  • She was tooooo beautiful at that time!!!!

  • This was my song back in the day. Whatever happened to her??

  • Ah, hell nah. No wonder I don't know who she is and prefer to keep it that way. This nearly 4 minutes of squealing, discordant flub was excruciatingly painful to listen to. Prince, my brotha', what the hell were U thinking!

  • @kaabbaaq1 I disagree but that's okay.

  • I know what is contagious and it sure as hell wasn't love. TMI?

  • Taja is just a beutiful woman, with a beutiful voice and a beutiful song.

  • I love that she is sans bra. It gives the video an organic feel and she looks like the type that would say "fuck a bra"

  • Its almost lovers rock, dead good tho

  • This song was on the radio when I lost my cherry to the girl I took to the homecoming dance. Still makes me horny to this day. Uh...yep. OK, gotta go now.

  • GREAT voice...the one thing I loved the most about this song was the beat...It seems offbeat...but it really isn't. Part of Prince's Genius @ work. She is beautful!! This song STILL would have been a hit without her going bra-less in the video. Shame she was a one hit Suzie...

    .What happened to Taja?

  • how i wish i can go back to the 80's

  • @jelochegle so do I !

  • What a voice ... love it ... great 80's memories!

  • she was so hot she could desolve diamonds

  • Comment removed

  • this brings back good memories

  • always loved this song...

  • she`ll be paying now for not wearing a bra then hahaha

  • Oh Lord this is terrible!!!!!

  • I remember her hot gig boobs

  • I hear this on the radio late at night sometimes so I decided to look it up. I've loved it for years but always wondered what the singer looked like. She was pretty hot.

  • @VampireMadonna Prince was banging her. She was on of his protege hoes.

  • @MaxMikeLatino - No, he wasn't. She was a Benny Medina signing, 2 start with. He wrote "A" song 4 her....and that was the extent of the relationship.

  • @DJPsychoDTM Benny Medina is a homo, he would have never banged her.

  • @MaxMikeLatino - yeah, but Benny got her the deal. If U pay attention 2 all of the signings that were going on at the time (Good Question, Taja, Tony LeMans, Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons, The Three O'Clock) were artists that were signed without a lot of his input (or none at all) by his management. This is largely the reason why Taja's 2nd album was put out on Reprise Records instead of PPR....

  • @MaxMikeLatino was just a sign of the times really, lol

  • Have you seen how expensive this cd is 2nd hand on ebay......they would make a killing if the re-issued it....Theres one on at the moment £32.99....

  • @nidgybaby ha ha you can get it with another 99 80's songs for £5.99 from Play.com.......I'm gonna get it! x

  • on of the first 80's hits that I fell in damn love with.

  • I found a cd I made years ago, and this song was on it. I still love this song it reflects good times in my life.

  • 1st woman I was ever totally and utterly in love with!!..... STILL AM!!

  • @Punnarniman yep

  • @Bluedove3, yep, that's Jimmy from most of the Rhythm Nation videos.

  • I bought this when I was 16 and have to say no more...

  • thats my cousin!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • Taja Sevelle went on to found revolutionary hunger-fighting NGO — Detroit-based Urban Farming She put out the albums Fountains Free (1991) and Toys of Vanity (1997) and wrote songs with Burt Bacharach, Prince and Nile Rodgers... cool lady

  • Still love this song from the first time I heard it back in the eighties stationed out in San Diego.

  • The dancer? Please tell me thats not the same little guy in Rhythm Nation video? Man, that dude seemed like he was in every video back in the day:) H e was good though.

  • Before Corinne Bailey Rae there was Taja Sevelle !!!!!!! Corinne sounds just like her !!!!! I loved this song !!!!!

  • I love this song but, what is the name of the dancer?!? I swear that guy was in every other video back in the day! Paula, Janet, "Coming to America"... Who is he?

  • beautiful song too bad she's been label a one hit wonder.

  • Hi everyone, I need help finding a song with lyrics like " Love is contagious we all stand a chance... " I heard this song at AppleBees and I am having a hard time finding the rest of the lyrics. When I heard this song I thought the title was "Love is Contagious" because that was what it sounded like. The artist singing the song sounded like a white female and the music sounded Spanish. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me identify the song and artist. Thanks.

  • true classic and yes truly underated!!

  • I LOVE TAJA SEVILLE'S SONGS SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE POPULAR THAN SHE WAS

  • After 20 years (apart from Martika) no Female pop vocalist has even got to the chill factor of what Taja is doing on this song.

A pure modern pop classic of the 20th century.

  • Love it, true classic for me !

  • she is doing great things for her community planting gardens and things i luved this song back int dizzz-ayy.lol

  • Saw her being interviewed on BET once, she was wearing a blue leather skirt and jacket, or something like that, and leather gloves, and she looked so smok'n hot the interviewer couldn't maintain, know what I'm say'n? She knew how to accentuate her looks, she liked suspenders or something like that. What a stone cold fox. M'ya, love is contagious, well this debuted in 87? What was the big issue then? M'hmm, AIDS. They don't play a lot of songs anymore.

  • Love this song. my favby Her.

  • If a 'bigger' artist had written this, it would've been a generally considered classic, they don't even show this on the classic video programmes or play it on old radio stations, god knows why. Amazing song.

  • @mannersj I'm thinkin Sade would have sounded good singing this song also now that u said that

  • @VideoMaster3000 i think sade would have mellowed it too much.....i see what you mean though

  • this song came out in my freshman year of high school..........ahhh, such memories

  • i love this song!

and i agree it is severely underrated!

it needs to be played on the radio more!

  • @XDarlingNikki1999X

ok......I wasn't sure. It just fits into his sort of writing. I'm a huge Prince fan.....it's a nice song whoever wrote it. cheers

  • such a beautiful track

  • Dam I miss the old BET they use to play this all the time. Now they just play bullshit. goodthing we have vh1soul

    Michelle Stanley

  • I saw her on a Montel Willims interview here on Youtube. She doesn't sing anymore. I think she works for charity or some form of commuity service that's really doing alot for people in need.

  • Reminds me of being 18 and feeling immortal.

  • bless i feel young again

  • good song for those in love?

  • Written by Prince.....awesome. He is so good for the women

  • Prince didn't write this. Sevelle wrote this herself. The only song he wrote for her was a song called "Wouldn't You Like To Love Me", which also was released as a single from the same album as this.

  • she wrote the song herself...... this was just on his Paisley Park Label....

  • I bought this single in 1988 and it's still great. One hit wonder-why?

  • i was such a fan i named my daughter taja and the name fits perfect because not only is she pretty she is a very caring person. Thanx for being a good role model. sign one of your fan forever!

  • dean is gay

  • Another Prince protege, no? Loved this song back in the day and still do today. Thanks for posting.

  • Yeah, but very briefly. Prince took her under his wing at the very beginning of her career, but he had very little involvement with the music, other than 1 song he gave that he was going to give to the very first protegee he wanted to shepherd in 1979. She wrote this song herself & judging from how poorly it did both on the pop & R&B charts in America, which tended to be typical of Prince's protégées on the Paisley Park Records label, she jumped ship from Prince very quickly after her debut LP

  • nice vest potatoes!
