I love Ansermet. Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony on vinyl, ( Decca LL 1633) is my favorite.

Thank you very much for the news on the CD release and this great document. I have only La mer by Ansermet and was interested in knowing about his German repertory. As the other comments say, the orchestra is not what it is today but the conduct line is so clear that the performance stands very well.

Dear folks,

This month I found out that Decca released a ton of Ansermet's recordings [June 2010]. The symphonies of Brahms, Beethoven, and some Schumann are available in the 2 CD albums which list for about $18 on Amazon. I am getting them cheaper.

I always consider that Ansermet was as great as Toscanini who ignored Ansermet's famous French and Russian repertoire. Decca also released a number of these terrific albums. Happy listening

Ansermet was so terribly precise, yet flexible musically and had a gorgeous feel for line. Equally at home with Brahms or Stravinsky.

He does a miraculous job here. How he would love to see how the NHK has changed and improved!

Ansermet is also a great, great interpreter of Beethoven . Unfortunately almost none are available on CD. His Symphony 5 is perfection itself.

Ansermet deserves to have many of his great recordings available on YouTube; if you or someone could share his Falla:Three Cornered Hat, Ravel Orchestral Works, and Albeniz IBERIA it would be heaven!

If you can find it, get the Orfeo release of the same work with Ansermet and a European Orchestra (can't remember which one). As good or better than this, and incredibly good sound
