  • Gee, I'd go to awesomevideos to buy the DVD set, but NOT WITH THEIR FUCKING LOGO OVER THE WHOLE DAMN VIDEO!!!

  • Marina is a fish, basically. To be served with chips.

  • She could speak...she just sounded like Cilla Black so she thought better not to !!!

  • Olivia Wilde would be perfect to play Marina if they ever make a live version of Stingray.

  • i felt so sorry for her she couldnt speak! i would cry my eyes out when the song came on!

  • I went to a concert a couple nights ago and I met one of the guitarists for one of the bands that played and when I told him my name was Marina he told me about this. Bless his soul <3

  • I was crazy about this show when I was a kid.

  • @Jade2620 That's so hip! Your daughter has a pretty name, a song to go with it and a fab TV show that inspired her mum.

  • Marina is reputed to have written the world's thinnest book, which was titled 'The Words and Speeches of Marina'... :-D

  • I love the song .. Since I was young love it good memerys:))))

  • wow what a song, takes me back to my childhood, thanks for posting this song :)

  • Was this a British or American TV show? I sure remember it (I am 56) and Fireball XL5, Diver Dan and Captain Kangaroo. Being in Canada, we got both US and UK TV programs, and a few of our own....

  • @tennis11ish It was a British show but made with the international market in mind.Gerry Anderson also made Fireball XL5,Thunderbirds and many more.

  • Love the U2 comment and Fireball XL5.

Look, i know i'm spoken for but my last thoughts every night are of Marina, her and the opening scenes of Bambi have shaped my life.

  • another of my favourites when I was a kid, and I remember the them to fireball xl5 too! lol...

  • I was watching this and I remembered how bad U2 are. What a terrible, terrible band.

  • I am back into the sixties. I was in love with Marina and still am if truth were told. Brings back fond memories.

  • Oh Dear, I used to fancy Marina back then! I was in my defence, 9, but still . however I can admit to anything here and no-body know's who I am............or do they!!!? hee hee

  • What did the chisel jawed Troy Tempest have that I didn't ? That's what I want to know!!

  • When I was younger, I wantedto be Marina - but then what little girl doesn't want to be a mermaid at some point in her life?

  • Official Petition to make another series of Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray & Thunderbirds.

  • wonderful days, great programs..

  • Marina always had way too many strings attached. Plus them tracy brothers always went hand over string to keep her silent.

  • she looks just like mischa barton to me :)

  • Atlanta looks a bit like Mariska Hargitay, doesn't she?

  • :|

  • Julie Newmar was the model for "Marina".

  • Interesting, most interesting. Marina looks more sexier than Ariel.

  • @taurid2003 I had a crush on Virgil Tracy. Nowadays it would be Troy Tempest.

  • @midmodgal

You as well? I fancied Virgil as well

  • @midmodgal Virgil eh. I fancied Scott myself bugt agree, Troy does it for me now!

  • Marina was my first feminine icon.. as a five year old..

  • GA was the King.

    what a show

  • still good looking after all this years..

  • In what way was that supposed to be funny?

  • Marina ...what a girl .. she could go down for ages wihtout coming up for air .. and she could not speak .. what moe could you wamt from a girl

  • @MrDaleplan v.funny

  • @MrDaleplan very funny

  • very funny

  • @MrDaleplan very funny

  • @MrDaleplan ;-)

  • loved it ,still love it

  • The only sort of sci fi/ space fantasy I'll watch is made by either Gerry Anderson or George Lucas. The rest is all a load of cock. Still!!.....

  • I'd like to sing this song to Marina Sirtis

  • I see Troy Tempest is James Garner and Aqua Marina is Brigitte Bardot. Who was Atlanta supposed to be?

  • @FoxPlant2006 Sidney Poitier

  • My father worked on this show in the mid 60's. Apparently , he said Aqua Marina was extremely demanding to work with, she insisted on freshly squeezed Bolivian goats milk before she went on stage.

And my father said she stunk of fish.

  • @bonnie43uk Thanks for that, I haven't laughed that much in ages!

  • @bonnie43uk ahhh those were the days eh,i remember your father talking about your mother when he mentioned marina and the fish smell pmsl

  • @bonnie43uk ahhh those were the days eh,i remember your father talking about your mother when he mentioned marina and the fish smell pmsl

  • @bonnie43uk yeah he said the same about your mum!!!!!

  • GA the King of TV...

  • She looks like Angelina Jolie. I'm only 21 and I remember watching this all the time.

  • Ms.Lois Maxwell is also remembered as"Ms.Moneypenny"in the "James Bond"movies and Mr.Robert Easton is remembered for playing hillbilly types on tv and in the movies.

  • he loved her i know he did he had tht look lol

  • I wanted to be Aqua Marina! My Dad used to make cinefilms of us as kids but we also had an episode of Stingray on celluloid- used to love watching it at home on the "big screen"

  • Not meaning to detract from the brilliance of this song or the series, bit does anyone else recognise the freshwater tropical fish in the, 'sea', behind scenes of Marina swimming? Guppies and Swordtails, I believe?

  • what a great find--I loved this show and wish someone would rewind it-any1 know if it's on video?Great Great song.

  • OK, please someone help me out, I used to watch this as a kid, (loved it), but I cant for the life of me remember why Marina doesnt talk?

  • @LockyLuLu

Apparently her people were cursed by Titan. If any of them speak, one of them will die. It was in one of the radio broadcasts they did.

  • @zonapellicuda Thanks dude, has been bugging me for ages.

  • Wow! I've never heard of this program. A kiddie program with such a romantic adult ending theme? Amazing.

  • @SirTenTea The guy who made the show, Gerry Anderson, never wanted to make kids shows, so basically he made adult shows disguised as kids show. This is why they are still watchable and don't insult the kids intelligence or patronise them like modern kids shows do :-) Btw I was lucky enough to have met Gerry Anderson, great guy.

  • The Stingray pilot looks like James Garner

  • @SGGH12 – James Garner indeed. Well spotted, here's a pound. Apparently they tried to make the characters look a bit like famous actors of the day and Troy Tempest was modeled on him. There was even an article about it in TV21 once. P.W.O.R. etc...

  • Stand by for action!

  • This is ridiculous!

  • @iamthepope You are correct. This song stands out because it is a rumba. Another rumba based song stands out in the british invasion by Unit 4+2 called "Concrete and clay.

  • @iamthepope You are correct. This as well as the other Gerry Anderson shows were some of my favorites in the 60's. I purchased the dvds of Stingray and Fireball XL 5 and Thunderbirds and the quality is fantastic. To hear the sound tracks over a good system is a real delight. This was and always will be one of my favorite songs. Incidently it's a rumba which predates another rumba based record by a group from the British invasion of the 60's called "Concrete and clay" by Unit 4+2.

  • Thank You Jerry Anderson for my growing up some of the best ever Childrens Television.

  • Marina is still wonderful :) Poor Atlanta - bright, beautiful babe and just can't compete.

  • mar-eeee-na, aqua mar-eee-na, whats that strange enchanting smell of fish whenever your near

  • I always felt so bad for Atlanta. That tension between her and Marine really made the show whole.

  • @crispycritterz Atlanta was a ginge though, looked liked she had big thighs too ...lol

  • @psychodamned big thighs is a bad thing?

  • I probably did hear lots of modern music in my early years because my parents' musical tastes are more balanced than mine - they like a bit of everything - but I must have forgotten it. I have a rather sharp memory for things that interest me (like these lovely melodies) but forget other things.

  • @Ilovecats112233

Thanks for the lovely kind email. : - )

  • @Ilovecats112233 Kids memories , nothing like them.

  • I know I heard all these when I was a little girl because I recognised them instantly when I heard them again as a teenager for the first time in years. I have no memory of modern music from my early years, and it seems to have left a permanent mark on my musical tastes.

  • I'm only eighteen and grew up in the 90s, but I really do feel as if I grew up in the 60s. In the first few years of my life, I would watch classic Disney films obsessively. Mum had a record player and I heard Morningtown Ride and Georgy Girl by The Seekers over and over again. Dad would watch Star Trek, Thunderbirds and later Star Wars on the cheap, simple little television set with my younger brother, and I heard this song many times at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

  • @Ilovecats112233

What a lovely Comment you Posted here - and how lovely you are! You seem to have such an appreciation for the things and times of my generation - they were truly wonderful times to grow up with - never lose the magic - you're quite 'special'. : - )

  • From my childhood, i'm 52 now, was 6 when this was broadcast, fab prog, wonderful.

  • Wow! Just hearing the song brings back wonderful memories. Loved the show. It seemed so real - even though lo tech by today's standards. Beauty in simplicity

  • Tiki music. I still remember the lyrics after all these years.

  • I have this end track on a DVD and play it every day, nuts I know! but the musical composition, the great voice of Gary Miller together with mermaid type backing singers makes it very compulsive and very up lifting !!

  • What A song beautifully sung there are certian songs and tv shows that make you forget your age and problems and take you back to your carefree childhood

days of endless summers and great tv progammes like Stingray.

This Has got to be in the top 3 for anyone over 50 . Happy Days only if we could return to them . (Ah well one can only dream)

  • I used to watch it when I was 8 years old! Now I'm 20. Greeting from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  • this song is also ingrained into my memory, and i'm only 18... gotta love BBC reruns

  • You aint kidding , im 21 [ 22 on Friday ] and i remember this from the 90's .

Would be fun if Stingray [ and Captain Scarlet perhaps ] where made into Live Action Films , but in the way that the 2004 Thunderbirds Film was , it was ok , but it felt sort of messed up for me .

  • i always felt they were sing about me !!!haha

  • may b it was. lol

  • would have been nice lol

  • the name marina means a lot to me. specialy. after waching this show.and learning about the mairmade. that was my dream. marina.

  • garry millar died in 1968 of a heart attack but djd u no he was a great singer and had 2 cds all of own

  • Im 47 and still in love with aqua marina....What a woman...

  • Me too Super & the same age....48 in April. Takes me back

  • This song is seared in my mind, and I am somewhat past 21.

  • When i was I child I was going to be Aqua Marina when I grew up! I had a massive crush on Troy Tempest........so did Atlanta, poor thing! lol

  • these shows were very special.I did have dreams about them. for first time in 20 years heard this melody. I was touched. beautifull melody.

  • this song brings back my childhood.............. thanks for posting!!

  • hahahaha this is hilarious...I think I don't like my name anymore now..hahah

  • This next to Thunderbirds, Joe 90 and Stingray - excellent stuff!

  • A perfect song for an incredible TV series... Just seeing those end credits brings back all the emotions of being a TV21 kid again... oh, and no one could have performed it better than Gary Miller.

  • @givemeagirl1 lol :-)

  • reason my mum named me marina LOL!

  • puppet love :)

  • one of my favorite cartoon from my childhood

  • my name is marina and none of the boys sing this song to me lol

  • @xxxcoolchick78xxx i know a marina and i'd sing this song to her every day if i could. what a gorgeous name you have... lucky duck...

  • When I was at primary school, a friend of mine hated this song. Why? Her name was Marina and all the boys kept singing it to her.

  • I loved Troy as a 3yr old girl and sooooo wanted to be Marina :O)

  • Paganmaiden.....me too! So much so I nearly drowned myself in the neighbours pool trying to breathe underwater.

  • The tension between Atlanta and Marina completed the show for me. It added an edge that was new then, but poorly applied in today's scripted shows.

  • I've always loved this song since I was a child.

  • This bolero always makes me cry.

  • since Stringray finished Marina hit the bottle and now lives in a council flat

  • M8 wet my pants in laughter you hit my funny bone cried with laughter well done

  • I dont know what Troy saw in Aqua she was very wooden and one dimentional

  • She was no nag, the perfect woman.5'8"38*28*38

  • poor atlanta she never got a look in with marina aorund!

  • Even with today's computer generated animation, these "supermarionation" TV series' still seem quite unique and outstanding.

Compared with other, three-dimensional puppetry, such as Muppets, these shows seem very realistic and nearly life-like, not at all dated.

To make an analogy, using typical animation, the difference between this series and Muppets is like the differences between Disney animation and "Beavis & Butthead" or "King Of The Hill."

  • What you are saying is that we all fell in love with our youth. Thank god for that!!!!

  • I think kids today would enjoy seeing these series on TV, would at least offer some entertainment balance along with all the forced educational shows and social engineering passing for kids TV programming today (thanks to the socialist influence of the Public Broadcasting System and their ilk). What is wrong with entertainment for its own value, not every program having to provide a message or sneaky subtext?

I mean, there just has to be something in between "Barney" and " "Grand Theft Auto

  • Fantastic!

  • Gerry Anderson programs are amazing

  • I was 30 though lol haha . Not really about 10 i think .

  • Mongo Straight, Semper-Fi Carry On.

  • Ha marina she holds my heart even now 35 years later.

  • so much better than thunderbirds in my opinion

  • I love this song , when love was love

  • soo true!

  • I always wondered what this looked like in colour. Wonderful childhood memories of this programme. Marina was my first crush!

  • Was one of my first crushes as well ! But before that i was a bit frightened of her aged about 2 ! Lol

  • What a great show.I always watched this at my grandmother's house.

  • this music and show. is part of my childhood. very nice melody and tv series

  • You know I wonder...

What would happen if Troy and Marina were to go all the way.

A Terranian and a Sea-girl... that would be a parring to remember

  • yeah you'd create amy winehouse

  • Comment removed

  • thanks x. gone all goose pimply at my age!!

  • I just lived for this part. Sad isn't it

  • She is so wonderful... i am now in the middle 40's and I am sooooo happy to have seen her again after such a long time.

The music is still so beautiful. Thanks a lot.

  • Angelina Jolie is not a patch on Marina..Fact...

  • Marina probably has a more interesting line in conversation too as well as the unusual respiratory system.

  • I wasn't around when stingray was first shown, but my dad watched it when it came back on. I fell in love with the whole show including this song. One of the best songs i have ever heard.
