This video doesn't do much justice to Sarajevo, I live here in Bosnia, and I don't like Muslims or Sarajevo to be honest, but I was there at numerous occasions, and the city looks much better than this. There's this Turkish part of the city, then the Austro-Hungarian part which is the city's core and a modern one with many modernly designed buildings with lots of glass used in their construction. Hell, I don't even know where are those small, ruined buildings located.

i also visited Croatia this summer, and while it is a beautiful tourist country with lovely coast, i can tell that they are really obsessed with their military and nationalism like Serbia is. That could be a bad thing too.

The Bosnian Muslims are called Turks by the Serbs, Croats etc. Some have Turkish blood , some don't but they are still Muslim. Many people of mixed heritage in Bosnia, have some Turkish blood as well, even though they may be Christian their great grandfather was probably a Muslim etc. Don't be ashamed of your Turkish ancestry, The Serbs killed you because of your ethnicity, always be proud of who you are!

Great video! There is an old saying here in Sarajevo, it goes something like this: "He who once take a sip of water in the Old town ( Baščaršija), he'll never leave Sarajevo". I barely survived war because of those bastards shooting from nearby hills. Although, it's being said for them ( Chetniks) that they are pussies, as a soldiers, they got scared facing real army. Mostly, they were killing civilians: old people, woman, children ( 9000 children were killed during the war).

@maxyuen 5, 150 or 150,000 is not relavant. The point is that Serbian forces under the name of "yugoslav army" invated Bosnia. Bosnians of all religions and ethnic background (especially in Sarajevo) took arms and fought the criminals like Arkan etc. Even if Arkan acted alone he has no business being in Bosnia.

Bosna is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen. When you come to Sarajevo from Zagreb or from Beograd you quickly realize that this is something completely different. People are friendly (all of them - Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats), or at last they were friendly to me. :) I could even take photos inside the mosques and churches, which was a pleasant surprise for me (for example in Beograd in orthodox churches it was a problem). Food is also delicious (čevapi, pljeskavica, burek).

Exactly I am from a Catholic family from Bosnia and I don't consider myself Croat....Croatia is a nice country to go on vacation but I could never compare it to Bosnia. Bosnia only will always be my home..there is no other place like it in the world...nothing makes me as happy as being in Bosnia.

If you look it from historical point of view, yes, Sarajevo is Bosniak (whole Bosnia is) majority. Everyone knows that Serbs and Croats in Bosnia are Croatinized and Serbed Bosniaks, in 19th century. Read some books if you want to get educated, since you think you know so much about Bosnia ^^

Yeah, but the thing is that before the Ottoman occupation, Bosnia was inhabited almost only by Croats and Serbs. The ottoman occupation just made a change in the main religion, but the people there are still mostly slavs. And I agree with you that those people that look up to Belgrade or Zagreb, should move to Serbia or Croatia, or just accept that their capital city is Sarajevo!

Yeah. It wasn't civil war, bosnians or people that know about the war in former Yugoslavia prefer to say "Yugoslavian conflict" or even "war of independence". Also, Sarajevo, is far from being or feeling like a "village". Its population is ~500,000, which is relative big for an european city. But, overall, good vid. Great sites and pictures!

The Bosnian Muslims are called Turks by the Serbs, Croats etc. Some have Turkish blood , some don't but they are still Muslim. Many people of mixed heritage in Bosnia, have some Turkish blood as well, even though they may be Christian their great grandfather was probably a Muslim etc. Don't be ashamed of your Turkish ancestry, The Serbs killed you because of your ethnicity, always be proud of who you are!

Great video! There is an old saying here in Sarajevo, it goes something like this: "He who once take a sip of water in the Old town ( Baščaršija), he'll never leave Sarajevo". I barely survived war because of those bastards shooting from nearby hills. Although, it's being said for them ( Chetniks) that they are pussies, as a soldiers, they got scared facing real army. Mostly, they were killing civilians: old people, woman, children ( 9000 children were killed during the war).

I went to catholic high school and during the Ramadan, we didn't ate while our classmates fasted..

I am Bosnian, born in Sarajevo...I would say Bosnia is definitely worth visiting, it has an amazing landscape..I feel like I am in heaven when I go there. But I wouldn't call Bosnian people friendly...they are ok but kind of cold...also most Bosnians are stupid...I am just being honest...lots of nationalists, religious freaks, and also it's extremely homophobic...but that could change if westerns would open up some businesses...let's face it, they could own Bosnia if they want

Bosnians of all religions and ethnic background (especially in Sarajevo) took arms and fought the criminals like Arkan etc. Even if Arkan acted alone he has no business being in Bosnia.

Bosna is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen. When you come to Sarajevo from Zagreb or from Beograd you quickly realize that this is something completely different. People are friendly (all of them - Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats), or at last they were friendly to me. :) I could even take photos inside the mosques and churches, which was a pleasant surprise for me (for example in Beograd in orthodox churches it was a problem). Food is also delicious (čevapi, pljeskavica, burek).

Before the war, people regarded themselves as Bosnian, regardless of religious affiliation. It wasn't until the war that people really began to look at others along ethnic and/or religion lines. The architects of the war are most responsible for promoting and exploiting differences among people who otherwise wouldn't have done so.

yeah it obvious;y passed in a parliament where 99% are serbs haha, but that only passed to assure that the whole of reforms for bosnia dont attack republika srpska independence so dodik said that if the reforms of bosnia change the status of RS then they will declare independence. But im pretty sure any intelligent person would tell u The US and EU will not let that happen after so much $ was spent and lives. What kind of leader is Dodik anyway, he used to bargain food at the market place ahahah

First, learn some spelling. Religion people are not written with capital letter. And no, Sarajevo is not even 99% muslim. Only in my class (30 students) there is 6 christians.
If you look it from historical point of view, yes, Sarajevo is Bosniak (whole Bosnia is) majority. Everyone knows that Serbs and Croats in Bosnia are Croatinized and Serbed Bosniaks, in 19th century. Read some books if you want to get educated, since you think you know so much about Bosnia ^^

Heres a thing ...there was a DNA test done before the split of Yugoslavia were it showed the majority of people had a bigger DNA tie with the illyrians that lived in Yugoslavia then the Slavs that came after. I'm from Bosnia, and that is quite true at the moment. They keep stumping on whatever we try to do, and are preventing us from growing.
If it was as easy as I say it is, I would just get rid of the RS, no need for it, just polluting our country.

So much about multhiethnic and tolerant :D and Bosnia existed even before Romans came and brouht christianity so...how should we than call christians: Russians and Italos? Yeah, but the thing is that before the Ottoman occupation, Bosnia was inhabited almost only by Croats and Serbs. The ottoman occupation just made a change in the main religion, but the people there are still mostly slavs. And I agree with you that those people that look up to Belgrade or Zagreb, should move to Serbia or Croatia, or just accept that their capital city is Sarajevo!
