  • crazy.

  • so much wuts were given

  • 68 people had seizures when they tried to click like

  • The magpie represents lustful yearnings for freedom, and the owl represents what remains after one hits the hard reality of life, the owl failed in its own adolescent pursuit of coital bliss, and settled down. It now has a burning hatred of all who attempt in the endeavour it has failed. If he cant have it, no one can.

  • @ReverendNillerz Well done.

  • Amazing video. This owl looks like judge. It's bright and hollow eyes saw all crimes and his patient will bring dispiteous punishment.

  • It made me cry, because I feel trapped like that bird, because I have bad anxiety disorders and cannot escape, though I want to. The owl seems to have given up escape, and seeing the other bird try seems unreal or does not phase it. The make up seems like a metaphor for covering up.. or hiding.. like the owl seems to be doing.. and the crow/magpie has to accept it now.

  • @WinterCritter you need a mind monster charm.

  • @WinterCritter the thing is, the magpie doesn't seem like it will ever accept that. after i read the comment saying it's a bird which is attracted by shiny things, the video made me think that it's act is not conscious. it simply doesn't know why it wants it, and doesn't know why it can't have it. and it gave me the feeling that it doesn't have the ability to give up, because the urge will never give him a rest.

  • @WinterCritter even it drops down to the floor exhausted, the one thing on its mind will be that shiny thing. it seems like in a hopeless fight, trapped in a vicious circle that will go on and on forever. man, this is depressing :( yet also sounds like the metaphor of the most stubborn freedom fighter.

  • @WinterCritter Stop being a wuss and man up.

  • @LCxCZ

stop being insensitive and post constructively. i just hope you'll take this into consideration, even though this is only a youtube comment stream.

that being said, thoroughly enjoyable animation and song. the simplistic style really works. also, the string/guitar sync-up at 0:17 is a great way to start a video.

  • WHY THE LIPSTICK?

  • where the fuck did all of the good top comments go to/?

  • Two mortal enemies one tied by a string while the other observes from his perch...I think the owl tied the crow and is sadistically enjoying the crow struggle...having some fun with his dinner :)) yet again the owl could be someones pet and likes to feed it in a sadistic manner...who knows, it's a pretty cool animation at that...

  • A bit of weed or something like that, secretlyjag?

  • *kissed

  • owl gentlemen of night whose soul is sealed in the darkness and which soul is issed by silence let your evilness escape trough the only light of hope

  • i dont get the message

  • wow FANTASTIC animation. just great

  • this video is beautiful, simple and doesn't need any lyrics. I think the best part is the resonance it has with everyone for different reason <3

  • this shit is epic

  • what is this video...and why does it make me so sad?

  • I don't care about the bird. This band has by a mile, the GAYEST NAME EVER!!!!!!!

  • @murderousbastard83 I agree that their name is awful, but it's not exactly 'gay'..

  • @insectsinmyclothes Alright, mellodramtic is the word I would choose. Most of the gay people I know are mellodramatic though.

  • @murderousbastard83 Yeah, mellodramatic is pretty spot on. Though even if most of the gay folks you know are mellodramatic, I disagree if you think that all/most gay people are :)

  • @insectsinmyclothes No not all. Just the ones I know are sterotypical. Lol.

  • Anyone knnow what software was used to create this? I'd like to think it was done with Maxon Cinema 4D.

  • watch?v=p3bkmD-70e4

Someone seems to have borrowed this video...

  • I must have watched dozens of ideas on what the imagery means make it into the top comments, and then be replaced...

I've not been satisfied by any of them.

  • this song sounds like a poorly done rip off of "undercurrent" by windy & carl

  • trippyyyy... nice:)!

  • This is creepy, and sad, and scary! :( :( :( Well done.

  • The owl is obsessed with the string like the magpie is obsessed with the light. Dark.

Is he studying it or listening to its song?

  • I think this video is better suited this song Дельфин - Туннель (Dolphin - Tunnel).

  • what a bizarro song but a brilliant video. the movement of that bird trying to fly away is just, sublime.

  • fuck! i love this video!

  • This video is fucking awesome

  • Who cares what its about, the fact is this is just simply awesome.

  • @rackybangoo Worst comment ever.

  • There are dozens of ways we could interpret this video.

  • The crow is the protester who wastes his time petitioning fat cats who don't give a shit...

    ;)

  • Just one interpretation, but - the raven/crow/magipie is a person striving for freedom and fulfillment in a culture that keeps these out of reach and instead throws scraps and garbage in its face (ie, any modern western culture);

The owl sees the trap but knows it would not be able to communicate this to the crow/whatever even if it wanted to - it is the person who sees the system for what it is (and is therefore already 'free' in some way).

One could read it other ways as well.

  • Maybe the Magpie represents consumerism and how our desire for more stuff ties us down and distracts us from freedom [the window/light].

  • And can i just add that you people who think the "raven" is the protagonist in this video are severely incapacitated in the head

  • @theevmeister There is no call for such belligerent jackassery. There are less offensive ways of getting your point across, troll.

  • Yes. You clearly have no idea whats going on here so stop trying to sound deep

  • The question is though; does the owl have a rope of its own?

  • My God! It's full of stars! [The Monolight]

  • No one knows what's behind the light. It's the owl that wants to live in ignorance as it is just watching. It's better to try reach at something that is unlikely to happen than keep passive and just to wait for your end. Maybe the raven is taking the wrong approach, but it's still trying.

  • I'm confused, with one is the owl?

  • Which cam frist, Apparat's arcadia or this?

  • @nolovelost92 This song, this video was actually made for the song.

  • Its about escape - even if the effort is foolish vain dangerous the raven never stops but the owl is wiser and knows he too is tethered and can never leave...

  • This is so fucking good. Is this tool! :D

  • The Owl is pimping the crow!

  • This video is fucking amazing..

  • Good, but a bit of a tease, though. . . where the fuck's the rest of that song? That was a pretty but simple chord progression played twice.

  • You guys are all wrong! This is just a parody of saw (you know, that weird psycho movie) The owl is jicksaw and he is torturing the raven for in 5 minutes he will explode, that's why he's so desperate. xD

  • omg This has to be played on Breaking Bad. It just has that dark quality that's also in the show.

  • @playedescapade holy crap as soon as you said that i could totally see that to like an ending scene like how they do the muted endings with a song after somethin crazy happend (while jesse was sitting on the couch about ready to explode) haha

  • maybe the raven is just exercising and the owl is motivating him by looking exremly unnerving

  • maybe the raven is just exercising and the owl is motivating him by looking exremly unnerving

  • fucking great song !!!!!

a whole new love to these post-rock dark band!!!

  • Interpretation is up to an individual not the masses

  • @TRUSTmeIMaDOCTOR1 imaginary high fives

  • At first I didn't really understand it until I read some of the comments that were posted.

But I can now see that the raven was representing us and our "need" of materialistic belongings, while the owl seemed a bit more relaxed as he could see what the raven was too blind to see, that being that we don't need material possessions to make us happy, when all we have to do is look around and see what we've already got, friends, family... Each other. The art was great, who ever put this video togeth

  • According to my trusty symbolism dictionary, Ravens can represent materialism. Which makes perfect sense here.

  • THIS is art.

  • How about everyone stop saying each other is wrong and understand that art like this is open for interpretation?

  • All that represent the BAVARIAN ILLUMINATI.. the owl is wisdom ,, the raven the human without it.. the cutter is GOD(religion) .. all the under the eye.. the EYE OF HORUS..the humans will never reach the light..ever

  • The owls are not what they seem...

  • 'Azzi vostri

  • Ravens are usually considered as one of nature’s most clever creatures. Yet here, You can clearly see its desperation. Tied down at the ankle, it tries its best to reach for freedom as the entire clutter is flying past. Even the choice of colors has its own meaning here. Black to white, an extreme distance to extreme close-up. An illusion, that gives us a false hope of reaching something we will never be able to obtain.

However, the owl is not tied.

    It can see the light.

    And its vanity.

  • the owl represents wisdom, the light is in his eyes, he doesnt need the clutter and junk to be happy, the raven never actually looks at anything, he is just blinded by the light, he just want to get at the light because it looks nicer than the dark, he doesnt care about what is better for himself, he represents human nature.

  • so fucking brilliant!!! ▪♥▪

  • open your minds! the raven represents the human race trying to see passed all the materialistic garbage thats destroying our planet and keeping us from evolving.

the owl is a hunter who can see in darkness, works under darkness.

it should make everyone angry that we may all never see the true light, what its like to live in peace with no worries. Unless we open our eyes and minds.

  • mer a bagoly mindent vág... (because the Owl knows everything)

  • i don't get it. owls supposed to eat smaller birds, like this one. am i wrong? however, it's a stunning piece of art even if i can't see what's the point. with all the representing stuffs, the owl should eat the other bird. really.

  • There is no real freedom, struggle for it is futile.

  • why was there lipstick flying in the air?

  • @planetqueenie Because is all about a girl...

  • @Flrestarter your a fucking fool

  • the crow gets fucked

  • crisp imagery and animation

    good work!

  • This is wicked trippy, I like it

  • Owls are cool.

  • HEY !!! WATCH "JELLY PLANE" on YOUTUBE !!!

  • I love this video.

Would you get out of your personal comfort zone and help yourself and the people around you? So many people are watching horrible things happen and they never say anything, they never stand up and say: hey, this is wrong, lets try to make it right.

Instead they sit in the dark and are too self-centered, small-minded or scared to speak their mind and change things. Why bother, I'm quite alright, I might get in trouble. Go on, owl, a little light won't hurt you, fly to help.

  • I see the raven as humanity trapped by their consumerism, the owl represents corporate greed / big business... staring, as we can not escape the clutches of what we are TOLD we "NEED" in our lives... The owl has us trapped, and makes it difficult (if not impossible to escape it), and exit though the light (or enlightenment) and the owl fiendishly knows this.

  • the owl da sola riesce a spazzare via gli ultimi due album degli interpol, gli i love you.. sono sottovalutati in una maniera impressionante

  • The video is stolen from Apparat. The video is much more relevant when you hear it to the Apparat song.

  • @MrJonnielights The video isn't stolen, it was created by Emmanuel Ho for this song. Check out his website, he uses this song specifically. I haven't checked out Apparat's song, but I think this song fits the video perfectly. It's ominous music for one really bad ass looking owl. LOL

  • "Do you expect me to caw, Owlfinger?"

"No Mr. Crow, I expect you to fly."

  • Wow, this is brilliant!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm going to be scared of owls for the rest of my life.

  • fucking owl :|

  • this video is a representation of suffering and non suffering. THe raven wants light, the raven wants freedom. The owl sits and accepts, the owl is not suffering. This reminds me of the teachings of buddha and how life involved suffering. It reminds me of that saying that life is imperfect.

  • buddha said "all life is imperfect"

  • Super! Love it!

  • Why is it so popular these days to leave stories without an ending? Conclusions always fill up the past with meaning.

  • I think the video meant something like this /watch?v=EdszpgJNLkw

  • 58 people have chosen to live in darkness. Sad but true.

  • "Lord give me the strength to change what i can, the courage to accept what i can, and the wisdom to tell the difference..."

  • this video is amazing

  • the raven is ignorance

the light is all he has to look at so he strives to get to it

the rope will make it so he can never get what he wants

the objects represent the useless clutter that comes with wanting things

the owl represents knowledge knowing that just because somethings there it doesn't mean it's for the better

he sees through all the clutter where the raven just gets caught up in it all trying to reach something he never can

the owl can see without it

the raven is a slave to the light

  • @Nosfora2 owls eat crows

  • @Nosfora2 ravens are actually really smart -___-

  • @Nosfora2 That is not raven, it's a magpie... bird that is attracted by shiny objects.

  • @IkazuchiNYC That's actually not a magpie either. Magpies are black and white.

  • @MentallyUnsanitized My assumption was that we can only see the silhouette of it, not that the thing is actually jet black colored.

  • Comment removed

  • @MentallyUnsanitized Not if it's artistically done. Just as a generic black silhouette. Either way, I don't think it's supposed to be a single TYPE of bird.

  • @zgates I don't think it matters enough to analyze it that much. The point of the video isn't to identify what species of bird it is.

  • @IkazuchiNYC

    They're all crows.

  • @IkazuchiNYC how do you know its a magpie?

  • @IkazuchiNYC mmm... it's a Common Blackbird (Turdus merula), the orange eyes are so explicit

  • @IkazuchiNYC no its monkey

  • Comment removed

  • I feel like stirring, nigga please the owl is moloch yo and dah ravens is all of us beings and the nwo gon kill us. Ok but seriously, this affected me.

  • jebote!

  • @glowingnipple totalno.

  • Ravens=humanity

Light= answers to basic questions of humanity existence, sense of life(impossible to reach(the rope), even if we trying to, the raven flyes hoping desperatly)

    The Objects= our society

The Owl=two possibilities for me : the symbol of wisdom, knowing that it is useless to fly desperatly (those who decides to stay in the darkness) OR the death, we don't know when it's coming, but we cannot avoid it.

So, is there a possibility to cut this F******* rope!!!

  • @wearejustmaterial in my opinion...

    owl is a pimp.

  • Really liking this discovery! check L.A. indie band ALSO in my favorites, could be your next discovery just Chosen Darkness is mine.

  • . the objects getting on the crows face represent obstacles: addiction, material desire, and insecurities. The rope attached to the bird symbolizes the will to liberate ones self and accept the absurdness of life; a mechanical life. The owl since is a larger being represents a dominant force that can either be A. God looking with scorn at what society has become. or B. The government looking at their social creation (us), which is going according to plan since the rope never rips.

  • Ravens are known to collect shiny objects, which makes me believe it symbolizes greed, or consumerism, as it is flies through materialistic things trying to reach something it can never. the fact that the garbage is coming out of the window, indicates that the other side is not a greater place to be. but the raven wishes to go there, because contrary to the owl, it can't see in the dark. the owl and the raven are perfect counterparts, representing two entirely different kinds of people.

  • Oh my god he is gonna wear lipstick!!!

Actually it is about a toxic relationship.

  • i totally see this completely different. I think this can be connected to a kind of conspiracy theory. or just an addiction over a powerless being. the white light has always signified "another side" or "pure freedom." The raven endlessly tries to fly towards it, never resting. yet, he is blindsided by many objects. yet, he keeps flying, unaware he can never make it there. while an owl- mind you- one without soul, because he has no eyes, dark and still watches one of his own, a bird, not fly.

  • Does no one feel for the crow/raven?

  • @laflecack yes:'(

  • You always want to believe that you have chosen the darkness. What if the society push you into the darkness? Everyday, in your daily life, just because you are this or that or something. Push, push, push for years. You find yourself in darkness then...

You love society but you have chosen the darkness? Individualism and the instruments of capitalism push you into the darkness.

  • Wisdom is to not waste ur strength when you know there's no hope!

  • One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ;-)

  • I see the underlying theme here as hopeless struggle vs. calm acceptance. The crow is frantically flapping, desperate to reach the light. The items tumbling past form a metaphor, with the crow being an individual in modern society, influenced by various wants in life (lipstick being women, can tab being alcohol, etc.), mindlessly pushing to have more. Be "better." The owl represents those that have given up on these things. Those that accept themselves for who they are. They belong in the dark.

  • poor bird go bird go fly out the window!!

  • Do we ever see the crow flap its wings?

  • this is not a song, it's a videoclip

  • that is FUCKED UP. THEY ARE NOT THE CREATORS OF THIS VIDEO!!! LIES!!

  • incrdable!!!

in some way it dives me crazy

  • Incredibly bright!

  • Comment removed

  • what software/technique would have been used to make this?

  • @TheFatboyisgay I think Adobe After Effects

  • just shows an owl about to fuck up a tethered crow as far as I'm concerned

  • Comment removed

  • Well we see the first two parameters and trapped bird represents freedom

male being private, and the owl (Fig. oppressive of women) and very simple to

interpretation just watch it and you fully understood the message does "NOT MARRY"

  • What video, I was too busy listening to the music, soz

  • This is the most intense video i have seen i a loooong time. The most absorbing 2:47. Well done all involved! xx

  • I see a relationship. Where the owl is possessive, cruel, definitely a hunter. The raven is the victim by choice.... Just my vision.

  • not looking into meaning deep or anything, but literally...

it looks like a crow that's tied to a string for the owl to hunt ((If there are bird hunting owls existing)). the owl is watching and waiting for the crow to tire out before catching and killing it.

the crow is doesn't want to die so it struggles for its life.

it looks like someone is throwing trash at the crow too... animal cruelty, not nice.

  • @lindigaro I See your point and agree with you

  • why is everyone examining this so closely? it's kind of creepy -.-

  • @Puchigardiechan besides, all i know is that 'poor raven/crow!!!'

  • @Puchigardiechan why is it creepy?

  • thumbsup if ya wer lookin for i wuv ya but u wuv her thtz happenig to ma :*(

  • @brandon75689 now that i have watched it a second time your statement makes the most sense. very well spoken.

  • well either way one can never know what goes on in another persons mind. if you truly wish to know what the director "Emmanuel Ho" was thinking when he made this art then there is no better way but to ask. you can guess and make statements and assumptions all you like but its all coming from your mind. in another word a person only see's or perceives what he wants to at the time. as for the art, very well done. the director wanted to convey something through it. hence so many people talking.

  • And I love what the 2 highest rated comments wrote... but you guys are aware the owl is a predator, and in this situation would kill the raven, right?!

  • Impressive.

The chosen depictions of the metaphors is astoundingly good.

Nature has always been an authentic muse.

  • I think the Owl represents me having cunningly laid a trap for some unsuspecting woman to fall into and the raven is flapping so hard because well. . .. . . she doesn't wanna get raped!

  • hey yall what do you think that chapstick means? is it like vanity in the face of adversity? is it like how meaningless the raven';s dumabsas shit is ;ilah oh man this video is good and dep but the song kinda sux right yall i dont know im not a thinker or a philoshper but it see ms like this has something ddeep happening for it. im not sure though peace!

  • it's a pissed off owl. shut up everyone.

  • @DonFierceTV lol

  • @DonFierceTV Autist

  • @DonFierceTV ahahahahahaha. :D pissed off owl sounds fucking hilarious!!!

  • it seems like the owl is representing a teacher (dare i say it, god), the raven being the student (mankind?). no matter how much the raven struggles, the owl knows that the raven will have to accomplish the task at hand on his/her own to get a pure lesson .the raven is inching closer to light, rather than food, etc. The owl watches, seemingly imperceptibly quivering for the want it has to help the raven, but cannot. though it has the possibility of multiple meanings. very good video and song.
