Hmmm, mostly. Americans have a faux adversarial system that either has positive or negative outcomes, when the truth is almost never absolute in either direction. But let's not get lost in the equation. Politics is a social group dynamic, and given that I believe that our analysis is insufficient to explain it with the same terms in which it is conceived. Hence all policy wonks are worthless, merely cheerleaders for the Puppets who act on behalf of the actual power structure.
Liberals are the filth of this society and the criminal scumbags that destroy rather than work together. Liberals and their unions are the greedy bastards of this culture. The filthy parasitic low lives they produce. Liberal must be rounded up and shipped to europe where they will be welcomed with open arms. Leave now parasites. Filth! 1 less liberal= 4-5 freed tax payers.
@ISUCN That is hilarious! ROTFLMAO!!! So the liberals leave and you are left to be free? To be left to act out as you see fit? Hmmm, very hard times ahead, son. Be careful what you wish for(the law of unintended consequences)!!! LOL!
A very interesting video and analysis, and I'm definitely inclined to agree with much of what you're saying.
I do think that generalising about "liberals" is a little unfair. The term itself encompasses such a wide variety of beliefs that it's impossible to summarise what hat group will collectively be thinking.
For one, anarchists, who will be lumped in the "liberal" camp, would oppose US foreign policy irrelevent of who's in charge.
WTF? Chomskians ARE liberals.( And supreme posers.) The worst ones. What the hell is all the equivocating about? It is all Rousseauan, statist, neo-Marxian totalitarianism.
ha! you are obviously talking out your ass because chomsky isn't statist. if you want to avoid sticking your foot in your mouth, don't make claims against things you obviously don't even know the basics behind.
liberals r pussies. they got sooo much authority, yet i guarantee u we'll always have troops in the middle east, never have single payer health, and always embrace corporations and war contractors.
same recycled bullshit. One corporate party to another. The people have only themselves
Hopefully. The common sense view is that some people will see through the idiocy and be outraged, some will become apathetic and some will toe the line. Beyond that, I think all bets are off at this point. We can be assured that the media will generally follow the established norm, barring any major shift in structure or any watershed events that allow real criticism.
I would like some one to tell me what they think Bill Maher is going to do now that democrats are in power. His show is all about name calling republicans, that is it, that is his whole show.
When you clear your mind and consider humans as simple animals, it's really quite interesting and amusing to watch us fail miserably at existence. Were like lemmings that try to control one another on the way to our self-imposed doom.
The best analogy I can think of is Pablo Fransico remarking that teens in horror movies are "so easy to kill you could strangle them with a cordless phone."
But to be fair, the average person has no idea how easy they are to manipulate.
Look at the "related videos" next to this one, with titles like "Obama: Marxism to Replace Capitalsim???" and "From Capitalism to Socialism Far LEft Liberal Barack OBama" Mainstream liberals will be busy saying "no, it's not true, Obama isn't socialist [etc]" our job is to point out, much more broadly, sane policy (e.g. European or Japan, Austral,Canada) on health care is not socialist either (medicare for all) and that Obama must move in that direction. Cliche but true: we must reframe debate
I think there's a chance that this spirit of participation in the political process, particularly among young people, may carry over now that they have had success and feel they can make a difference. That's what the real left needs to encourage.
Participate in what? How are young people gonna participate, by joining government programs for "service"? That's a nice idea but no substitute for participating in the major processes that affect our lives. The young should participate in serious institutional analysis first and then maybe they'll understand what we're up against.
The choice of Biden as Obama's running mate should have sent out a big signal. But McCain was such an ogre that I understand why it was impossible for many to simply stay home from the voting booths, as I did. Voting for the apparent lesser evil is not an occasion of celebration, but of cautious wait. I think that Obama has already promised as much as a war with Pakistan, and Bush, with his drone air strikes, has already lit that particular fuse.
Fuck 'liberals'. The political label makes no logical sense whatsoever. They are not liberal as for the most part they want to reduce people's freedoms with increased taxation, 'nanny' laws and regulation, etc. The Obama hype is annoying. I'm on the other side of the Atlantic and still can't escape it.
Thank you for saying that. Even some of my Marxist subscriptions are overjoyed at Obama's victory. But the liberals are full of shit. Just like Blair in '97, Obama will turn out to be a liar and an ass like the rest of the political elite. Like you say: business as usual.
Too true, he just appointed Emannuel as his chief of staff. The same Emannuel that pushed through NAFTA under the Clinton regime. The American press today is full of self-serving shit about how this proves that the country is the best. God, I really don't think people understand that this is nowhere close to the end of American imperialism.
You are absolutely right the election is not even half the battle though it is hostoric the obama is president he is still a politician and they promise the world and deliver nothing we need to keep him honest. Our work does not end with the bush administration.
as stated before (even by barrack in his acceptance speech) no one person can solve the problems america faces. most of america is republican leaning and only drifts to the left when the GOP screw up. in thinking about america, I like to think of england's empire, because like it predecessors america is hellbent on repeating the same mistakes. only the american people can change opinion in it's country and in doing so allow the democrats free reign in forwarding the progressive agenda.
That was a good call. Thanks for posting this vid.

Why are we unable to slove our economic woes? Because God is against the prosperity of a nation that routinely slaughters 25% of it's unborn.

I have one name for you: Glenn Greenwald.
Also, not being a good Team Player myself, I'm more than happy to criticize Obama for his desire to not "dwell on the past."

I wish there was a 3 party system, but there isn't. I wish I didn't feel like I had to vote against the most evil candidate, but I do.
One thing no one can deny, after 20 out of the last 28 years under Bush and Bush INC. has been a rough ride, and we needed a shift.
I wish the shift could be more drastic.
