Also i realise Gaza citizens will suffer greatly from having no fuel, but you have to understand how much Israel suffers under the constant rocket attacks launched from Gaza.

If you want fuel you need to stop these people firing rockets into Israel,accept israel's right to exist, and come to the table to negotiate the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Something you should have done in 1948.

Also with the fuel going into Gaza , the problem is that the fuel is used to make and launch rockets,if there was an authority in Gaza which would activly prevent such fuel being used in the manufacture of these rockets then perhaps such measures would not be needed.

As far as i see it I don't see Israel having much of an option.

Hamas is included in the negotiations if they renounce the violence against Israel and accept it's right to exist.

Neither of which Hamas is willing to do.

You cannot have peace if one side doesn't desire peaceful settlement of the problem.

roman: there's a lot less anyone can do for populations oppressed by their own governments. of course what attracts continued attention is the fact that Israel is an occupier, and in particular Israel continues to oppress gaza.

Isn't that the UN's job, since it passed the universal declaration of human rights, isn't it supposed to promote them? If you don't think they can do anything about govts. that opress their own people, consider China, which opresses and occupies Taiwan or even Turkey and Iraq which opress and occupy Kurdistan. I don't see the UN doing anything about that....

I do agree that some of America's allies are not of the most moral standards (such as the Saudi royal family, etc) but this isn't relating to the topic at hand, which is the United Nations and what I percieve is hypocrisy.

Like it, or not, Hamas IS the voice of the people; marginalise and down-trod a population for forty years, and they WILL become radicalised and violent. If israel, and the west in general, respected the human rights of the palestinians, the power of violent groups would wane, and, eventually, all but disappear.
