@NeuroParadise Hello, tune into 145.825 MHz, using your packet radio program and have a sat tracker with recent keps (keplerian elements), so that you know when they are going overhead at your location. Have a read at the ISS Fan Club to see if the crew are active or not or to see if the packet radio system is operational. Good luck.
Hello, I didn't use a TNC, I plugged the radio straight into the PC sound card and use software called AGW packet engine and UISS. Look for them and if you need further help, please email me.
Hi OH8XAT, let this be encouragement for you. I use a 5 watt hand held running through a power doubler, so 10 watts out, into an omnidirectional 1/4 wave on a mag mount.

a friend gave me alinco dj-580T, which TNC should I use to form a packet radio? please guide me a little bit! just beginning to packet radio.

whats your rig, i expect the hardest part is to get the yagis aligned and keep them on target.
