New PSP game engine

Game engines are a pain in the ass.

I've tried others like Unity, DirectX Studio, GameStudio... the list goes on. The bottom line is that programming your own engine is the best way to go.

If the engine is very fast and flexible, chances are you'll have to suffer from no documentation.

Writing your own version of something that "acts" as an engine is way less gay than writing something gay like an engine, or using engines that bring not enough help.

Write games raw.

You can get Virtools on internet from their web, but the tricky is that you need the exporter for PSP. And that you have to ask it to Playstation. They only give it to developers from big companies only. It's a shame, though, alot of people could make AMAZING games with it. At least prototypes.

people are ignorant about the psp, psp games max capability for a game size is around 1.5 gigs, of space on a umd drive, with everything that is done in a game, there is not much space left to bump up the graphics of buildings or characters because the locations are what take up the most data, when/ if the psp2 gets around you wil see much improvement because of the new core

@130philip130 Im not 100% sure on this but you can go and pay up to $20,000 or more on a Official PSPSDK along with a Developer License. If you pay close attention to the computer, it look like a Sony Brand (for PSP Game Development) and he might not revile anything. .

You can try to use the Unofficial PSPSDK, but your PSP have to be modify to run Unsigned Code. New PSP's are hard to modify due to security built on the new firmwares.

Either way, something should work. Good Luck!

@Dariusc123456 The Unofficial PSP SDK won't work on Virtools, you need the official one. And AFAIK the psp devkit is $1500 (€1,200 in europe), Sony dropped the price more than 1 year ago.

PEOPLE PEOPLE! Stop trolling and saying dumb stuff. Its a engine editor and its real. Its used on a Dev Console (you need a license to get ne of these) and its a tech demo directly linked to the pc to test out the game. It's not fake, companies use that technique all the time to playtest during dev process (check some on the Cry Engine 3 vids from GDC 010). And the reason this game has nice graphics os because sonce it not a power consuming, the devs used that power to render.

its basically the phat(1000), slim 2000 and 3000(the new one with mic)..

the paht one is the oldest and the biggest for me its actually strongest of teh 3 coz its made of metal in its center. the 2000, and 3000 have not much diff. just that.. 3000 is using OLED as its screen maning ti has best color quality and it doesnt change even you turn it on an angle nad it also has mic..

is your going tp buy a psp right now.. i advise you to buy 2000(secondhand) then buy pspgo when its released..
