Bracknell hold many 'firsts' for me in terms of life experience, my first poo wank arrest and my inevitable decline into spewing my man-porridge into a train toilet sink on my way to 'Staines' in the mid 1980s, trips to Waterloo via train, fun summers...drugs as we danced, cassette tapes and computers, girls you loved, learning how to cope...It's what we made it, then i woke up and moved on, but it's enchantment will always reside in the minds of those who started their lives there, thanks.
I live in ascot but i have to go to school in bracknell :( its full of chavey fat kids with mums sitting a home and claiming benefits for nothin at all. All the kids pick fights at school thinkin theyre hard then get the crap kicked out if them no jokes there were 3 fights at lunch time at my school.
i live in bracknell and its realy not that bad, the crime rate is one of lowest in the country. The schools are good well most of them, also theres the look out which is realy good, coral reef, bracknell leisure center, and its beautiful in summer.
Bracknell is a rough town that's been left to rot for years. Council estates, a shit town centre (possibly the worst in the UK, I know I've travelled a lot for work!), some scummy people (not everyone that lives on a council estate is scummy like the rich toffs from Wokingham/Windsor like to think) and I hope to move out before I'm 30 but Bracknell will always be my true home!
Once your frontal lobe kicks in at 25 you really have to leave, if your still stuck in the soulless under-passed clone-store future city of yesteryear then i feel for you, the rise of the poorly-educated underclass (chav) coupled with the banal feel and mediocrity of the town would probably just create more mewling cabbages in baseball caps pissing & wanking into the towns lifts and generally keeping the crime statistics up every year, follow the leader for your next fix, you can't fix stupid.
yeah bracknell is so shit,,the chaves r everywere, cheep foul mouthed, jobless,on drugs, and little chave girls...hair pulled back in ponytails big round ear rings, pushing a few prams around SOON THE CHAVES WILL TAKE OVER, unless we run them down like lemmings a squash them one buy one.
LOL - I work in Bracknell - this made me laugh big time. Oh dear.. Point Royal... Bracknell featured in the movie The Offence with Sean Connery. I think Point Royal was where he lived in the film.
@peaceintheworld2007 During the 10 delightful years I spent living in the cesspit pit that is Bracknell, two people jumped off of Point Royal - my guess its gone down hill since Sean Connerys visit
@peaceintheworld2007 - Some things never change, I went to school in Crowthorne, the kids that either couldnt fit in Bracknell Schools or were expelled from them went to Edgbarrow and much the same happened there...
lol yes bracknell shit if u dont have any money and a doll light and live in a council place but if u have a job and a life it not such a shit hole ;)
Lived there from '62 -'79. This brilliant little film, with Pearl&Dean intro, brings it all back - also reminds me of the Peter Sellars sketch, 'Balham - Gateway To The South'. We spent most of our time playing in the Crown Estate which is now all houses. Also remember Kevin Keagan falling off his bike at the sports centre during Superstars - Brakenhale's just up the top from there. Great stuff. Glad I ain't there now, though.
Roundabouts are no problem for me as I drive a classic Mini Cooper. Anyway sorry for not mentioning Wildridings, but I'm not local and so I really don't know anything about it?
The 2nd was the 1972 harrowing and violent film called 'The Offence' starring Sean Connery who played a tough cop who ended up killing a bloke in custody who he believed was a paedophile. This film is available on DVD and again 'Connery' lived in 'Point Royal' with his wife. Although in the 1972 film, Bracknell looks very bleak and rain washed.
Not forgetting a 1971 flm called "The Villan" starring Richard Burton, parts of this film were filmed around the Southern Industrial area with Point Royal clearly visable in the background. A clip of this fllm in Bracknell can be found on Youtube.,
I haven't seen that film (Villain) for some time, so I'll have to try and get a copy now. Thank god 'Point Royal' is a grade II listed building as it would be a real shame to loose it since it's appeared in so many classic British films over the years. Shame the listing couldn't have been applied to and therefore saved that massive concrete car-park in 'Get Carter' (1971).
What films were shot in Bracknell then? I know of "The Offence" in 1971 that feaures a very early "new" Bracknell Town Centre. "The Villian" from 1970 that features the Southern Industrial area and Peacock farm. I haven't seen "I start counting" but what others are there? I do know that the comedy "The Kit Curran Radio Show" from 1984 was set in Bracknell as the opening titles featured Bracknell locations.
'The Offence" (co-starring Ian Bannan) is one of Connery's best performances. I'd forgotten about 'The Villain', my Grandad watched them shooting some of that on the Southern Industrial Estate when I used to live there.
I believe this Town and the 'Point Royal' high-rise block of flats in particular was used in a few classic British films over the years. The 1st wast the 1969 chilling movie 'I Start Counting' which starred a very young Jenny Agutter who played a schoolgirl that lived in 'Point Royal'. Not an easy film to find at the moment though because it's never been commercially released. But it can be tracked down via movie collectors on the 'Internet Movie Database'.
whats more every thing in bracknell is disposable im 42 and i have lived here all my life in that time ive seen a cemetery turned in to a block of flats (mt plesant) the running horse jump over the rounderbout when a office block becomes unoccupied just knock it down and rebuild it the council cut down 300 year old oak trees because a councillors friends garden needs more light and they dont like the leaves in fall
Completely agree with you mate. I live in Bracknell now, and all though im not a cumdrinker (!), I do agree. I hate this place more than anything. Im going to Oz soon, so hopefully that natural disaster will occur then?
...bracknell has just been left to rot... it has no culture no soul, a 10 screen cinema and a bowling ally...nor freaking ski-slope (great idea counselors) isn't gonna save it from one of the all time wanky places to live in England, no wonder people there develop weird psychological disorders and sexual kinks... Mill Pond summer 84 spliff a cup full of tit and I'm a man! - huzzah!, long live Bracknell
Yeah i agree but they are due to put a few hundred million into it, hey listen if you think Bracknells bad try and live in Slough thats where i was born and raised hey Fuck that. id much rather live here
Ha Ha i think this is simply brilliant!!!! As if you dont live here you will not understand how crap this place is now!!! Its like walking through an advert for phones for you but real life!! chavs?? Oh but JJB sport is closed so they go and buy there stuff at Chav world at the peel centre! ha ha i want to make a movie with the person!!!!!!!!!
How things have moved on !!! shame the town centre is the only thing that remains 20 years behind the rest of the town. Can I make a suggestion that some-one updates this movie and the town centre.Bracknell might be where things happen and where you would want to live.
Hey, I used to work there, your leucky if you get a pair of skates coz the male assistants ogle the female assistants, its dirty, crummy and old, my mate broke his leg on the luge run because staff werent doing thier job, still John Nike had to give him several grand in comp.
hay i respect how mumble you are .most people are like bracknell is the best and Reading is shit .Reading deffo not the best town out there but its still good
It is tounge in cheek in so much that it is a terrible town and should leveled, Great Hollands, a sign used to read as you entered it years ago, under Great Hollands read in marker pen - Beruit (or similiar)
what does Beruit mean, and Great Hollands is where a killer lives, he was amurderer, i live in binfield. No where near Great Hollands i think but still in bracknell
Im only ** years old and i lived ther for half of my life and i have got to say maybe the best part of my life but i suppose grimsby where i am livng now is good just maybe grimsby will be better then bracknell to me who knows but really good film better if updated :P

lol A brilliant movie. Well i quite like Bracknell, its way better than some towns. Cause everything here is right on your doorstep you have london just under an hour away, you can get to Reading in 20 minutes, theres a big cinema, bowling ally, the school are doing okay around here, decent sized supermarkets and the shopping centre isnt to bad and if you really hate Bracknell that much, its ok the whole Town Centre is going to be knocked down and rebuilt soon - so you dont need to worry!!!
@playgirlkaty what's funny about this comment is that you posted that 3 years ago, and there is not yet any work being done on that shopping centre they've been going on about for the past hundred years XD Too bad the recession hit when it did, they were so close to getting started
I used to live there till i realized it was and always will be a soulless underpassed 10-screen/mall/complexed/bowling violent sterile fcuked up town which takes the B out of banal and makes basingstoke look like las vegas!
I love these things and this is a great spoof. I love the pulling out with the camera over photos. I love the music and I love the footage of the motorway with all those late 70s motors. But please, please, please check your spelling. Sorry to be a pedant but 'Heavey Engineering'? All it takes is a quick check. You've gone to the trouble to make the film.
