  • That Jewfro is my friend, Dan...I'm the dude with ears next to him lol

  • 3 great guitarrists, the only difference between them is that Paul has the gift of the thing... We clearly see he was born to play guitar and nothing more.

  • @TMUSICIAN

Except for the fact that he also plays other instruments amazingly.

  • Is there a full video of this concert, or at least a longer version of this song ?

    I love Paul Gilbert's playing here !

  • i was there!

  • THANKS FOR ENDING THE VIDEO ON THE BEST PART OF THE SOLO,BITCH

    Dont upload the next time,please

  • @GabrielDhalaman2 Better that nothing.

  • Paul's music is very different from most other guitarists that's why some people say he has no feeling... it's just because they can't understand his music. Just my opinion.

  • is mt. fuji christmas?

  • Where can i find the rest of this song at Chicago? This is the only recording ive found that he string skips the arps in always with me, always with you.

  • @DillonBerkley yeah i want it too!! its such an amazing solo a get shivers evertime a listend to it!!

  • and people say he plays with no feeling... *facepalm*

    0:22 proves all haters wrong.

  • Best play of Paul Gilbert : 50 sec to 59 sec... Argggg, this is the end of this video. =(

  • watch JP here..

    youtube.com/watch?v=8C40xAZTg9o

  • Why'd it have to end?

  • i beg to differ, jimmy page is a much cleaner player now than he was "in his prime"

  • @EnragedOwl He was pretty bad in his prime, to be honest. Great musician, but Zeppelin played some really bad shows. Of course Zeppelin fanboys will argue this, but whatever.

  • sach rocks but he looks like the end of my penis, if my penis had sun glasses

  • send me the tab please

  • @CleverDjembe

Are you saying Paul Gilbert as no musicality in his playing?

  • @XxSameerxX

I commented before I knew what Gilbert is relly capable of. I think he's a great musician =)

  • @CleverDjembe

It's okay man, sorry to spark up something like that, I just get sensitive when it comes to Paul :)

  • WOW!! Is this available on DVD?

  • no unfortunately i havent found any of the new G3 with paul on dvd which really suck

  • Why do youtube videos always stop when they start to turn from good to awesome?

  • I think he only plays on one string. But its fantastic!

  • It's string skipping dude

  • amazin solo!

  • with satriani? wow!!! xDxD

  • this is random, but i wonder wat paul gilbert will be like at the age of like 75. i bet he could play as well as he can now with his feet

  • Well I think those musicians have already reach a point where they can't learn much more.

  • Until they invent the new thing to learn! lol

  • there's always something to learn/improve lol.

  • of course but the learning process is way slower than a beginner guitar player because they've already learned so much

  • True:)

  • I guess so, but our bodies have limits

  • We can only hope.

  • @dabom34 hes not getting much better, thats not how it works.. you get worse with age lol.. yngwie is much much worse then he was, and personally I think gilberts best solos were from early 90s.. type in "Paul Gilbert Crazy Solo" show me something as beastly as that from paul.. its all about how into the instrument you are, how much time you dedicate to it... which is why players like Anton Oparin, are so amazing.. and look at Andy Jmaes (imo best in the world) and young!

  • @dabom34

well if you look at videos of how he played when he was like 19 years you can se that he played more shreddy in those days, and i really think he was able to play faster in those days.

  • @dabom34 not true.. it has nothing to do with how long you play, sure you have more guitar knowledge but dexterity and skill is in practise.. for example Yngwie was better back in his older days

  • @alterbridge111 this is true, but yngwie is a rare example. So far, pauls musical knowledge and skill has far exceeded his expectations when he was in his 20's, and if he continues he will be an even better player. When hes 75, i doubt it, at that point physical barriers will most often prohibit new abilities. But really, the comment was just made to crack a few smiles :)

  • @dabom34 lol wrong again, type paul gilbert crazy solo, this is in 1991, he plays better here then in any other solo you can find.. and its because he played 10 hours every day

  • @alterbridge111 well, thats saying that fast=good. This is not true. Im sure he could have played faster then, but was able to achieve the tone and improvisional skills he has now. Paul can control his speed and now plays in a fashion that more people find apealling. That would be what i call getting better

  • @dabom34 ya true, but i do love me some fast shredding

  • @dabom34 WITH HIS FUCKING MIND!

  • 5 stars and favorited!!

what is name of this song,it is amazing :)

  • I think this is a Paul imrovising over a section from Joe Satriani's 'Always with you, always with me'. The original song is on Satch's 'Surfing with the Alien'.

  • Always with me always with you by Joe Satriani lol

  • if I remember correctly.. which I think I do.. this was an AWESOME show

  • Does those earphones (Direct sound Extreme Isolation EX-29) he uses eliminate the ringing?

  • PG told me at NAMM 08 that he wears his headphones because over the course of being in the business, he's gotten a lot of bad ear damage, so he uses them for looks as well as protection. More for protection.

  • 5 Stars and favorited ;-)

  • aww man .. the vid ends when the real beauty begins.. gotta love the way how pg outlines those chords with arpeggios !! amazing.

  • That's nothing new. That's just a ripoff of the keyboard line at the intro of Joe Cocker's version of "A Little Help From My Friends."

  • this solo was sooooooooooo mesmerizing

  • ok 2 things

I WISH I WERE THERE BECAUSE OF SATRIANI, PETRUCCI, AND GILBERT!!! THEYRE MY FAV GUITARISTS! ONE ONE STAGE!!!!!!!!

why does paul gilbert have the super giant retro headfones? i wonder what makes him like those so much (im super curious)

    *scratches chin*

  • those super giant retro headphones? to protect his hearing.

  • yea but john petrucci just uses little ear buds and he seems to do fine. same with satriani and most other guitarists

  • Paul Gilbert already has hearing damage, i believe it is called tinitus or something like that. He is half deaf on one ear, So he wants to be sure his ears are properly protected right now

  • oh wow, really!? jeez, that would suck to be half deaf in one ear. but thanks for the heads up on that.

  • and the reason he doesnt just use small plugs is because he IS retro and loves those headphones :P

  • he said in one of his videos its to protect his ears from the loud volumes of live concert... so he wont go deaf by the time his a guitar uber god of age 80... lol

  • He also takes them off between the songs or sometimes uncovers his right ear while playing - something you could hardly do with ear buds ;-)

gotta wonder now: does uncover the right one because it is deaf (so it cant be damaged further) or because it is not deaf (and he can still hear well with it) ...

  • paul gilbert is a guitar god!!! \m/

  • PG is the man.

  • no, spammer...

  • That's so badass

  • his facial expression scares me at 0:22 to 0:27

  • he is entering new dimension

  • The vortex captain , is opening.

  • I'm sorry for my hair bein in the way bro. :-P

  • this is an awesome solo

  • awesome! luv that guy :)

  • damm incredible solo, no full record and no dvd realease :/

  • ( this vid makes me so sad. some1 msg me!! xD j

  • There ya go! <3

  • this is a great video...but only if it didn't cut out as early..sick stuff

  • I hope so, but since yet there aren't any news for a dvd

  • is this going to be release on dvd?

  • Best ever!

  • That lick in the end is so brilliant !!

  • I won't lie, it literally hurts that the rest of this song wasn't recorded! Absolutely beautiful.

  • Yeah, The end of that solo would have been great to hear because he was outlining those chord changes beautifully! He can make even that stuff sound "pop" because he's so fluid with it. It might as well be a piano player playing that line.

  • Well said mate, I cannot agree more. Even the beginning of this video, I'm still baffled how something so simple can sound so fantastic.

  • why does paul always wear those headphones! if he didnt then he would hear everybody cheering for him

  • He probably hears them cheering anyway.

  • true

  • its to protect his ears, they are rather sensetive (perhaps the reason he has perfect pitch)

  • even when hes doing explanations?

  • his hearing is screwed so he's protecting what he has left. it's on his site somewhere

  • oh ok

  • He's partially deaf. He had a perforated eardrum. Although, he's had corrective surgery, so it may be a bit better now. But, the cans are for hearing protection.

  • He's spent too many night cuddling up to his Amp.. He has a perforated eardrum so what hearing he has left I guess he wants to keep!

  • Cuddling up to his amp is not quite the right phrase, but...lol

You are correct. You restated what I said at the bottom of the page. Your point? : )

  • Sorry, I hadn't seen it.

  • It's cool : )

  • satriani is the weak link in g3...there, i said it...

  • i love the way he plays guitar in this youtube video...that's my favourite part...

  • uh oh i think paul stole the show and the song like how jimi stole along the watchtower from bob dylan.

  • najveci kralj!

  • najveci da!

    Kako super svira!

  • this song is called " always with me, always with you" by Joe Satriani, i Think..

    im not sure.

  • Yes, It Is An Improv Of "Always With Me, Always With You"

  • Is it some kind of song? Does it have a name?

  • JP and satch both have balls to even have PG on a G3... he could put any guitarist on earth under some very bad lighting in a heartbeat haha

  • too true! paul gilbert rocks ass! i saw him and satch last night, satch said paul's playing keeps him awake at night. enough said!

  • Gilbert's tone is perfect, amazing for shred... but i really hate it when do a bend.

Now that he change ampli (Marshall), is a little better.

  • Gilbert Fucked his ears up with tinitus because he plays to high end and loud.

  • yep, anyways gilbert kick ass men, great artist

  • If you read the reviews of people who were actually at the shows you would see that Gilbert most definitely belongs on stage with Satriani. They're saying he was awesome, and the videos I have seen of the show confirm that.

  • You obviously know very little of what Paul Gilbert is capable of.

  • i hate you. Paul is my idol.

  • That riff at 0:50 is beautiful.

  • Someone told me that he's troubles in the ears =/

  • Why is Paul always wearing those headphones?

  • He's got tenitus

He's become deaf in one ear from all the concerts he played through his life ,

Yngwie M had it aswell but it went because he ate loads and loads of bananas haha

  • Eric Johnson's also got tenitus in his left ear as well.

  • the dvd!!!!

    when??????????????????

    T-T

  • Paul plays like Joe :) Cool and very groove !

    I love you JOE !

  • THIS IS NOT COMPLETE! WHYYYYYYYYY???? THAT WAS AMAZING.

If anyone filmed this solo completely or longer, please deliver, I beg of you.

  • please reply me why paul become solo?and what happenned bo mr big band?

  • ritchie kotzen replaced paul in mr big,

    paul is solo AND with racer x;

solo he gets to be fully expressive in his writing

  • Is this like a no name song or does it have name?

    It sounds awesome!

  • always with me, always with you

    by joe satriani

  • paul gilbert = the sultan of string skipping

  • wow this is fucking amazing feel

  • WHere's the rest of the video??? Post the whole song man!

  • where is this?

  • chicago

  • I can't I'm sorry my camera sucks and only takes a minute of video at a time

  • dude i was like two rows of people right behind you

  • shit it stops at the beginning of the best PART !!!

  • i'd like to see marty friedman on g3

  • Holy God has John Petrucci been roiding?

  • still looks fat to me

  • nope, natural gain

  • too short!

  • That was simply put...Genius! The way I was lured into it by his slow slightly off key section at the start.. He teeters and he totters and is then freed by the power, leading to an explosion of a cascading credenza of raw anthemic proportions!!

  • credenza?

  • credenza; musical term for a solo spot where a musician shows their technical skills (came from my old study notes)

  • credenza; a type of sideboard used in domestic or restaurant situations. In dining rooms, it is typically made from wood and used as a platform to serve buffet meals. In restaurant kitchens, made from stainless steel, it provides a side surface and storage cupboards.

you are thinking of a cadenza..

  • yes I am, I read cadenza instead LOL

that's what i get for not paying attention

  • i wish Vai was on G3....no i dont since hes not hes coming to Milwaukee and I'm going to see him!

  • what were the songs the whole G3 group played together? they never came to calgary :(

  • cuz he is trying to be cool and point at shit while do hammer ons hahhaha wtf i figured you meant the string skipping, i still think TIMMONS would have been better, and DAMN shame Vai DIDNT do the tour i think he had some other tour in europe some where cant remember really

  • Its a shame only 3 can be on G3, I think Gilbert and Timmons playing together with Joe in G3 would be pretty cool, but Vai too, and... Ah sucks that there can only be 3. I think Paul did pretty well for G3, especially with Bruce by his side.

  • I mean, this video is sick! Someone explain to me why he looks so cool between 0:20 and 0:26?

  • I was at this show too

  • uh yeah right i can play minor pentatonic and lydian scales all day long too dumbass if you practice its not that hard to fucking do you dont know shit shut the fuck up

  • That video stops at the best moment......bummer....

  • fuck you u dont know what timmons is capable of gilbert licks ass for g3 shouldnt even bee a contender

  • settle down girls....

Merci d'avance.

  • hey back the fuck off eddie hes a legend, GILBERT sux fuckin dick man should of had timmons in there instead of his Goofy Ass

  • You obviously have no idea who Gilbert is or what he is capable of with a guitar, or for that matter who his main influence is
