i just picked up my first tattooing gun about three weeks ago and i've been practicing like crazy. it comes naturally to me. i have looked and looked for years now for an apprenticeship and haven't found any so i'm going to teach myself and so far its working successfully for me. i do reccomend tattoo apprenticeships but still. like jammerjawz said if you're good, AWESOME if not, practice.

And to anyone else who want/needs to know, you can use detol (the cleaning agent) to apply transfers, and as far as i know (talking from expierance) you can use any paper you want, and any PEN, pencils usually need to be really sharp, and vecause of this they usually tear through the paper :-D

There are pricks out there that want to call themselves "artists", to me I just saI do tattoos. It doesnt make you an artist just because you know how to make a tattoo. It is the label customers use for someone wo is really good at "tattooing". So be wary of these poserswho call themselves "artists". The tattoo word is full of big egos that need to be feed by people willing to subject themselves to the idea that they have to be "apprentice". Tattoo "artists" need to get over themselves.

Sorry you didnt get an opportunity to get an apprenticeship.. but not all tattooists are assholes... wasnt easy toget someone to teach a girl how to tattoo either... but i stuck with it... and it's not like food or clothing..people don't "need" tattoos.. its a luxury.. not a necessity.. and almost all of the tattooers i know are currently apprenticing someone.. as am I... so lets not walk around with chips on our shoulders...

alot of u dont realize that it aint as easy as u say to jus get an apprenticeship. plus we are in a more modern day lifestyle trying to look for faster but efficient ways of doin things... some people just dont have the hook ups that others do... so we jus go by trial and error and any advice one professional has to offer or give educationally, i myself tattoo on my free time i aint tryna get rich just yet doin so cus i kno i aint got the total skillset, but i love it and das it!

I actually started tattooing when I was aprison guard. I was intrigued by the way inmates would make their own tat guns and they laid down some wicked tattos. I allowed them to tat in return for their tips on tattooing. That is how I started. I went to get a few tattoos myself from rgular shops and asked alot of questions and payed close attention. If you have a steady hand and common sense then you have a chance of being a tattoo artist.
