One of my favorite movies and Robert Duvall gave such a great performance in that movie. This is my favorite song from the movie and Robert Duvall has such a great singing voice. Thank you for putting this song on here I am really enjoying hearing it again.
just to let you know, Lefty did not write that song, my Grandpa did..Weldon Riddle...as far fectched as it sounds...my grandpa played with many artists back in the day..have pics and recordings to prove...i have a pic of him on stage with George Jones...he played that song "Reality" to a certain person one night whom had brought the whiskey (grandpa was a drinker) and had also hidden a recorder under grandpas chair..the rest you can figure out
Thank you,I tried to play this from memory, and was slightly successfull, now i can play it the beautiful way it was meant to be played. I thank you,my wife thanks you, but best of all my grandkids get to hear thier pappa sing it right..you have no idea of the positive impact you've made!!!! THank you!!!!
You are more than welcome and thank you for the great comment on the wonderful Robert Duvall, actor, singer and all around amazing peformer and who is mainly responsible for the fine movie, "Tender Mercies".I hope you upload your performance and send it to me.
Incredible performance. Note the lyrics; he can no more can control her than he can control the drifting clouds. What a rich soulful performance and this song is one of my favorites of all time
Tender Mercies was the last movie my husband watched together soon after he passed away. It was on TCM last night which was two years from the day he died. So today I have tried to find the songs in the movie. Thanks form my heart for sharing this. Vivian
I am so sorry for your loss. How hard it must be. You can find a couple other songs from "Tender Mercies" on my channel; it was also one of my all time favorite movies. My best wishes to you.
@viv062540 I so sorry for your loss. I lost my wife 3 years ago and I still feel the pain of her passing. Our fond memories and the time we spend with a loved one are all we have left to hold on too, and let's not forget God's Tender Mercies :) Be blessed.......
I once owned a cassette tape of what they claimed was the soundtrack- without Betty Buckley. I lost it long ago and it was never released in CD. A shame, as Robert Duval could have made it as a singer.
A man of many talents, one of my favorite actors. I was lucky enough to have a remake of the CD (without Betty Buckley) ,,,I am glad I have the video of this wonderful movie. I agree with you. C.
I only got these songs in bits and pieces years ago...there seems to be no official sound track, though Amazon has a few of the songs from the movie...you could try googling it for sources. Good luck! C.
I must see "Tender Mercies". This is my kind of song...very pathos-filled. Didn't even know the Duvallster could sing - right up there with Clint Eastwood's "I Talk To The Trees" and Lee Marvin's "Wandering Star". R.D. should have done some warbling in "Lonesome Dove". Five lone prairie stars. Cordially, John
Yes, John, you MUST see Tender Mercies. Incredible film. What I remember about 3rd grade was finding out that boys could pee uphill. Education is a wonderful thing. xxxClaudia
It hurts so much to face reality how true thank you for bringing back many memories
