  • Loved it

  • Respect is the universal criterion. Don't be a smart ass.

  • dude i freaking love this!

  • You guys sound good but you are not Herbie Hancock. Show some respect and respect yourselves by puting your own band name in the post FIRST, then the name of the song and the artist who wrote it.

  • @elbowzone I wasn't aware there was Criteria for titles...

  • You guys are bad-asses...great sound and great tune! Where do you play?

  • im playing this song today infront of my whole school with a sax player, a bass player and a trumpet player. i shall be on the drums :))

  • @conmanconnor69 sweet....im actually audtioning for a band with this song...i play tenor sax

  • @TenorSaxBreed good luck :) and great job

  • @TenorSaxBreed What happened to your phone you deserter!!!!!???

  • n1 ;) keep rockin

  • Good... Lay back. and turn down your guitar when you're playing rhythm.

  • funktastic

  • Naranjitos orientales

  • Turn the Bass up!

  • @myaccpwnsurs no kidding bass is one of the best parts of this song! I was lucky enough to play this song at multiple venues. Each time we performed the bass would be cranked up so the room was vibrating, and everybody who watched loved it!!!

  • guys, you 're so great. long live to a good music and good musicians. bless you from brazil!!!

  • song for improheros

  • sick...... its so fun what u can do with this song.

  • @Nicole: Okkk. Whatever you say. But this is still just funk, only reason you know it. Your middle school can't do grown up jazz. When you play miles davis better than these guys probably can, speak

  • wow! that's it!

  • @Jasfss94 What do you mean by "just funk" ? The fact that you would even use a term like "grown up jazz" shows your immaturity.

  • @Jasfss94 so, wtf is grown up jazz? like, you have to be a certain age to be allowed to play, listen and unterstand it? i really can't understand the wall of separation, you are building right here.

  • ok i guess

  • im only gonna say two words BOO YA

  • our jazz band does it WAY better sorry guys but we do! we rock the roof off the school!and a bass player is better and we are a middle school!

  • send me a link whenever you get a recording of your jazz band on youtube

  • keep it tight!

  • Awesome you guys are really talented and that is one sick guitarist

  • too fast... does not settle in a pocket like the intentions of the music. Other than that, aight job.

  • have you ever heard the original... its suppose to b an up beat tune. fail...

  • @kellenhesseltine have you ever heard the original? its by herbie hancock (incase you didnt know).

  • rofl shut the fuck up these guys kicked ass

  • @holytiamat777 who brought in waffles?

  • Cool :)

  • So nice :)

  • Lol is this guy realy plYING THE LEAD GUITAR UPSIDE DOWN?? oR IS IT ME!? (oO) he is Left handed...

iT LOOKS AKWARD BUT SOUNDS FRIGGIN AMAZING

    Props!

  • hendrix style, bro.

  • @sabueso32 brolito

  • great phrase at 3:23, less talented player but at least more original.

  • great point...

  • I need to be in this class. I live in Mission Viejo area and am hoping to go up to school at USC. Great playing. This is my all time favorite style of playing i would do anything to get a band together like this

  • I like this band..I have a similar :D

  • This Vince (Drummer) is very talented, you know.

  • drummer is a fuckin beast

  • so. i wish i had an acid jazz class....

this is my favourite jazz song of all time...

actually, probably my favourite song of all genres of all time

  • tight!

    very funky guitar playing :)

  • if there was a class like this in my school, id sign up early. great job!

  • it would sound better if the solo on guitar at the beginging was either in a higher octave with an empasized jazz guitar or you get it on a sax

  • The bass was a little off time in the beginning, but no one that isn't a dedicated musician would notice. Great job otherwise, super funky!

  • Awesome. I visisted MI a couple months ago, and it was amazing. How do you like going there?

  • You guys are good! Keep it up.

  • Sick drummer -- great timing on an even greater song choice

  • You are students???!!! In my area the professional jazzers couldn't live with this!!

  • Great performance. 4/5, only because you NEED to get some more key action in there. Blast some more organ notes, get the synth bass poppin, and maybe throw in some lead action, and you should be perfect XD

  • Wow this was amazing

  • damn this is fucking badass as shit man. Wish I had a damn class this cool. Our jazz band class was filled with an arogant drummer who couldn't play worth the shit, no bass player (WTF!!!), pretty good keyboard player but had terrible stage fright, and I was the only one who wanted to play stuff. This is more than awesome guys. Drummer is nothing more than perfect for this music. Guitar players were good and funky, and bass and keyboard kicked major ass as well. Fantastic job. Favorited as well.

  • yeah i know what you mean. our jazz band class was like that for a while. but luckily this year we have an incredible drummer and a skilled bassist. im proud to say im the guitarist for them .=)

  • ...can you not here the bass line in the beginning of the song?

and do u not see the korg and kawai things in the front called the keyboard?

  • Holy, this is hot!

  • cool!!!

    nice stuff!!!

  • very cool !! congrat´s from spain.

  • 11/10 ... great, great stuff ... RESPECT !!!!

  • Bravo - nicely done. Excellent drumming!

  • Great jam! faster tempo than the actual song but it flows real nice.

  • There needs to be a rating higher then 5 stars, specifically for this video.

  • Great stuff, I love that no one is overplaying, especially the drummer. So many funk drummers just play a bunch of useless shit over the groove. This drummer kills it, super funky. that snare is tuned perfectly by the way.

  • Hey Groovemax you´ve hit the nail on the head with your comment

  • "This is a class?!?!? You lucky bastards.

Oh, and props to the soloists for knowing what dorian mode is. Good job, guys. "

    123 & word.

  • Oh, and props to the soloists for knowing what dorian mode is. Good job, guys.

  • This is a class?!?!? You lucky bastards.

  • good old stinky armpit funk! Great jam. great playing.

  • It's so rare to see a YouTube cover that actually does justice to a great song. You guys are so tight and funky it's not even funny. Great job!

  • Dang you guys got groove!

  • SOUNDS LIKE THE MAN HIMSELF

  • keys are awesome

  • Siiiiick!!!

  • I love the sound of the snare

  • great song

    i can play this too

    nice job

  • This is hott! Very difficult song to keep up with!

  • wicked. A lot of the covers of this song i've heard have had terrible solos (particularly the written one in the big band arrangement that my school has used) but your solos have the funk, particularly the 1st solo (but this might have been because the 2nd one wasn't quite loud enough - either turn up volume or turn down everybody elses)

  • (and the drum fill at the beggining was hot stuff as well)

  • i thought i was the only one who thought that!! the drummer is so talented!

  • man ya'll hit the groove dead on. i gotta give you props on that.

the only suggestion i can give is to not be so afraid to go outside on the solos and stay a lil longer. adds a lil more tension to it. but ya'll absolutely kilt it as far as the feeling on it.

  • great groove, guys, keep it!

  • eric..where r u now?

    r u from hk?/korea?

  • im from taiwan . but im in L.A

  • Nice work /bow

  • That band has chops.. Nice cover

  • very nice!

  • うわっ!!!もりあがるなぁ。

    You are the best !

  • Nice..Very cool,boy|

  • i like the song alot better by herbie but i think its just cuz i like the keys to be predominant, cuz that was a really good performance

  • GREAT PLAYING Berklee and MI two places that launch you!:D

  • I've got a question for you, which tonality is it?

'Cos I'd like to jam along the song =)

    thanks

  • You're great, I hope I'll have a band like this...

And I want to play acid jazz =)

  • Kick Azz Drummer! Funk on!

  • BASS SOLO!

  • very nice indeed

  • drummer is a win.

    so much soul.

  • definitely

  • vamos los ponjasss, muy buen cover

  • if i search i find only old jazz, but i want this gitar and drums!...can someone tell me some other bands who play exactly this way ?

  • yes..hmm Soulive is a really good acid-jazz band . and hmm.also Meters you can check them out as well . John Scofield . Grant Green.

  • hey thanks 4 reply, i check them out thanks very much ! :)

  • try out a record label called 'ninja tunes' they have many a good artist: mr scruff, funky porcini...

  • You should check out guitarist Eric Krasno, organist Robert Walter, saxophonicist Skerik, drummers Adam Deitch, Johnny Vidacovich and Stanton Moore. They've played together in various set-ups, e.g. Fantastic Four, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, Garage a Trois, and Coalition of the Willing.

Some of it is acid, some of it is more 'punk jazz', but if you like acid I think you'll at the very least find it interesting.

(Sorry about the double post, misplaced it the first time)

  • THE SUPREME QUARTET

  • You forgot Karl Denson and his band Greyboy Allstars. :)

  • daje gialli!!!!

  • u giallo!!!

  • that drummer is pretty intense. It certainly adds a great new sound to this old classic.

  • this is so good...

  • herbie hancock is proud..

  • Pretty much every band that I've seen is trying to play this song. Every band has their own version of this song. When I first heard it I thought it was cut the cake. But I really like this song. Good song for the guitar. I just love the guitar in it too.

  • Not bad at all!!

  • that drummer is off the hook. awsome rendition

  • Very solid groove guys. Elegant drummer.

  • Great man. I love hearing this tune with a guitar. Even as hot as it was when it first came and as much me and buddies listened to it, I always wished that Herbie had recorded it with a guitarist as well. It's perfect for a funky jazz guitar solo like you took. Love it. Cool man.

  • yer i agree

    its a gr8 guitar lick

    i prefer it with wah

but that guitarist has gr8 feel

  • man freakin sweet version. the drummer sounds alot like Mike Clark!

  • yeah !

  • There wouldn't happen to be any commercial CD's with that drummer, would there?

  • Wow, that drummer is solid. I'd love to hear him play some afrobeat.

  • That was awesome guys, sweet groove.

    Greets

  • ridiculously amazing drummer - so much rhythm

  • Sweet.

  • Great!

  • man that drummer is the shit

  • sure thing!

jamiroquai is a great band, but really appeared quite late, and you shouldn't forget other bands less hyped but still founders of the genre.

check out jazzhole - shining star

    now that's acid jazz!

and yeah this band is great:)

  • Acid Jazz started during the 80's with groups like Incognito, Galliano and others.

Jamiroquai appeared in the 90's ...

  • can anyone give me the names of some acid jazz bands please!

  • amazin shit

    but

acid jazz was the genre created by jamiroquai, so technically anything before jamiroquai isnt acid jazz.

but they, this stuff is shit hot, herbie hancock rules

  • good stuff!

  • This is Fuck'in HOT! Good shit Guys!

  • AHahaha

  • good job. very tight band.check out ours. search for funk factor ukm. please post comment.

  • Thats really cool guys. You catz can play.

  • Cool

    Sit back, relax,

    Listen to the A-tracks

  • forte!bravi

  • good stuff

  • thaT's good

  • Acid Jazz = Funk

    just named something else

  • acid jazz often has more electronic material than funk, like samples or dj scratching, and is infused with pop. but it's definitely funkay.

  • No way. Funk is distinct from acid jazz. Listen to some George Clinton and then listen to this and THEN tell me its the same.

  • Yeah FUNK is nothing like this!

  • wow....um... do you have ears?

  • soo wrong LOL! this is the only "acid jazz" you've ever heard, i'm positive.

  • Who says you can't teach rock n roll..

  • these guys are good!!!!

  • Man, that brightened up my day.
