  • Ive run most versions of Linux in Virtual Machines, and in all of them I've been able to get Compiz Fusion working. The only one I can't seem to figure out how to turn on Compiz is Xubuntu 9.10. I have the Compiz settings manager installed, does any1 know how to turn on the advanced effects?

  • Ubuntu and Xubuntu are SO much better than windows in general haha... I mean, these effects are pretty killer, and for free! :)

  • will this work on a windows xp deluxe 3d system amd sempron processor 1.60 GHz 950 mb of ram

  • Can sum1 help me....i have ubuntu installed on my computer but i dont really no how to use it dat much....iv watched loads of videos on it and nun of dem helped=[Email at oisingough@live me if you can help

    Tanxs a bunch :]

  • Nice. If possible, please post a guide to setup something like that; some not-so-old machines in my job could benefit greatly from Xubuntu with Desktop Effects ^^.

  • It's pretty easy.

Do a google search for Xubuntu.

Download the ISO use an ISO program to get the files on a CD.

Boot of the CD see if you like it if you do.

    Double click the install button.

Sorry I can't be more help. I don't have time to post a video right now (got GCSEs horrible things)

  • looking great, repping the xfce!

  • 2 questions:

    1. How did you install candido on xubuntu? Any guide?

    2. what media player do you use?

  • 1) You should just be able to untar the candido theme into your .themes folder and it should work.

    2) mplayer (without gui)

  • How did you enable this cool effect to switch between windows ? Is it an option in the "Animations" plugin ?

  • Do you mean the dodge effect? Yeah, go to Animations > Focus Animation > double click on that line and select dodge.

  • Thanks!

  • Looks good, what background/themes are you using?

  • Thanks...Candido GTK2 theme, and Lux emerald theme. Forgot where I got the background though.
