  • Wow, Amazing! Many thanks.

  • that guy could win the friggin president election with his guitar

  • that's what i call professionalism

  • Makes me realize how far I CAN"T go.....

  • I think that 6 people hit the wrong tum.....i forgive them for this mistake.

  • Well here you can see what one can do with spanish guitar techniques: At 1:50 you can see a so called "quartillo" :) I hope my eyes are not kidding me ;)

  • Execution...perfect!

  • Wow! That was really good. Makes you realise how far there is to go.

  • greit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is he suppoed to be in a cave?

  • great guitarist!!!!! amazing talent!!

  • Klasse !

  • what a fantastic arrangement and played beautifully.. hats off..

  • @kencerned 100% u r right hats off ignorants.

  • nice

  • It's a fantastic arrangement! I learn this now and although it's not hard to learn, it's very hard to polish like doing the percussion or having the accents in the right place. I wish I could write such an awesome arrangement..

  • Awe some!

  • holy shit!! I freak'n love it!!!!

  • @Yamiye No, I don't supply taps in the california dreaming style. Although I do have TABS for this song california dreaming.

  • I' ve put a thingy inside my guitar, and all it does is PRRT. How come?

  • what for a guitar he´s playing there ?

  • huh?

  • Holy Hell!!! I won't be trying to play this version anytime soon. Well done!!!

  • way to represent Wichita Mike!!

  • Fantastic player..

  • true virtuoso

  • this is rare, brilliant playing. well done!

  • genius :)

  • Wow, beautiful arrangement! Really nice dynamics in the playing. Also, a great song :)

  • amazinggg ♥

  • b e a utiful

  • awesome...

  • thank you ;-)

  • amazing! I'm learning to play this arrangement of the song on a classical guitar but it was hard to find one without steel string. Very helpful!

  • btw i know it a steel string guitar it is just the same style body of a classical.

  • awesome!!!!!!

  • Depends on what you mean by a beginner. I feel it is easy to play something if playing only means remembering the notes & transferring it to an instrument. For me playing means being able to make the piece my own and being able to include the feeling that the piece deserves. Thanks

  • What a terrific transcription, and played by a master with the melody always balanced just out in front of the accompaniment, and those lovely connected lyrical lines. This is what separates a classical based expert is the technique to be able to accomplish that but then it takes an artist such as Michael to bring it all together in a superb rendering. Bravo Michael.

  • GREAT MICHAEL!!!

    AWESOME!!!

  • i wanna learn this just to play the high part... nasty

  • Beautiful song. Great play

  • WOW O_o!!my version of this song is so shitty :S

  • thats because this guy plays both the guitar, and the vocals sound in one!

  • wow this is soo amazing.. respect man..

  • bad man!!!!!!!!!!

  • its gonna take that kid gunga din or whatever about 2 hours to nail this.

  • and for the rest of us, your average lifetime

  • lol. yeah

  • Been working on it since the past six months or so and still not ready yet.

  • what you on about?

  • Where did you get the tabs?

  • I only have the partition which I got from his website.

  • Are you a beginner? This tab should take a week at most to master lol.

  • i like to play completely from ear, and change the style of it a bit.

and i completely agree with you.

  • So wot you are saying is this guy is crap, I agree its annoying having ppl who aren't that good trying to teach other how to play, but if you look at all the covers of this rendition none of them put the emotion or heart into it as Chapdelaine does.

  • Read the comments properly before you post please.

  • Answer the question please. don't fob us off with by patronising.

  • What about Sungha Jung?

  • yeah i have to agree, its because majority of people are not born with an ear for music, and most people have terrible timing.

  • damn that is AWESOME!

  • Fantastic! Wish I could play like that.

  • haha me too that was wonderful

  • Very nice.

  • ooops...sent that before I meant to....

so much for spelling, spacing and punctuation.

The interesting thing about what he does is it is not so technically tough as in a MArtin Taylor or Tuck walking bass line thing, but the way he gives each voice (bass, melody, accomp) it's own unique sound so it really sounds like you are listening to a few instruments, versus one trying to sound like a few instruments. And that is due to training, ear, finesse and dedication.

    Great stuff!

    Rob

  • It is called years of classical guitar training.

  • Yeah....years of classical training....but ther are MANY players with a lifetime of classical playing who do not delve into arranging pop tunes. MC is a very creative person who seems to know what he likes and is not afraid to stick to his guns.

Even if it means offending Segovia!

Edgar Crus is another top notch classical guitarist who comesup with some outrageous versions of Queen, Areosmith Led Zep...

WE are lucky to have these people doing thie thing!

    Rob

  • Yeah, Michael is one of the absolute players out there for sure. I caanot imagine the limits of his playing with all htose years of classical behind him.

I had the great pleasure of taking classes with him last month at Swan Gathering.

His arrangining class was by far the highlight of my week, and one of the best classes I have ever taken in 10 yrs at SG.

VEry smart and funny straight forward guy, with a great gift for explaining his mind set w/o going into note for note teaching style

  • He looks like David Carradine.

  • I'm a new fan now

  • EXQUISITE

  • JackLipnick i respect your opinion , but i think songs like this one must be played with the least modifications possible

  • Best live performance I have ever seen :D

    Great job Michael.

  • guitargirl526, I have ths scores for this song, PM me if you want it. Cheers

  • very tasteful playing. he covers it beautifully, but i wish he'd open it up a bit more and interpret it less literally.

  • I don't think the late, great Chet Atkins could have made a better arrangement - bravo!

  • excelent!! Brillant!!

  • wow!

    50000 stars!

  • how does he play that i've been looking at some videos on how to play it but i really dont get it.

  • It's not easy at all. A good piece that could open you up to this song is Classical Gas. Mastering that will get you basically half way through this song as far as the different tempos go

  • i just met him about a week ago and hes a really nice/funny man :D

he was at this guitar festival and hes probably one of the best ive ever heard

  • Midatlantic Guitar at Westfield?

  • yes :) midatlantic guitar at westfield

  • shweet. Yeah I was there too. I attended his career in guitar seminar as well. It's amazing what this guys been through, then I walked him to his car. =D Do you attend Westfield?

  • haha no i go to west potomac but its all good that school is really cool though a lot more cooler lookin than ours i believe =P

  • well it's the largest in the county or state or something, so it gets pretty good funding... But I swear I could care less about the looks. Some of the teachers really suck. Good guitar tho =D

  • tapette

  • => désolé, mauvais blague d'un de mes amis !

  • un vrai plaisir audio

  • yeahhh

  • So cool !!!!

  • Why is everyone always screaming about getting tabs? Watch his fingers, experiment, work it out. It's not rocket science. Getting to his level of expertise, that is the hard part and tabs aren't going to do that for you.

  • Its realy hard to get his finger technique in his Songs. Even if youre a pretty good guitar player its hard to check that. I still asked a lot of very good Tab makers to listen them out and all of them gave up. So, why dont you try it? For all the others: Check "Jawmunji" he also has covered this version and he has free Tabs for the song ;)

  • I already have, that's why you don't hear me screaming "gimme tabs". There is another consideration, that is HIS arrangement of this old classic. There is something to be said for your own addition of creative flair. If everyone played it the same, why would anyone listen? Eh?

  • I think every guitarist can decide how he plays a song. Completely covered or even with some additions or something "easier" playable. Thats why the guitar is such a good music instrument ;)

  • if you are so good help other people out and put up some tabs up for them , he is very good , studied classical guitar , help people !!!

  • Dan, it's not a matter of being "good" it's merely a matter of caring enough to try. I always figured I wasn't going to learn anything if I let someone else do all the work for me. Watching a performer like this; figure out what he's doing to get into the ballpark; and finally polishing it out to be YOUR adaptation. Try it - there is no feeling like it. It's a far better feeling of personal satisfaction than being spoon fed the tabs.

  • 1. Why do you care if people want to learn the song that way? 2.I now know this song because of Jawmunji's tab. 3. I read his tab but it still is my own adaptation of the song it doesnt sound like michaels or jaws' version a tab is just gonna help you get the LAYOUT of the song its too fast to pick up sometimes not everyone can do that so why dont you stop being ignorant. thank you =)

  • thanks a lot cholitoboi !!!! god bless

  • how can I get this tab ??????? please !!!!!

  • Hi, There is another vid with a link to tab file. that vid is california dreaming... sort of JAW

  • Watch him, you can do it.

  • you dont need tabs you need music theory. look at the scales hes using. you dont even know what tuning hes in. he would have to teach you himself before you might get remotely close. that is if you dont ubnderstand theory

  • one of the most innovative guitarists alive. thanks for the post. i'd like to see segovia's angry response to this one!

  • Great stuff

  • OMG, this was wonderful to see and hear. Passionate and fun... I guess that it why it is called "playing" the guitar! Thanks!

  • AMAZING.

  • your very good;)

  • very good

  • I love his style

  • He has a unique style to him MC, he adds new dimensions to fingerstyle. Thanks for putting this video up, it was good to see he hasn't changed the way he plays it much since the last video I saw :)

  • Thank you John for sharing this great video.

Actually, Chapdelaine is one of my very favourite:

he swings like hell, his repertoire is so diverse and and it is just a lot of fun to watch him play!

    He has the guitar spirit.

    Viva Michael!!!!

  • Your Welcome! We also filmed an outside shoot the day before, that was aired as part of this same show. After this last concert, today, we will have time to do some tweaking for a post in the very near future. It has been a real treat working with artists such as yourself and Michael. Viva la Guitarra!!!!
