You did make it look easy though. Squats are a great exercise because it incorporates so many parts of the body and a main reason is because you have to stabilize with other muscles. The Smith Machine as well as other machines eliminate the need to stabilize and allow you to simply push or pull.
get off the smith, put the weight at 205 evern 185.and go deep, you willbenefeit 100x's more with that.. also, the bar pad is more harm than anything, it will cause the bar to move, the bare bar isn't that bad.
AT 156 lb BW that is a good amount of weight, but I will have to agree with most of the post, you need to get out of the Smith machine and into a real rack, lose the "p" pad, and go down further to engage more of the quads and hamstrings as well.
A bit too much weight? Way too much weight. Your legs are clearly not developed enough for you to be squatting 315. At 156 pounds, you need to be eating alot more if you ever hope of properly squatting even 225 (which I bet you can't)
Go on a proper squat rack, lower the weight, and put a shirt on fuck sakes, I can see your ribs
First of all, you need to go a lot deeper for it to be considered a squat. You weren't even going to parallel. Right now you are doing quarter squats at best. Also, the cable assistance makes the bar weigh a lot less (15 lbs). So in total, six 45's in the Smith Machine actually only weighs 285.
For future squats, do it in a power rack and not in the Smith Machine and go to at least parallel with the final goal being below parallel. That is an actual squat.
This is weak, most can do this your method. and yes, PADS are for GIRLS son, when its that time of the month, take that thing off. Its also dangerous (if you were actually doing FREE WEIGHT) becuase it can 'roll'
AND to top it all off...
Too hard to tell, but if that is a cable run smith machine, you dont have 315 there either, its 285 (they have 30lbs counterweight).
You need to be doubling the depth on those. Pad is weak, biggest thing is depth. You will be weaker at first but will gain strength in squats on a weekly basis if you are getting into a fully squated position.
