1. No, many in the Social Register and have attended Choate or Exeter have middle class incomes, but are considered upper-class because of their early background and pedigree.
2. No, many who summer at Sag Harbor are Preppy and African-American. Also, a Posh Paulie back in the 80's who was black was initiated into the Porcellian, but being a pork transcends even Prepdom, but one usually needs the prep credential first.
3. "Working man" is a euphemism for blue collar...
(cont.) even though museum curators, executives, lawyers, professors, doctors, etc., work.
"Prep" includes what a person learns at Choate, the St.Grottlesex schools, Exeter, Andover, etc. The most copied aspect is the fashion sense, in which case a person should consider Brooks Brothers, Paul Stuart, the Andover Shop, Cape Madras, L.L. Bean, Castaway Clothing, Lilly, and Murray's Toggery.
As for decorative tastes go with a nautical theme, and don't technically "decorate" per se.
Buble is the only 1 i really agree w/ but i think u should've had Holy F*ck, White Tie Affair, Priscilla Renea, and Spoon as well. not 2 mention breathe carolina :)
coldplay is not preppy they are indie. most of these weren't that preppy. you should have put bands/artists like hilary duff. brittany spears. miley cyrus
@EyeOfTheNinja123 hhmmm. Hilary Duff - disney pop Brittany Spears - trashy (complete opposite of preppy) miley cyrus - close, but still southern pop. Preppy bands are like vampire weekend, john mayer, jack johnson, etc.
Block Parties a good band, it's too trendy and scene to be preppy. The Summer Obsession sounds a bit too Emo, I'll give you Dave Matthews, however you forgot about Sixpence None the Richer, Counting Crow's I think might count, it's subjective anyway. I bet this music comes from a Hollister or Abercrombie playlist (Abercrombie is so loud and obnoxious) and those clothes have their tacky labels plastered everywhere.
I'm not what you would call "Preppy" (I'm left handed so I wouldn't be great at Polo) however while some of these bands are good however MGMT is too bassy and clubbish. Kanye West is rap (all rap is working class and blue collar. It's not established enough to merit the "Preppy" label, and has very a very un-preppy background) and engages in tres declasse antics such as rudely interrupting Taylor Swift (plus it's like get your loud, gauche ghetto attitude out of my face). Bloc Party's scene...
