  • @boneypart - It takes two fingers to hold a pick.

  • @boneypart - I do both, birdbrain...

  • all these lessons are crap

  • @AllanHable - Could be you...

  • great stuff

  • sweet what key are you playing this in?

  • @dammitbridge21

    G chord

  • You play really well but your lessons aren't that great. It would be more helpful if you showed both your hand at the same time, maybe even slowed it down a bit...

  • @jiffinbigles - They certainly aren't for everybody. My lessons are produced for guitar players.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar

    great lesson... and great answer

  • could take the same vid with slow mo

  • Its hard to play i have so small hands.

  • Great comeback!

    nice job on the tune

  • Thanks for a very clear video, it has clarified a couple of parts I hadn't got quite right

Nice tome on your Tele too :)

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • Awesome playing, is there anyway you could tab this out? I have this around 80% figured out, but I can't get some of the little nuances. I'd be eternally grateful :)

  • That was great

  • Ummm...while your fingering might be accurate, your tone is way, way, way, way off. I think given the choice we'd like to know how to get that TONE!

  • Hey Twangy. Loving the tuts and songs. Keep it up man.

Ps. I like the sock over the headstock in this one. ;)

  • how about the acoustic stuff? on 'flowers'

  • Brilliant. Love all your videos. For my standard though it is hard to follow without tabs etc. Still, im hooked, love it all., Keep up the good work.

  • one more comment i'am hooked can't stop watching thanks a billon

  • @warddoggy - You're welcome. Lots of other cool stuff on my channel if you can learn by watching.

  • man what a twangy guitar thats awesome dude iam trying it on an acoustic guitar with worn out strings i think i can make it happen just by watching this lesson thanks

  • hey dick weaver great lesson just had to add that since yall are haters

  • wow your playing is amazing!

  • huja mnie nauczyłeś, za szybko karwa!

  • Man, your covers and lessons are so good! I just gotta ask though, do you have any charts for chords in open G with their names? (The ones Keith uses). Really good job man!

  • @marcushendriksen - I really don't, everything I play I learn by ear. I will tell you, he only uses a couple of chords.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Awesome playing, could you tab this out by any chance? I can't seem to pick up some of the nuances in the rhythm. I'd be eternally grateful. :) BTW, how can 10 people not like this?

  • I'm sure Keith Richards wrote a lot of his riffs using this tuning, it lends itself to that type of sound, bluesy but uniquely Stones. Pure magic !

  • There's a lot of critiques and haters out there for sure. All I can say is that I have been playing for a long time and really enjoy your videos. Your technique is flawless and you have an excellent sound. I, for one, sincerely appreciate your postings and have learned a great deal from your covers. Thank you and keep them coming!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar fuck all, lol

  • i've only been playing for a year ya dick.

  • well played mate but terrible 'lesson'. you're not explaining fuck all

  • Another outstanding teaching tool and performance. Have you done one for Sunspot Baby yet. I can not get those distinctive licks to save my life. Thanks for all the great videos. they have helped me a lot.

  • This is really great..! well presented easy to follow, I already know this tuned down and always enjoy the rythem of this piece i never get tired of it.

However i sometimes play a different version in Std tuning when i can`t be arsed

re-tuning, it aint the same but i don`t care. Playing guitar is just fun & this tune you can have fun with, it doesn`t need to be played any particular way, that`s what i like about it, people listening to it don`t seem to care either, it`sjust a great song...!

  • Cheers mate for taking the time

  • is this open g?

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Well anyone who complains your playing must be a bloody great guitarist is all i can say.

  • good tone with the tele - impressive lesson

  • hey, what the hell, your still not using the low-G string in the intro, I am gonna have to tell my friend Keith the next time I see him.......lol....

    just joking

  • is that a sock over the headstock?

  • I second the others in asking for the solo part to be filmed as a lesson.... PLEASE?!!

  • Beautiful clean playing and a great lesson.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you so much man fucking brilliant you are :D helped me get the right sound and evrything......... 5 stars ;D

  • lovely, elegant playing. Very clear breakdown. Thank you so much. A really clean and clear take on it that incorporates the best of what dear old Keith and others have done with it over the years.

  • Just outstanding!

Thank you. So much. Ive been playing now for 20 years. and this clarified so very much!

  • superb channel throughout. but you MUST give us the solo!!!

  • Hey Twangy...... fantastico!

Any chance of a breakdown of the solos.

    All the best

  • Your approach for me is perfect....it is very clear ...repetition, one section at a time is the way.........my tele is like this one..... Good lesson like all others

    thnx

  • Great job, but I'd have to call this more of a "breakdown" than a lesson. I say that with all due respect and like a lot of others here, I'll be working on it ... slowly. Thanks for posting this!

  • I've got to agree with LaraSixtyEight, you do make it look easy. I will be sitting down tonight, trying to get this down......one painful second at a time! Great job! I'm a subscriber now, the other videos you have are top knotch! Thanks for posting the videos!

  • love the sound, what amp are you using??

  • Jeez settle down. Let me clarify, I didnt mean to give off a negative tone in my post. You r very good and I like your vids! So let not your ego be damaged Twangy, gotta lighten up a little. Also yes I do know that he plays it a little differently than the way it was recorded, he always changes things up a bit live. Video of my own? Nah, got crappy camera, nothing to prove and would b wasting my time since you already play it very well. Just gotta pluck that bottom A(G) string ;)

  • You make it look so easy!

  • @LaraSixtyEight - It's not that difficult really...

  • You don't have to attack the guy. Sheesh!

  • stop hatin brozeph this guy's shit is flawless

  • hey ...Mytwangyguitarfriend..chill out you are a PRO and are above answering negative comments......although i,ve played for over 40 years(and got pub payed) i,ve learned more from your channel than anywhere else...think of all the grateful guys out there......thanks for your help

  • Thats got to be the best lesson I have seen of Honky Tonk! Great job man.

  • @guitardiary - Thanks. It would have been better if I had shot the right hand as well. My performance video is a good companion for this lesson.

  • You act like you wrote the song. Anyone can imitate.

  • Smooth job man, loved it. The more positions the better. Keep'em coming. Love the stones stuff.

  • Great Stuff Twangy! I've seen a few guys trying to tutor Can't you Hear Me Knocking.

I would love to see yours if you have it!

    Thanks for all your posts!!

  • Wow...... the Stones might wish they had a guitarist like that.........

    Thanks man!

  • cool man

  • What is open G tuning ?

  • D-G-D-G-B-D

  • it´s wunderful.

  • Love the sound of that Telecaster!

Great job and thanks for posting!

  • yess yes yes

  • you are the best on here on both electric and acoustic, maybe in the world. and you play the cleanest. must have started young. my people in order i wish you would try, dylan, zeppelin. i have copied your stuff forever

  • Yes, yes, yes, YES!!!

I've wanted to know those fills forever. Thankyou soooo much for posting. I've been stuck playing bits and pieces of this for a year, now I can play the whole thing! You're a legend!

  • Really enjoying all your lessons and learning a lot ! Thanks

  • ok, will try and have another bash

    tx for reply

  • Let me know if you get stuck.

  • great stuff

would you have time to bang out a quick TAB for the intro part

  • I have a tough time writing tab. The performance video should help clarify things. The high D string (E) is plucked every time you play a note on the D and G strings.

  • how do i pluck the high D (E) while playing a note without hitting the 2nd highest string as well ?

  • You can't use a pick, you have to play it with your fingers. The performance video shows it very clearly. Let me know how you do.

  • It sounds better when you bend the strings, and not slide them... but it's tough on the fingers. Bend the E and A to the F# and B.

  • I prefer to play it correctly.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar

I LOVE YOUR RESPONSE TO THIS COMMENT!

    LOL

  • What pickups are you using? What amp? Your tone is great!

  • The tone is OK up until I do the rhythm. I shot this in the middle of the night with headphones. I didn't realize I was red lining the levels. Lindy Fralin 'Stock Tele' set. I used a Line 6 box. Check out my video response. The tone is much better, I used a 1968 Deluxe Reverb for that.

  • Checked out the other vid. Great job! Does your bridge pickup have the staggered middle pole pieces?

  • Yes, it is the staggered set. All of my Fralin Strat and Tele sets are staggered. Thanks for checking out my videos!

  • Shit, was wondering where have you been

    Glad to see ya

  • Many Thanks!

  • i cant find a tab online that matches this help!!

  • I learned it by ear. I'm posting a cover of this on July 4, the 40th anniversary of its release, maybe it will help.

  • Its in open g tuning

  • Wow, i just noticed that during the chorus for the 12 bar blues part your holding your pick regularly but when you need to use your fingers you put it in your other fingers so fast. Thats pretty cool man and thanks for the lesson.

  • cool but why the cover of the headstock

  • I was getting glare off of the headstock.

  • thanks so much! ive been wanting this one forever and now i can play it.

best honky tonk lesson on youtube by far!

    jarrod

  • This is great but I'm not sure about the "lesson" part, I can't learn anything watching your left hand. I'm just not that advanced. You play nicely though.

  • is this standard tuning?

  • Any chance of tabs for this?

    Just the intro part?

  • i guess this is an okay lesson, thanks for putting time into it. but it would be nice to see your right hand. and also to have a slow version. its almost a waste of time to learn this song from this video.

  • Whats with the sock or whatever it is around the head?

  • Wow !!!

  • awesome job,keep it up

  • Your the man !!!!!

  • awesome lesson dude!! your style sounds excellent.... keep jammin' !!
