It will work with any soda but coke works the best. Also any candy works but mentos will work the best because they are not smooth, and they sink. Its not a chemical reaction its the carbonation getting stuck in the grooves of the candy. When the candy sinks to the bottom it covers more area creating a large force of carbonation to shoot up.
