  • I'm enjoying your videos. I have a '79 type 2 vert and I know the heater channels are rusted. I'll have to check the cables. I guess I don't understand the order in which to restore the bug. Can you advise? Besides the break lines and breaks, what's next?

  • Did they use asbestos in these old beetles? Because I heard old cars use asbestos in the brakes etc so I was wondering if they used it in the heating system? That would be pretty worrying if asbestos was blowing in your face. Any thoughts on this?

  • This video was awesome. I think we can hook up the levers that control the heat using this.....however, like BlueBeetle1969, we would like to see how to hook up the controls on the dashboard, and the vents that are at the bottom, under the door.

  • Hello,maybe you can help me on this one. I´m getting exaust fumes inside the car.I guess it could be the fitting between the muffler and the heat exchangers.My questin is?how much does it matter to have all the sheet metal of the heat exchangers really tight to the pipe thats inside,I mean a small gap could be the reason of exaust fumes coming in?And last but not least please tell me if its possible to take out the heat exchangers from the car without removing the engine,?Thanks.

  • @qwertrewq9879878712 are your heat vents open? or always on? If they are closed then you probably have fumes coming from the front of the car, which usually means the hoses are wet, porous, not clamped etc. to take the heat boxes off, it is easier to take the motor out.

  • Awesome tips!! I have to run new cables in my 75 before it starts getting cold. Also remerber to check that nothing is clogging or blocking the fan in the fan shroud. I had a rag in mine last winter and it caused the engine to overheat and I had little to no heat blowing out.

  • i drive it everyday to work. have never used the heat before though. just bought it this summer. living in florida, heat is not a problem, but in the winter it can get chilly so i'll be using it then. the car sat for twenty years before i bought it. a true barn find.

  • great video, as always. i turned my heat on the other day in my 67 and it got real hot real quick.  the only thing was that it smelled a little funny in the cabin. any danger of there being a problem that could lead to asphyxiation or something? i dont want to pass out while driving with the windows up b/c of exhaust or something bleeding into the heating system, i know that the heat is coming from the engine/exhaust...

  • @mrprufrock101  yeah it is one of those things where you have to let some of that stuff burn out. When was the last time you run the car?

  • @BernDPeter A Screw?? You mean the big bolts under the floors? They are for seat belts.

  • Hi Chris, I really appreciate your videos and have seen them all and learned a lot from them, but feel I have to add one comment to this one.

    Despite solid heat channels, the tube inside could be rusty and the hot air will then disappear into the channels.
