  • yeah, but it's so slow haha, very impressive machine though!

  • 0:33 Oh, so it also has a face. Swell.

  • next thing you know we'll arm it with guns and missiles and i'll finally have my own battle mech :D

  • but will it blend?

  • As an engineer myself (civil), I particularly like its ability to position itself in kind of a squatting position, and then jettison a robotic turd. AI and biology HAVE merged.

  • I'd love to see a passenger version of this. Shame John Deere seems to have killed this project altogether.

  • We invented the wheel for nothing..

  • That thing can just set out towards any patch of land, and even if there wasn't a forest there at the time it started there will be one by the time it gets there.

  • @UTubeIsTrackingYou Yeah but it'll look cool while it's on it's way :D

  • This machine is for nature rapists!!!

  • It's so sloooooooooooowwwww............. Nothing compared to

    Boston Dynamics Big Dog!

  • ahh the military uses... ah.

  • @gizmo664100 I was thinking construction, really. The military already has enough hardware and firepower.

  • @crazy4sian The Military NEVER has enough hardware, firepower and unimaginably sick ways to kill.

  • @UTubeIsTrackingYou You don't go out much, do you?

  • 26 ppl aren't autobots..

  • want.

  • The Na'Vi are screwed! Bye bye hometree :)

  • WW3 is going to be terrifying.

  • Bizarre fokkin'sheit!!

  • Next time, we will have small scale mechas like VOTOMS, next comes the Knightmare Frames then to the Megazords and finally Gundams and probably, SUPER ROBOTS!

  • why?

  • Se você gosta de hidráulica visite nosso canal mecpozzani1

  • Now you can chop down a tree without messing up the grass too much

  • 1)Place armor

    2)Place weapon

    3)?????

    4)Profit

  • spider tanks.....dear santa

  • Inspiring tech yet seems awfully slow... Any update on these machines?

  • new on MTV - Pimp My Walking Timberjack

  • quick somebody stick your leg out and trip it!!!!!!!!!!

  • i Want one of those to Strip my Slumlord From all The Rent i Paid !!!!

  • Goblin Shredders from WarCraft vs. this thing, which would win?

  • In the next decade or 2...or 3, expect tanks to be replaced by walking tanks or mechas... if development on this field continues

  • Mercury205, "Damn nature, you scary!"

  • we figure out how to build a mech, and we fucking harvest trees with it????

  • @GregTehGoose yeah build a mech which can run 5kmh and wait for the first rpg - it will be fired by a 10 year old kid because aiming will not the problem....

  • @GregTehGoose this thing can hardly be considered a mech. I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

  • @1:05

It's like they closely studied an ant, by the looks of that thing

  • Oh Jesus - It's a massive Big Dog!

  • TPTB definitely have better robot technology than they would like us to know about.

  • Rogue Group...use harpoons and tow cables....go for the legs!

  • Man..that think is SO COOL.

All it needs is are some turrets.

  • That thing come round by my house, I'd kill it

  • How long will it be until this thing becomes self aware and starts using those chopping powers on people?

  • Ok, you got me. How much, and where can I get one.

  • controlling this is gonna be like QWOP

  • But some cannot blasters and you've got an AT-TE tank from Star Wars. ;)

  • DECEPTICONS... TRANSFORM...

  • A couple of missile launchers on that thing beef up the engine and armor plate it and I think I will be in business.

  • totally StarWars google AT-TE image. movie sucks though

  • CHROME HOUNDS

  • just needs a basket and a heat ray

  • so what you have created is a low impact deforestation device? cool, way to make cutting down old growth trees environmental.

how many millions did this cost to develop cause i think i found a way to improve your profit margins.

one other thing, wouldn't you need to cut down those other trees so the trucks carrying the fuel for this thing can get to it?

  • @rns13 1. Most deforesters (Called Harvesters in Industry) are employed in the harvesting of tree farms. Most old growth forests are too irregular to make them practical.

    2. The less damage a harvest operation does to the surrounding area, the quicker it regens, the quicker you can harvest it again. It is in a loggers best interest to be low impact.

    3. Typically logging properties already have central roads, as without them, there'd be no way for pulp trucks to access the wood.

  • @eXpriest So save your dirty hippy tears for an industry that isn't looking to make fossil fuels obsolete through Biotech research.

  • @eXpriest

i absolutely stand corrected, please continue to invest millions in this project and stop asking local state and federal government for more land to harvest.

  • @rns13 Please learn the difference between Harvesting a Treefarm and Logging a Forest, you're embarrassing yourself.

  • sell it in japan ya know they want it!

  • Just that you know a regular forwader and harvester have a top speed of 25Km/h at the high gear on the low gear it is barely 10Km/h and if the terrain is bad you are going slower than 5km/h so stop complaining that it is slow I think it maybe is faster than the tracked harvester

  • WHAT IF IT GETS STUCK ?

  • Why are people complaining about this machine being too slow?

Do they realize this is a WORK machine that's built for mobility and power and not for speed?

  • Skynet.... It's happenening.

  • what happens if it ends up on it's back??

  • Add giant rubber boots for swamp loggers

  • Attach turnable wheelpairs on each leg, and here we have a thachikoma's grandfather!

  • waaay too slow.

There's a reason man created the wheel a couple thousand years ago...

  • @lesatseaside Show me a harvester that moves at more than 5KM per hour while working. This machine is built for mobility and work. Not speed.

  • if they can make it move faster then it is not so bad

  • why is it that every thing that is cool must always turn out to be ineffective? :(

  • AT-TE is here!

  • Big dog ???

  • those legs remind me of Metal Gear Solid Four

  • Amazing

  • I remember my first, it was turbocharged.

  • Now put a 105mm on the back...

  • Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssss mmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaachhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiinnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeee iiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss ssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sssssssssssslllllllllllloooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....................

  • I want one of these.......

  • METAL GEAR?!

  • I love mine. It's great for chasing those kids off my lawn!

  • is soo slow but is soo good

  • kinda slow i think

  • This is how it begins. At first robot lawnmowers then walking timberjack machines and then it's global domination!!!

  • @SkyyCaptainn SKYNET!

  • Why can't America make bad ass cars like the Germans, we make this kind of shit. Come on!!!

  • @seroyer2 i would take this over a vw anyday lol

  • @TMAXX95 ya I would take this over a VW too but I was think more about BMW M cars, or a bugatti veyron's, those kind of really bad ass cars. btw the Veyron is made by VW.

  • Timberjack? That's a lot like Candleja-

  • @timerider4

    ur doin it rong

  • @timerider4

you didn't even finish the line you faker. I know for a fact that candlejack wouldn't waste his tim-

  • @humiecrusher Why did you mention candle jack? That was such a stupid mo

  • Why don't we just cut down every last tree on the face of the earth until we have no oxygen left to breath? huh guys? Isn't that a great idea?

  • Why dont take big screw for weel this would be really fast

  • haha...if i were staying far away and see this..i would be like: "wtf....huge ass spider!!!" lol

  • Will they build a motorcycle for it?

  • Should not use it in a Swamp :S But damn that is a Nice peace of Equip

  • Apparently it has its benefits, but apparently it also wasn't marketable, otherwise they'd be on the market by now.

Regardless, I'm wondering what kind of controls the operator had, if he can independently control each leg (the video talks about stepping over objects, but that's only possible if the operator can 'tell' the machine what to step over) ride height, leg height, side-to-side, etc. So, I presume the controls were complex, and took a lot of practice to master.

  • This machine is definitely a move towards the future but a man with a chainsaw could do this things job without the cost of maintenance or gas.

But hopefully things like this will bring us more efficient walking machine in the future.

  • This is amazing, it's incredible how far we've come and how advanced Technology has become. 10 years ago I never thought I would see something like this in my life time.

Also, what does religion have to do with this?

  • that thing must be so expensive.

  • And it costs..... ?

  • I C IT BUT

    DONT BELIEVE IT ¡¡

    wow¡¡

  • construct a real mech is possible, kids :P

  • Star Wars?

  • Glad they made it to fuck up trees, good work....

  • Comment removed

  • Didn't I see that evil beast in the movie "Fern Gully"?

  • THATS A DEFILER

  • WOW!

  • metal gear!

  • how did a walking machine spark the below comments LOL!!! ????

    Get a life people

  • It's pretty cool, but now very fast.

  • i would liket to buy this mobilesuit for hobby

  • think we could fit a howetzer on the back of that thing?

  • @jonjon181

    4-5 years ahead of ya.

  • @jonjon181 I don't see how that'd be at all applicable. It would, however, be awesome.

  • @jonjon181 Howitzer will knock this thing over with recoil. But a large recoilless rifle should work almost as well.

  • @jonjon181 im sure they were already working on plans for that before they even thoguht to put a buzz saw on it. lol

  • no need to be so reserved, how about a Gauss canon, or a PPC? X3

  • The big advantage to a machine like this is that it would be quite hard for it to get stuck or not be able to climb hillsides. Short of super deep mud anyway. We've all seen skidders (us loggers I mean) get stuck on a stupid little rock of stump that you can just step over. Keep in mind guys this is still a prototype, they will be faster soon enough.

  • Yeah, it'd lose to 4 guys and a winch.

  • It wasn't meant to replace a skidder. It's meant to replace the four cutters though. Plus as a business owner, when times are tough and if you owned the machine (assuming it's paid off by then) you wouldn't have to lay off the four guys.

  • I still think squad of few people would be far more productive than this device.

  • FUCKING SLOW

  • клево оно отжимается

  • amazing. i'd go broke way to slow. maybe in the future

  • Dont you mean an AT-AT?

  • If, instead of using motors to move and rotate, we used artificial muscles, I think we could create something with a greater degree of movement and speed. Pneumatic muscles need more research, though.

  • woow looks like an AT-ST from that movie

  • LOOK! An Imperial AT-ST Stright from STAR WARS!

  • @unserdeutchland

If you call that a AT-ST, I have to seriously wonder if you have ever watched star wars or just heard legged stuff being called that.

    It's more of a AT-TE.

  • This thing was designed for mobility in dense forests and low soil erosion, not for highway speeds. It step over obstacles without crushing them and move sideways, things a conventional wheeled vehicle is not too good at.. It's not a tool for clear cutting either, but for selection cutting, and also would've been quite usable as a salvage and sanitation tool in conservation areas.

  • great this way we can kill trees and waste them on toilet paper that much quicker!

  • Walks slow, but it's only a start and hopefully the future will come up with amazing ones.

  • imagina o q iria pensar uma formiga vendo isso... mamãe!!!

  • Great!... It is amazing to see robots walking on land.... How about walking on water? See on youtube: NEWEST ROBOT THAT WALK ON WATER

  • fabuloso!!!!

  • This thing is real-life mecha.

  • It looks like a giant ant to me. But I would still love to have one. If I was super rich, I would try to help further develop that tech

  • looks slow but very cool i would like to try it

  • Awesome. I've never seen a lumber harvester like that. i've seen that bark stripper on other harvesters though.

  • What's the market for this?

  • i believe the intended market was for terrain that couldn't practically be serviced by machines using other locomotive strategies. you can draw your own conclusions about the fact that this prototype never made it to market :)

  • that is junk to slow you would go bank ruped trying to pay for it lol. XO

  • there's a reason this prototype never made it to market :)

  • @beej69 Well it has been almost a year since you posted that comment... Is this thing still only a prototype? I guess most companies don't want to invest in this innovative machine simply because it's too out of this world. But in 50 yrs or so this machine could of moved a lot faster, make less noise from the moving legs, and not be used for tree killing, hemp is a lot better. It could of been used for rescue on tough terrain, meh IDK.

  • @helllyaaa except that it would propably be used in place of a helicopter wich costs millions of dollars to buy and thousands to opperate.

  • Should have marketed it as:

    "THE SCORPION!"

  • Cool but sooooo slow, can you imagine trying to turn around 180 degrees in that thing? .........3 days later.........

  • Everything starts somewhere. The first guns took many minutes to reload between shots, and the first tank could only move at a maximum of 4mph.

  • return of the jedi stuff.......

  • that would be shit to drive slooooooooooooow

  • it's like a giant mechanical carpenter ant

  • isnt the models with tires faster?

  • 6 legs I think would make it more stable on uneven ground

  • Yes, but they can't navigate that terrain. At all.

  • how mutch does that thing cost?

    1billion?

  • Put a gun on it!

  • want

  • slooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • y do that when its so slow

  • Try driving a logging truck through that forest and see how fast it goes.

  • Why is America building the first true Mech Walkers?

Get in the game Japan, this is supposed to be your forte!!!

  • Acually, They do have Mech walkers, But on 2 legs.

They havent really gotten into more than Humanoid Mech's yet, But they're working on it as we speak. Just wait, They'll beat it to us.

  • ...

  • Actually if you search for "ROBOTOPS" you'll find a pilotless tracked/4-legged robot crane with two long arms and grabber claws. I'd pick the Timberjack for rougher outdoor stuff though.

  • Cant wait until our local SWAT team starts using these. No one will be safe.Crunch crunch, into your house.

  • Hell yeah.

  • reminds me of a giant mole cricket who ate a man

  • Its trees today, humans tommorrow!

  • now you just need some machine guns and mind-control devices on it and I think we'll be safe from Nazi zombie vampires who are also ninjas.

  • well also be safe from "nulear-equipped robot ninja dragons from the future"-Osama Smith Majora's Mask abridged adamwestslapdog

  • Why does this thing remind me of Martian Handling-Machine from H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds?

  • wOOt! i want to buy one! o_O :P O_o

  • ok put it on a hill now

  • Fits in confined spaces?.... Really?

  • trzeba miec cierpliwosc do tej maszyny xD
