  • Mets rock

  • After the embarrassment of yesterday's fielding.

I honestly think there is to many problems with this team that a hitter won't be able to fix.

Although I would like to see a power hitter, because we are the second best in on base percentage and batting average in the NL.

But we are also second worse in HR's, which means alot of runners on base are stranded.

  • thats what i think. omar & jerry say that they wanna wait til their 5 or 6 behind the phillies to make a move, but then whoever you bring in whether its matt holliday or adam dunn theyre gonna feel like its all on them to help this team til the injured guys get back. a

    and were last in HR

  • The thing is, that after the last two seasons you think that ownership would realize how important every game is.

Yet, they take the approach of, we will only make a trade if we dig ourself into a huge hole.

It doesn't sound like it would work, and also who can the Mets even offer in a trade package anyway?

  • teams are asking for jon niese, daniel murphy and fernando martinez and minaya dont wanna trade them. but there are other teams like the braves and giants who are also intrested in adam dunn or matt holliday and those teams, unlike the mets, have good prospects who the GMs dont mind trading

  • Ugh I'm not knowledgeable enough of the Mets minors and prospects, but I am to assume that those three are our best.

I mean Murphy has been struggling but he is still young, and he was great last year I wouldn't want to trade him.

The Mets are dead middle in ERA, and honestly if Oliver Perez comes back healthy and John Maine comes back healthy would we even need Jon Niese for a few years, we should unload him.

  • Also

Fernando Martinez will be blocked at his best position in the outfield anyway, since Murphy should take left, Ryan in right and Beltran in center.

And since all three of them have at one time proved that they could hit, and since Beltran and Church are good fielders, I think that we can get rid of F-Mart also.

  • hes a corner outfielder and they been playing him in center. and when delgado went down they said the experiment with murphy in LF is over and he was named the primary 1B. but if murphy is the primary first baseman, what do you do with him when delgado gets back?? and do you platoon church and sheffield in RF? cuz sheff is the team leader in HR

  • I read an article saying that Delgado might not even come back this season, and if he does it could possibly be to late anyway.

Also the only thing Sheffield gives us is a bat, however that is the thing we need most of all so we kind of need him in the lineup.

Also of anybody who has played significant time in the outfield. Murphy, and Fernando Martinez have easily been the worse two hitters.

How about platooning Sheffield and Murphy. And letting Nick Evans play first base.

    Murphy and

  • Also since the mets biggest problem is run producers.

Putting Sheffield and Church in the outfield gives us our two best hitting outfielders we have left, and also we should put in Jeremy Reed.

This way Reed gives us a contact hitter, and he probably has the most range of all anyway.

Sheffield gives us the cleanup hitter.

And although Church only has 2 hr's and a below 400 slugging percentage he still has gap and doubles power. Look at the last three seasons he played before this year.

  • those guys just need to hit until beltran gets back. but he will miss an extra 3-4 weeks but no surgery

  • Cool vid
