they are not glass. The blades are plastic and they would hold up in a 'battle' the only downside is the glass bulbs inside the blade - once they break you start getting black spots in the blade so it doesn't look as good.

@Doyleee6754 The blade is a polycarbonite blend, you can run them over in your car.I own several, there is no glass, the inside has a fiber optic film that helps reflect the light evenly up the blade. I highly suggest buying 2, they are tons of fun and you will want to fight with a friend.(and they are dueling sabers thats what they are for.)

Remember these are collector sabers, but If you want to really go hard with them its best you get yourself a converted saber from the likes of ultrasabers. com - they convert the sabers so that they can sustain heavy duelling whilst retaining the original look.

5 of my friends all have ultra sabers and we hit really hard....and they are amazing! just wrap the battery pac in paper towel or they will crack

i have 1 and they can take a real beating with nothing but a couple of marks (not noticable when blade is active) they're great fun and i advise you to get 1. if you get a red 1 don't use it in daylight.(it turns pink!) they look a hell of alot better in ure hands than on a screen and they are incredible at night. i think its made of polycarbonite so it's pretty tough.
