  • Randy you are amazing thank you :)

  • What is the question that he says she never asked him and what she answers?? I cant undersand :$ Somebody can tell me please.

  • @crisbetancourt He was saying that she never asked him about doing a film about his life after he was gone. When she asked him, he said it couldn't be done because there was no one pretty enough to play his wife. So sweet!

  • @ronkerbonks Thanks so much :) i need to keep inproving my English hehe and yeah He was the a great husband...

  • What an amazing man.....wow

  • Thank you, Randy, for taking the time to be a wordsmith and put your life lessons in writing. It is my hope that many generations to come will read your legacy and be insprired by it, just as I was!

  • RIP... Brave man...

  • My uncle is currently suffers from the same pancreatic cancer...huhuuhuhu.....worry alot....hope that he will get well soon and recovered

  • So inspirational!

  • my father was similar to this when he was dying, he planned his funeral and even wrote the speeches.. I really have to try and remember this instead of thinking the world owes me something for losing him.

    anyway, wanted to share that.

  • @Ladyluck2806 Thanks for sharing. Remember your father's strength and that this strength lives inside of you as well and then try to get out there and change the world even if only in the smallest of ways to begin...like smiling at a stranger. Hope your heartache eases soon.

  • Remember everyone, behind every great man is a greater woman. My thoughts are with you and your blessed kids Jai.

  • @BabeyyKaroleaa750 NO you tasteless, senseless MORON

  • My God, what an an amazingly inspirational man. Thank you Randy.

  • @itv300 because your mother is a stripper that allowed her drug dealers (i.e. tour father)s..call Maury) to screw you daily. this love is why you feel no empathy or care for other human beings. it's not your fault boo boo. ( all of those "F's on your report card-when you were enrolled in school-you know your mom's dancing and all-i regress)".now though your upbringing or lack there of is not an assumption, you have proved this to be fact. now curse me out, you know your vocabulary is limited.GO

  • GREAT STUFF !. I have a wife with MS - we are both 50.

Our kid's are in their late teens.

    This helped me.

    Thanks.

  • i think god did this because he is maybe smarter then einstein and he maybe can play with the dead if god didnt because he is damn smart and god did do this to nerds to because the nerds get bullied if that wasnt like that smart guys (nerds) woul have got very good jobs

  • Do you find a trusted wife gettop5.info

  • "somebody is going to push my family off a cliff pretty soon... but I have some time to sew some nets" great metaphor, absolutely brilliant

  • What an amazing man. Brings me to tears to watch this. Read the book to, amazing and inspirational. Rip.

  • Good Luck, Jai. I know it sounds weird, but I also know I speak with authority when I say there are metric shiploads of people who are in your corner.

  • wow

  • God Bless you forever!!

  • Some people are gifts for their families only, some others are to friends too, many are gifts for larger groups like students but very few are gifts to humanity like Randy Pausch. Thank you for all you have said and done!

  • this is sooo sad :(((

  • What a legend, what an outstanding life, what a fighter and what a hero!

I don't care who you are, if you don't optimise your life and contribute to your surrounding, you have wasted your life!

  • It would be cool, if Disney created a VR theme ride as a tribute too Pausch

  • @DoctorSapperstein Really you are the one who is an assHole! are you Human? I hope you never die from any disease!

  • @jessyca161

    hahaha.

i just watched this again (as much as i could take)

he says it's not fir & diane closes her eyes

    is this a comedy routine?

  • @DoctorSapperstein He's a caring ,loving, responsible, devoted father who's family won't have him around to provide for and protect them;

Get help before the rest of your life becomes a mean miserable failure.

  • @DoctorSapperstein like daying 'his dad won't be there for them"

  • @DoctorSapperstein Too bad your life is so miserable. It must hurt to have no respect or love from others. I can see where you are coming from and I never won't to be there. Maybe someday someone will have just a tiny bit of respect or love for you. good luck on that

  • @DoctorSapperstein Not at all. He is a devoted father who mourns the fact that he knows he will not be able to physically be in his children's lives...however he will CLEARLY be there in spirit....

  • @DoctorSapperstein

I don't care if you have so many thumbs down that your comments are hidden.

I agree with you. He's got an ego the size of the moon. His fate is very unfortunate, but simply because of his tragic death his personal flaws shouldn't be ignored. It shouldn't be taboo to express negative opinions on victims of tragedy. They're human like us. And much like us, they have flaws. We have a right to express our opinion on this matter. We're not 'miserable failures' because of it.

  • Just got finished reading his book. Very inspirational

  • R.I.P Randy Pausch.

  • @Metaemipricus

    How did he do so?

  • I first saw this lecture on Oprah and shared it with a friend that had been going through the same thing. She past away the same year and I was diagonised a year later. I had surgery the "Whipple procedure" along with chemo and a year later OK so far. I was so inspired by Randy's lecture and couldn't possibly understand what his wife was going through knowing that he was going to die and she would be raising their kids on her own. My heart goes out to her and god bless. Thanks.

  • can't stand watching it

    it's really sad...

  • I remember watching Randy's Last Lecture. It has since inspired me and I find myself modeling certain parts of my life off of his words. I wish the best for his wife and kids. May Randy's soul rest in peace.

  • I was very moved by this book. I read it in one day, but took many things from it. Since I have read this book, I have told many of my friends to just pick it up and reading it. I told my shrink and he told me that he was going to pick it up and read it.

I hope that you have a chance to read it, because from personal experience, this book has changed my life!!

  • He looks like a person that looks after his diet? ... and still he got the cancer.

What a person must do to prevent predisposition to cancer? How and what to monitor? How much it would cost?

  • @gespilk If you are predisposed to cancer that means it's genetic and therefore there isn't much you can do to prevent it. If pancreatic cancer runs in your family you can ask your doctor to screen you regularly but that is pricey and doctors tend to not want to test without symptoms.

Regular blood work (a CBC) can run 500 or so but it's not a bad idea to get that from time to time.

I suppose for all of us, eat healthy, exercise and hope for longevity. :)

  • So very genuine. As we all go through our own personal challenges and fall into depression, we should stop ourselves and remember to say to ourselves that it is "not helpful" as she clearly states in the video. Very inspirational and heart wrenching.

  • goose bump! ...very brave man and helpful that even now that he is in the other world ,he still continue to inspire us...

  • this man is truely amazing..it is such a shame that he is gone..i hope that his children will fully understand just how great randy even still is,even though he is no longer here

  • I'm goin' straight to hell if this guy doesn't make it into Heaven.

  • amen...

  • you could not be a bigger idiot. not possible. just not possible to be more worthless than you, crystalsky84, just not possible.

  • crystalsky84, I hope you die in a fucking housefire and I sincerely mean that.

people like you are the reason religion is looked down upon so heavily. the biggest problem the catholic church has is people like you touting your own self-righteous beliefs. Especially bringing up something like that about such a great man who lived about as close as humanly possible to the image of Jesus, yet just because he hung out under a different roof every sunday, he's shunned? wow..

  • (cont..)

Not to turn this into a religion debate but what about all of the scum under the catholic church, probably people you look up to, who have been proven of molesting children and as punishment, sent to another church, to resume what they once started? where exactly will they be going?

It takes a lot for me to look up to someone, or to actually be touched by someone who I believe is truly inspirational. Randy is definitely on my short list. I truly regret not learning of him sooner

  • @crystalsky1221:

i agree with you. it's horrible, but it's the truth. doesn't destroy my deep respect for him, though. absolutely amazing

  • @ Crystalsky84...You are nothing other than a heartless hypocrite..Do us a favor and stfu.

  • Hun, if you really want to try and bring people to Jesus. try not insulting them and getting angry with them. You aren't doing any good. You are donig more harm to the christian name

  • @crystalsky84 Not helpful.

  • @crystalsky84 it's gods (or St. Peters) job to decide who goes to heaven or not, not yours. It says "Thou shalt not judge" and that's what you're doing. That's a sin. That man helped a hell of a lot of people, educated thousands, and in posterity millions more, what are you doing? You're spreading negativity and hate on youtube.

  • bravo

  • wow this is really inspiring!!! I can't say enough!!

  • I have watched his masterpiece " The last lecture", but it is not the last lecture. He is still alive in our hearts. Thanks Randy, you are inspiring us in this world of evils!

  • The most inspirational man I've ever seen.... THANK YOU RANDY OUR WORK TOGETHER HAS JUST BEGUN!

  • This is a very positive spin on our life and what we can do with them; whether we are dying or not. We are all capable of great things. The measure of great is relative to our time and place.

  • simply alive. there are by far many people in this world who are healthy and breath air, but dead. This guy was insightful about life. May God bless his family. I am privileged to have known you. Thanks.

  • Did you really know Randy Pausch? Wow your so lucky!

  • Bri4den,

How ae you now? I will pray for you. God bless. I am healthy and lucky and now feel deeply how lucky I am thanks to The Last Lecture. God bless you.

  • This is one of the greatest interviews I have ever seen. He inspired millions by his Last Lecture and by his lecture on Time Management. I saw the latter one first, and found it to be the best time management courses I have ever taken anywhere. But his last lecture and the interviews he gave for promoting cancer research were awesome. I have seldom known such an assertive, yet humble person, whose speech touches every aspect of one's life--from family values, to academic achievement. RIP, Randy!

  • My dad died at 47 of stomach cancer a few months before Randy died. Me and my mom saw the co author speak at my college. We got to talk with him about Mr Pausch.

That coupled with the book were really nice to have experienced.

  • This guy is so inspirational.. had me in tears...

  • I learned a lot from a little nephew who at 16 months was diagnosed with leukemia and at 28 months diagnosed with autism.

When the six foot cord to the broken chest for a shunt to your heart is removed and you run with a package of poison attached to the back of your shirt you run to live.

  • Where did he get his strength, wisdom and compassion? I lost my 10 year old daughter to a brain tumor and I can barely function with the grief that feels so overwelming . I will read his book and watch the lectures that are on the net and hope that I can come back from the other side of this living hell. Thank you Randy, for being the extraordinary man that you were for your family and yourself.

  • wherever you are in this world, I will pray to God tonight for you to overcome such a loss. Regards from argentina!

  • @bri4den I hope you get all the patience. I know it is easy to say, but I wish all the good for you and the spirit of your daughter.

  • @bri4den I would like to think he got it from God him-self. He is the only soarce of extraordinary strength that I know. "Stash"

  • @bri4den

I am so incredibly sorry about your daughter. How are you doing?

  • @bri4den god bless you and gave you power to be good in your life

  • this is so sad :(

he was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. he did not deserve such a sudden ending.

    rest in peace

  • LECCION DEVIDA IMPRESIONADA

  • We cant see God...but there is a God

  • "there is a God " .. I am so tired of hearing that, you have no idea..

  • He was such a lovely man... so full of wisdom, good mood and care for his family. You rarely meet people like him nowadays. With such a spirit! What a good pattern to follow he is. Well... You must be an angel now, Professor Pausch!

  • Randy Pausch rulz

  • What an amazing man Randy was. I read his book, The Last Lecture, and felt so inspired by what he wrote. This really touches my heart. It's terrible that he died.

    Rest In Peace, Randy Pausch.

  • That part about no Hollywood actress being able to act as his wife was pretty cute :)

  • What an inspiration. May he rest in peace.

  • i will miss your voice, your smile, your lesson that you give me when i needed it most. my love to your wife and kids, i pry for you them when ever i see a teddy bear, rest in peace my teacher.

  • He was an inspiration!

  • For me he still IS an inspiration.

  • There is a book and movie about THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN and Randy I want you to be one of my five.

  • OH MY GAWD! Just under $45,000 has been raised in Professor Randy Pausch's name for Pancreatic Cancer research!! LET'S KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING! You go to firstgiving daht calm forward slash randypausch and you can join the wave of inspiration. Let's do something PHENOMENAL for this man's legacy and really make an impact in researching this insipid disease!

  • I want to be that kind of parent for my son.

  • R.I.P Randy Pausch. Also, Diane Sawyer is fierce.

  • And for him not seeing them grow up.

  • I feel for his kids :(

  • Amazing man, His loss is our gain. Life changing story.

  • everyone should buy this great man's book to support his kids.

  • What the name of the book? Do you know?

  • The Book is called The Last Lecture.

  • If you want to give to the pancreatic action network - where he has a fundraising page set up (for research, all of it) you can go to firstgiving dot calm forward slash randypausch

I hope to see that fund grow and grow in honor of this man's memory and in hopes of helping others who don't even know they have pancreatic cancer yet!

  • This was one of the best of the videos about Randy.

  • What?? they couldn't upload the whole video on this program??? what, Youtube doesn't let??? or the TV network doesn't let??? its broken in so many patrts?? I'm mad---(well not too mad, just like Randy coached us :-) right? ) cheers!!

  • His attitude and philosphy of life is truley insiprational. To go thru what this great man has gone thru with deadly disease is amazing. People should learn for this

  • He said "No hollywood actress is pretty enough to play my WIFE"

  • Oh I see, hmm..., very corny indeed but good intentions, and faulted intentions I guess, as I'm pretty sure he wants to spread his idea(s), but, how..? Um, a movie... maybe? could help "a little" to his goal, but oh well, is not possible as there's no acctress pretty enough to play his wife. :\

  • Have you been in love recently..or ever? I hope so! Corny is fine. And look, I don't think there were any hidden motives there...he didn't seem to waste time much..and I think he'd probably be the first to say a movie is not the perk some others think it is...so I think he was saying something sweet to his wife..that's all. Have a good evening...and life.

  • What did he say?? "No hollywood actor is _____ to play my life" or something like that, I couldn't understand him very well even if I rewind, he says it very quickly and english is not my main language.

  • pretty enough

  • His life would make for a great movie, he did a lot of things

  • i'm pretty sure they r

    i heard it on oprah

    it was kinda funny

cuz he said that he didnt want

they 2 make a moive cuz

    they wouldnt find an actress

pretty enough 2 play his wife

  • Good to know that you want to be entertained by his life. Disgusting.

  • I think that Daniel Day Lewis or possibly Hank Azaria could play him in a movie about his life. I see a resemblance in those actors also I think Cynthia Nixon could play his wife. She bares a resemblance to her. All are great actors too.

  • We don't need Hollywood fucking with his story.

    His videos speak for themselves.

  • if someone was going to make a movie about his life,, he looks a little bit like jim carrey..

  • jim carrey is a horrible actor. he needs to just disappear.

  • So his best piece of advice is to always tell the truth, yet his favourite philosophical line is a response in a newspaper to a girl telling her that Santa Claus does exist? Hmm...

  • Thats the SECOND TIME YOU HAVE SAID THAT...!your not cool...this guy died, have some sympathy and heart for him and his family...for me looking at your USELESS comment you seem self centered. Next time you want to comment on something and think your really cool...THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY!

  • I am Talking to you rickshawride2dolla...

  • So..my best advice to you...don't get too close to caring people, it might rub off on you.

  • Uh huh.

  • Actually, didn't he said that even if there's no proof that XX thing exists or doesn't exist?, so logically, there's a posibility it might exist, according to his reasoning.

  • Rest In Peace, you've made an impact and influenced many people...thank you.

  • It didn't matter how we all heard about Randy Pausch, and it doesn't matter what his intent was. The things that matter are what we did about it when we heard the message and how our lives have been impacted. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and colleagues at this time. I know he made a difference to my life...

  • If he wasn't sick, and didn't die, not as many people would have gotten his message.

  • I don't agree..he was a college professor..they were getting his message all along.

  • Mostly students and colleagues would have had a chance to enjoy his inspirational messages mixed in with course curricula. Yes wintertyme "they" were getting his message, but we wouldn't have if he stayed healthy, unless we took his courses. So, "If he wasn't sick, and didn't die, not as many people would have gotten his message."

  • Wow, what constipated thinking. And I do not mean to imply you're not intelligent, but who cares if he was dying? His death was just a few sentences in the remarkable story of his life. It wasn't how he died, but how he lived.

  • Okay - he said that the lecture was for his kids - were they at the lecture? No, too young. Was it for them when they get older, after his death? Yes. Did we get the benefit of sharing this message? Certainly. If he wasn't dying, what reason would he have had to do this lecture? What reason would ABC have had to feature his story? How many people would know about him?

  • Why did he have to go.. he was such a good person.. Today is a sad day.

  • amazing man! great attitude.

  • Rest In Peace Dr Pausch...your words and your life are a testimony to the dream that we can never stop living our lives to the fullest. The world is proud of you and I wish your wife and kids all the best.

  • What a great guy.

    What a great loss.

  • WHAT A SPIRIT HE HAD... I actually better get myself looked at... :(

  • The Good Die young.

  • So special, so heartbreakingly sad :(

  • RIP Randy...Thank You....

  • R.I.P. Randy - so sad to hear of your passing. Your impact leaves a lasting impression. Thank you for showing such strength and optimism. You have changed my life and so many lives. I'm a tigger...thanks to you.

  • Probably one of the greatest people ever...

  • Thank you, Randy and Jay Pausch. I feel awful for your loss but very, very grateful and somewhat humbled by your manner of dealing with this - such an astonishing gift of love. Thank you for giving all of our children such a gift of learning how to live life well. May your children flourish, and thank you for giving us something so wonderful to share with ours. God bless you.

  • you cant see the wind , but that doesnt say its not there, we know its there.

  • God bless him...
