  • Sweet man!!great job!!! Sounds great!you should give more strenght to the lower strings on the arpeggio!

  • wow perfect job!!

  • Absolument magnifique ! Bravo !

  • One of the most perfect melodies on bass guitar. I like it it so much and I try to learn it from your video (chukle). Go ahead dude you play so precise :)

  • just a question...i see a lot of bassists say that they record straight into their computer. so when ur playing, can u hear what ur playing?

  • @eaterofcandy You can if you use headphones and a DI box or go to the volume control and turn the line in up and the regular sound down. I use my gallien-krueger head and have a seperate signal sent otu of it into the computer whereas one comes into the cab.

  • СУПЕР ЧУВАК , УВАЖАЮ!

  • That's incrediable!

  • amazing ? tab please priv:*

  • I love playing this song on bass!!!!

  • that was fucking fantastic! i agree with Loveydvy99 that i would liked to have heard the whole thing with just the bass cos this really is a beautiful solo and can do without the rest of the music and not only that but your playing is brilliant. nevertheless this is the best ive heard anyone do this, your a great player!!! fucking stunning work!

  • Wow. That was absolutely note perfect... Looks like someone definately put in the time to learn this...

  • If I remember correctly it took a few hours to get the guitar part arranged in a way that made sense to me. I'd learned Stu's solo years earlier, though, so that was no trouble.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • great!

  • Damn, I wish I had a 5 string.

  • I'm no musician (i just really love this song) but I think I would have preferred to hear more of "just you". As a solo it's so achingly beautiful and whatever the music is telling you seems too personal to have input from any other instruments. At least, to me. But hey, good job, I liked it :) especially the last 2 minutes

  • great job, man...!

    How long dica take bass??

  • You would be a natural on the Chapman Stick.

  • I love your sound man, not the sound with the efects, YOUR SOUND. Great job man

  • This is one of the best songs I've heard in awhile. Very soothing and beautiful. I hardly ever pay attention to the bass part in a song... just not one of my faves, but you did a wonderful job! Maybe now I'll start noticing the bass more. God has given you a very great talent, and I hope you'll go far with it. Congrats on winning the TSO contest... they're the best (at least in my opinion)!

  • Hey man I've got to ask... how do you make the sounds on 4.42? I found my way to do it by hitting the string with my fingertip, right over the bass capsule, but it sounds a little bit different, thou I reach the same tone and note. How do you do it? 'Cause it looks like you do it just like Stu.

    Thanks in advance

  • You put your thumb on the string while hitting the string with your finger (and your other hand keeps the fingers on the fret, i think it's D-18, G-21. It's like doing a natural harmonic, but with your thumb, outside the fretboard. It's called artificial harmonics, I think

  • Hey man, so I was thinking, how would you like to do a bass duet sometime? Where do you reside? And would you have the ability to send sons back and forth via internet?

I realize this is random, but I think it would be really cool. Let me know if you are interested or able.

  • nice!!!!!!!

  • sick job man

  • ehy dude, congratulations from an italian bassist, you are one of the best bass player i see on youtube, where do you come from? have you got myspace ? very very good job man

  • That's awesome :)

Could you send me the tabs?

    Thanks!

  • There are only like 12 chords. Certainly you can transcribe it yourself. ;)

  • your arms are way sexy. i didn't know this song, but i like your version. very cool.

  • whats your right hand technique. think you could make a short vid or something.or if you oculd verbly explain it that would be awesome too.

    lol

  • My right hand technique for this song? What parts of it are you asking about?

  • just the very beginning.cause right now im just down stroke with my thumb on the chord then coming up and upstroking with my index finger is that somewhat close?

  • I use my thumb, index, and middle fingers for every chord. So, thumb on the A string, index on D, and middle on G. Then I hit the E or B with my thumb any time I can to keep the pedal note going. Also, on the second chord, I roll the chord ever so subtly.

Down stroking chords with your thumb will tend to give you an inconsistent sound, thus the tri-finger method that I (and Stu) use.

  • thanks alot duuuude.

  • right now. im down-stroking all the notes with my thumb. then up-stroking the g and d string with my index finger. bu ti doubt thats its right cause it seems that you and stu play it with both the thumb and pluck at the same time.

  • This is probably the only decent cover of this solo ... well this one kicks ass but the rest seem really crap . Good job

  • HeY Stu played it on a 4 string, you have it on a 5 string, what adjustments did you make? i have the 4 string tab, can't find the 5 string tab. Any help?

  • I add the low G# (9th fret) for the Emaj9/G# chords. And for the guitar part, I have to use the low B for the low F#, G#, and A between 1:00 and 3:16, because the stretches would otherwise be impossible. For the bass solo, though, you really don't need the low B; I only use it once.

The only five string tab around is the one I made years ago and never submitted to any of the tab sites. :)

  • Dude you're awesome. I'm going to learn this tonight!

  • Oooo veeery nice!! Where can can get these tabs dude!?

  • It's just as easy as buying Joe's book, and arranging the guitar part for bass!

And I'm sure somebody else has done a tab for Stu's solo somewhere on the net, though I haven't seen one yet (nor have a I looked).

Transcribe it yourself if you'd like!

  • Perfeito!

    Tá muuuito bom!

    Abraço...

    ...

  • A very nice Spector. One day, one day... I can't stop dreaming about that Rebop 4 DLX.

  • Nice job!

  • better than stu hamm for sure!!

  • Dude, we talked a long time ago on Myspace, and I was thinking, how crazy would it be to do a bass duet thing? Something tasteful...you know, more than just wank?

    Where are you located?

  • that is great! How long have you been taking bass lessons for?

  • I took lesson for... probably a solid year.

And that was three years ago.

Other than that I'm 100% self taught... which really breaks down to me being 90.9% self taught.

  • nice job, didnt like the bg music tho. i would've dropped it for this kind've thing

  • Say again? Without the actual song on top, there's nothing to listen to! I was just demonstrating how I've adapted the rhythm guitar chords to bass.
