Optometry is one of the worst professions to go into right now. Do not spend $150K on a degree that will likely not get you a job after graduation. A lot of patient exposure? Please - you'll see 1500 to 2000 patients during 2.5 years of internships. You'd see 5 times that as an MD student, even in a small program. Why doesn't an OD cost less? You will NOT make enough money in optometry to justify the cost of the degree. Do not look at current successful ODs and think you can do the same!
Is it $150K. Or is it $25, 000 per year for a total of $100,000? It takes a long time to pay that loan offi.
