sings space case songs, kind of like Deborah Harry did

  • makes me stop, pause and think..... what if....

  • Marilyn McCoo is by far one of the 5 best women singers of all time, and she owns this song. No one come close.

  • 0:22 "egg to fry...." and she hits the higher note with poetry, flutey, with a lovely pure warble. I'm in heaven. And her sense of build-up is wonderful. No flaunting oversing thing - just feelings, in a groove.

  • finally i founed this song heheh xD

  • The best version of this song. So sick of Glee lousing up classics.

  • one of the most beautiful voices in music history

  • One of my favorite songs of all time.

  • MM has one of the most amazing voices. No gimmicks, just great vocals.

  • Great song, fantastic performance. However, they look like they are on another planet that makes everyone turn to Jello. All that slow waving around.

  • Great tune, great vocals, but PLEASE call the fashion police! LOL!

  • back when music didn't suck!

  • Saw them live in Vegas in '72.

Worth every penny[actually $, as my wife found out ALL ABOUT slot machines, as we lined up by them before entry for the show.]

I had to LITERALLY put her over my shoulder, and pULL her away from playing 3 machines at a time.

    STILL,worth every penny!

  • teebonefive: I love the look of this group each one of them looks great and the costumes are so spectacular not to mention the sound

  • Marilyn,Please marry me and sing to me every night,

  • Thanks The 5th was " THE BEST " of All Time + they're in concert @ the Hard Rock in Hollywood Fla. on May 26 a Thursday hope you all can be there !!! soo looking forward !!!!

  • I cry every time I hear this song

  • I totally miss Marylin Mc Coo and this Great Group + This Point in Time [ so hard to go back in time ] + times do change, but, I truery miss this great group , plus these great times , thanks for reading this....

  • Beleive it or not, this song brings back memories from 1970, blasting thru back canals in a Champ speedboat @ 75 MPH on the Dania Cut- Off Canal { South Fla. } on down to The Castaways Hotel in Miami, A time I'll Never forget.

  • Had a crush on her since I was 10 when I saw her sing from that big orange balloon. Her singing voice and even her speaking voice is beautiful. From what Ive read she's from a prominent family, parents both MD's, she went to UCLA. Someday I would like to meet her and kiss her, but unfortunately I would have to stand on a box.

  • This is very TRUE!

Most songs have a story behind them, Right?

    Thanks for the memories

  • THE FINEST PEICE OF MUSIC EVER RECORDED and performed by the FINEST SINGER IN THE WORLD + The finest group that has ever been, don't we all love THE FIFTH DEMENSION ? Thanks for reading this

  • the FINEST peice of music EVER written .. Period and performed by " The GEM of All time "

  • Amen, peachykeen838; how we long for those days.. Man, good times without a doubt... This is one of my favorites. Truly, music from another d_i_m_e_n_s_i_o_n**

  • And not just Marilyn OMG All of them have AWWWWWSOME voices. This is(or was) a FANTASTIC band.

  • Dear God, please give us good music like this again.

  • Wine is best while listening to this precious gem.

  • class, complex harmony, emotional singing without emoting, belting or screaming...what a concept!

  • That makes two of us. I miss these songs. Today's music just doesn't cut it. They are all very talented.

  • I sure would like to go back to the 70's!!!!

  • One of the greatest voices ever. What a beautiful woman. Great song, Great Group.

  • wow-there was really i time way back when-when musicians actually utilized thier god given talents-i don`t know where we are headed-listening to the music of today-it`s scarey! thank god for youtube that reminds us of the real music of the past

  • I agree, ahh the good old days they weren't bad at all.

  • Back when you had to have real talent to make it in the music business and people still had class and respect. I feel sorry for the kids today and the shit the music industry feeds them and passes off as music. Especially the males. Everyone's a bad ass or at least has to act as if. A generation who thinks that dealing drugs is a good career move and an institute of higher learning is a prison, who look like their clothes swallowed them. They look like clowns with their pants around their knees.

  • How did I forget this artist over the years? I came across her and old meories came back. Classy and vibrant!

  • @manila7979 Really, How could you have forgotten such a voice.... Marilyn sings as though she is living or reliving this tragic situation. Marilyn's God-given raw talent, backed-up with a very gifted trio of soul and you have the 5th Dimension....! ! ! Stunning vocals and a harmony rarely surpassed.

  • This is a bad joint right here...

  • Amazing!!

  • Marilyn > Diana

  • Marlyn MaCoo has the most amazing voice and that the Lord gave to her as now she is a Christian.Thank you for the memories and for the 5th Dimension for all their music.

  • the voice of an angel.. cannot be duplicated..

  • THIS SONG MAKE ME REMEBER, WHEN I USED TO GO TO DANCE, VERY ROMANTIC, I USED TO SING IT AT EAR, AND MOVING ONLY TWO FEET, WHIT MY ARMS AROUND THE GIRLS. 73 TO 75, AND STILL LISTENING WHEN IT´S POSSIBLE, THIS GREAT VOICE, I´M FROM MTY. MEXICO

  • its no bieber

  • Chessy wardrobe!! Great vocals especially Marilyn's!!!

  • @johnnyw12 Maybe Gaga's outfits are more appealing but she couldn't match this voice ever!

  • Wow!

  • Beautiful and sad all in one, I wish we had the 5th Dimension again...

  • Nobody sings this song better than the 5th Dimension. It is amazing.

  • marylin is my all time fave female.she is so special.after watching this vid with the lighting and the mini mini skirts i feel as tho even more of her has been exposed 2 me

  • This is one fantastic group of the 70`s!!

  • Agree, there is some talent now, but PLEASE take me back! This is music. I miss it!

  • I watched the fifth dimension perform in Vegas at the Riviera several times in 73 and 74; I sat front and center, just 25 feet away, and they sang as well or better live than on their records, it is treasured memories, they were sooo good.

  • This has to be meaning song of all my very best .Do you think that women of today would MISS MEN LIKE THE WORDS OF THIS SONG .?

  • I remember seeing Marilyn on TV when I was a kid - it may have been the first time I heard this song. It still moves me just as much today as it did then.

  • One fo the best Bacharach songs, beautifully executed by the wonderful 5th DImension. Few could make Bacharach proud, and these guys most certainly do.

  • This song can waste a whole day. Rite?

  • I remember when this song was released. I spent the next 20 year trying to sing it like Marilyn lol.

  • @Becca092955 you know that "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery" ....I am sure you sound like an angel when you sing like Marilyn.

  • one of the best songs of all time

  • What a beautiful voice. Doesn't get any better than this.

  • Daaaaaaaaamn, i sampled this song 5 years ago, and lost it my computer died..

I always remember the lyrics, "one less bell to answer" and here i am today, good old memories...

    Thx for sharing

  • He left you because he's a moron. Only a moron would leave you Marilyn, it's that simple.

  • Sure beats the sewage that passes for music today.

  • Marilyn McCoo and Florence LaRue They are Hot.

  • Marilyn is in a class all by herself .. AMAZING vocals & interpretation .. And U can understand EVERY WORD she sings ..

  • She is great!

  • i love marilyn's delivery of the opening lines "..one less egg to fry"

  • Love this evergreen...

    Greetings from Denmark

  • Great song! I heard in Glee and fell in love with it

  • Great Song, I forgot just how many dam hits they had! I def. need the best of the 5th!

  • Cried tears of Joy for this one!! THX!!

  • nice , thanks, but how can i download this song to my computer... ty

  • Young people, THIS is how you sing a love song..RESPECT!

  • @BabyTorres AMEN!!!!

  • peterpan. hahaha youd think thay were gonna do a green giant commercial.

  • AWEsome...LuV ya'll!

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Being little and growing up in the 60's exposed me to all kinds of music. I'm glad to have the musical background that I have because the music today (if you can call it music), is mostly a bunch of glossed over crap.

  • @qrxhtso1 I LOVE THIS SONG.. PLAY IT ALL THE TIME

  • @qrxhtso1 I hear what your are saying. I too was born in the 60's (66) and luckily had very young parents and uncle3 and aunts who had the latest records. I remember getting Jackson 5's ABC record on the first day it hit the corner record store. I became a musician in the 70's thanks to Santana, Sly Stone, War, Chaka Khan, Hendrix, and so many others.

    Today's music is NOT music.

  • It may be hard to believe, but yes, there was a timed when these 5 incredible voices were criticized for not being " black enough". Sad, unbelievable, but it is true. They had the courage to keep singin like only they could, & today, we miss & love them more thasn ever. KUDOS to the Classy, 5th Dimension! Wolfsky9

  • this is an all time classic, wow what happened to the music?

  • She's such a pretty talented woman But not crazy about the lighting in this video at times makes her look scary.

  • Marilyn's Lead vocal is perfection and the back up vocals are equally great.

  • Did I ever have a crush on this beautiful lady! The perfect meshing of physical and Melodic. Her enunciation ,her diction, her voice were enough to make you fall in love with her. thanks for the memories!

  • wow what a song. Classic music at its best!! What a voice!

  • yes those were the days

  • I still marvel at how she hits that magical goose flesh note at the 2:12 mark, and her fellow “Dimensioners” lift it even higher with their pillowy harmonies behind her. Damn! I still have my original Bell 45-single of this “I'm not hearbroken, but I'm heartbroken” classic.

  • wow Thank you Glee for introducing me to amazing songs

  • Great and talented girl

  • Since my youthful days, I fell in love with this song. Really soothing and refreshing to the mind, this classic will never leave my memory until I go. As to the group, their popularity was never as such reenforced by media as the many other contemporary groups of their time. Therefore, the names of the artistes were not known but because of such classic exhibited, indeed one couldn't miss to know who they were. Thanks for this presentation.

  • I think Glee is introducing classics to the youth.. but you can't compete with the originals.. .it is like when studios release new versions of classic movies.. it just isn't the same.. you can never capture that first time experience no matter who sings it the second time or who acts the part the second time around.. I love orginals and no one can sing this with the emotion or soul as the original 5th dimension group ♥♥

  • Marilyn has such a beautiful voice! I love the oldies!

  • I love this song. I dedicate this song to my beloved husband who passed away at a young age and my best friend who just passed away from cancer. I love you both!

  • I love this song. I dedicate this song to my beloved husband who passed away 20 years ago and my best friend that passed away to cancer. God bless you both! You will always be remembered. I love you eternally

  • WOW...real instruments and vocal powerhouse...no autotune and visual gimmics..what is this??? Oh ,of course, it's from the 70's, ah yes, the cheesy 70's ( as they like to say) TAKE ME BACK !!!!

  • @dirtyedna yeah, the 70s was probably the last vestage of real naturally made music......before all the synth's and computers got involved

  • @inkey2 yeah...but when i hear music from the early years of the 80s...the 4 years 1980-1983 i still think that it was better then too than actual XXIst century music...

But i ve got to recognise that the very best music was from the 60s and 70s

  • @inkey2 yeh, maybe......... still good music today though...! And yet, Marilyn Macoo does this song it's due. Never been a better rendition.... might never be!

  • @dirtyedna You cannot buy what we all experienced back then. And spirit is something that no one destroys.

  • @rayjr62 -so very true! I have told my kids more than once that they will never know the thrill of turning on the radio because I could not wait to hear the new music that was "out". So much talent, and we took it for granted. We lived during the golden age of pop music !

  • This song reminds me soooo much of my daughter, murdered March 27 2010. Daddy misses You, Baby.....Rest in Peace, there will be Justice.

  • @csumjr I do not know your religion, but I am a Jehovah's Witness - we believe in the resurrection. YOU WILL SEE YOUR DAUGHTER AGAIN!

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!my sister played it so much, my mother had to tell her to take it off. It first appeared on IT TAKES A THIEF,

  • Boomers Rule!

  • Love this song more today than yesterday....... never love it less...!

  • i wish the people who keeps putting and error on my contents had one less bell to answer, im not saying anything vulgor or disrespectful at all what the hell is you guys problem STOP PUTTING AND ERROR ON MY COMMENTS.........................

  • i wish the people who keeps putting and error on my contents had one less bell to answer, im not saying anything vulgor or disrespectful at all what the hell is you guys problem

  • this song rips my heart out but they make it feel so good

  • I remember back in the 70's when I used to hear this song it always made me cry, I don't cry when I hear it any more, but it sure brings back memories, and good ones at that. Wish we had good singers/song writers today who could bring back the music. It all started to leave w/disco....rap.....hiphop......now nothing. Somebody needs to bring the music back!!!!! I love this group and all their songs always have.

  • this song gives me chills, was 2 when it came out just love it

  • They are the epitome of COOL.

  • MAN JUST LISTEN TO THAT TONE IN HER VOICE , THESE DAYS YOUNGER PEOPLE CAN'T SING WITH SUCH CONVICTION . THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN , I HAPPY I GREW UP WITH THIS KIND OF MUSIC

  • Silly as it may sound......... I hear Marilyn's voice singing 'One Less Bell' most of my day........... one of my absolute favorite songs of my life. No one could sing a song, this song, with such pure, raw emotion. Marilyn McCoo can't be outdone.

  • Love the Streisand version.:)

  • @billyboylb ...Streisand is talented, very talented, but she doesn't hold a candle to Marilyn McCoo on this song. Marilyn's voice is so very natural and her delivery is absolutely genuine. Noone sings this song better..!

  • @Hesperus135 I guess to each his own.

  • @billyboylb Thanks billyboy................Her voice and soulful conviction is real. Her interpretation is spot-on....... Only Marilyn does this song it's due..... I respect your love of Barbara, ..... but Marilyn, and the 5th dimension own this tune forever. Thanks for the reply

  • Marilyn McCoo is timeless and as far as I am concerned needs to be held in the

same regard as Karen Carpenter as far as her unique vocal intonation and

style that has never been followed or replicated She is a one and only truly

original vocalist and stylist and will stand the test of time.

  • poor quality video, but TIMELESS voice.

  • They're all wearing 'Release the Kracken' outfits!

  • This song reminds me of my mom. I love and miss you.

  • This song is just unreal. The way she sings the lyrics. She's just working the words in a pure art form. The tempo, the lyrics themselves, the backing music, the background vocals. It's all one singular thing of perfection. Her performance is beyond belief. Her, low, thick, full-bodied voice. How she anunciates the words, the expressiveness of the delivery of the "thoughts and feelings" by the SUNG lyric. This has got to be among the greatest of the great songs of all time.

  • I've been in love with Marilyn McCoo for 40 years!

  • @froggie6608 gross

  • i totally agree with you leilani1977 ... this was the best time of music... and 5th dimension one of the best...

  • At least Glee did not attempt to duplicate this version.... No one could come even close to Marilyn's performance of this classic.

  • I love the way that they walked on stage. Man, those were the days of songwriting, music, vocal and musical performances par excellence. Thanks for posting.

  • It still gives me goose bumps....haunting song. Love that voice. Love Marilyn McCoo. Love The 5th Dimension

  • @anna9092 That's the word I was looking for....haunting, but beautiful, nonetheless.

  • this is one of her best songs,,,

  • i love this song , also heard it on glee first, but wanted to search for the non mash up version

  • Dazzling !

  • Great song and singer

  • absolutely righteous tune!!! Old school songs definitely not only had meaning, but groove... the way music should be... cool video!

  • WON DA FUCKN FUL

  • you are absolutely right music today with very few exceptions stinks.does anyone know what this video is from I have never seen it.

  • Great To Go Back In Time ?
