  • great video, good explanation

  • don't you just look like arnold schawzenneger?

  • Does it still work if you have blocked sinuses?

  • On Diaphragmatic Breathing you have to breath out from mouth or nose?

  • Dr.Steinman knows his breathing.

  • The attention is placed on the diaphragm, all the way around the body at the level of the bottom of the rib cage, with a rib flaring movement upon inhale, the belly may expand as a RESULT of this, yes, however you can just do belly breath only with minimal sensation of diaphragm movement, it is a huge difference one can immediately feel. There one or 2 websites out there that explain this in more detail and with animations, although if I type in their address I get an error warning

  • @scoutaboutster Now I got it! Thanks, scoutaboutster! can you type the address without dot com and other accessories?

  • This is belly breathing, it is not however diaphragmatic breathing, a common mistake

that is unfortunately being taught over and over again, by people who are in fact very caring and think they are doing diaphragmatic breathing!

  • @scoutaboutster REALLY? What is the difference? !

From wiki: "Diaphragmatic breathing, abdominal breathing, belly breathing or deep breathing is the act of breathing done by expanding one's belly and thereby allowing the diaphragm to move down creating more room for the lungs to expand, rather than only through chest wall expansion/ movement of the rib cage"

  • FAKE

  • does this help in singing?

  • Well this is not instructive really - there are better videos on the web. Also, notice during his talk he is using significant 'chest' breathing - his chest is rising significantly during inhalation. Useful video but certainly not the most informative.

  • @flubertin Actually, I did my best, and I think it is a good start for someone who habitually does not breath with their diaphragm.

    Scott

  • @scottvan1

Hi Scott, thanks for your reply. I know all about chest breathing because I can't manage the diaphragmatic breathing I need to do for playing the flute. I probably didn't understand your video intentions - I understood it to be a real instructive video. It certainly helps and demonstrates things. As i have implied, I can't get it correct - so you are doing much better than I am! Good luck and keep going!

  • @flubertin Thats why I said food grade. I am not talking about the oxygen peroxide that you use for burns and cuts.

  • @TrueGreatness73 Given this was on diaphragmatic breathing - not sure if this is the correct thread but: there is NO such thing as oxygen peroxide - it is hydrogen peroxide. Food grade is about 38% - the stuff for cuts etc is about 2% -both in aqueous solution. The bigger the % the greater the risk - I would prefer my chances with 2% poison rather than 38% - see what I mean? Again - no such thing as oxygen peroxide - that would be 0202 with the divalent (-)O-(-)O. Sorry.

  • @flubertin I meant "hydrogen" peroxide and there is food grade that is 3%. Its obvious you dont know much about hydrogen peroxide food grade thats 3%. I know people that use it and has seen many benefits from it. Maybe if you were to try it instead of reading these false books about it then you would know. i think you are thinking about jet fuel instead of what I am talking about. You are way off subject.

  • @TrueGreatness73 Yes of course there is food grade at 3% - it s an approximate value. Food grade simply means free of unwanted contaminants to a regulated degree and about 2%. I agree that people use many things and get a benefit. In fact Cisplatin is very toxic - it makes you loose weight, your hair fall out, you vomit etc but correctly used it is a very powerful chemotherapy drug! You will get more O2 in your body by breathing correctly than adding H2O2 to water - easy to test. Placebo?

  • @fluberin I doubt its Placebo effect. Its funny how many people that refuse to owe respect towards something they never tried like to use the Placebo effect excuse. People with a strong mind dont fall victim to placebo effect. The people I know who take it are family members. They been taking it for years and still no death only benefits. Maybe because my family has strong genes. Maybe only weak people will have harmful side effects like your saying. Not my family though. Sorry were not weak.

  • @TrueGreatness73 Well, what we put in to our bodies and in to our minds has a massive effect on out health - no surprise there ! It really doesn't matter if it is placebo or not, what matters is that it works. I believe many things are good for me - and others think they are not. things works for me so I do them - true also for many of my friends who take things like ion water etc; it works for them - and I have seen the benefits so that is all that matters I guess. Take care of your body!

  • @flubertin Yes indeed.

  • @flubertin yeah, don't be a dick

  • The body is deprived from oxygen every day due to stress and dieting. Oxygen is very essential to human health. Deep breathing gives the body the oxygen it needs. Also, I heard Oxygen Peroxide food grade works wonders with a few drops into water and drinking it. Oxygen Peroxide food grade is h202 and has extra Oxygen in it that gives your body extra air. Has many healthy benefits. Look it up.

  • @TrueGreatness73

The comment re H2O2 is total nonsense! H202 is hydrogen peroxide. It is a strong oxidizing agent and dissociates to produce hydroxyl free-radicals. These species are very reactive (they have a single unpaired electron in there outer energy level) an attack membrane lipids, your DNA etc. They can react with biological molecules to form organic free-radicals which increase the sensitivity of your cells to the carcinogenic effects of radiation as well as chemical attack.

  • Interesting to note that you suggest people practice this technique for 15 minutes per day but the fact of the matter is that people absolutely won't practice this for even three minutes every day.

So what is your solution to that ?

Any sort of breathing practice is one of the hardest things anyone can ever do. A pointer to that in a very simplistic way is the comment down below that has been voted off where he says that when he does this he feels hungry. One of many things that will arise.

  • That's not true at all. Only people who haven't realized the usefulness or importance of breathing practices won't do it. Many, many people practice breathing or meditation practices for up to hours a day. Personally I practice between 2 and a half to 3 hours a day. You have to actually do it consistently for some period of time, and when you actually attain some positive results it will be easier to maintain a daily practice.

  • I agree with you that many people practice various forms of meditation but that's a whole different matter, what I am talking about is a daily practice of controlled, focused, energetic breathing techniques, such as what is demonstrated in this video and certainly pranayama.

I estimate that even amongst regular practitioners of yoga that perhaps 5 out of every 1000 will go on to actually develop a committed daily practice based on those techniques and even then it will take years to develop.

  • GO! NOW! GET TO DA CHOPPA!!!

  • I read in the book "ask and it is given" that 15 minutes a day is good enough for meditation, just focusing on your breath for that period of time will make your life better, in other words setting aside time for breathing deeply and keeping your connection with your inner body daily. That also allows you to be more present, focusing on this moment as it is.

  • The "Best Teacher"...for Prana breathing...Honest and True!!! Very informative and easy to watch..Please give us more videos...

    Kudos Dude!!!

  • I follow the advice given here but I'm still tense, especially in the shoulders what am I doing wrong? And which is more important for relaxation, breathing out or breathing in?

Any response would be greatly appreciated

  • for how long have you been doing this?

when comes the time you will learn to focus on your breath, than you will feel relex. be calm an have pacience this, this hurry have let you tense.

  • I love it when people sound like they are talking with their nose! It sounds so funny! I love this video. Very helpful and amusing.

  • well i really enjoy'd that its very good cant waite to see more
