  • my fire department still uses the same setup when we have a fire call.

  • nice setup

  • That's cool but it sounds like you need to adjust the speed. It's ringing the alarm in pretty slow.

  • thats the ticker tape register. it is spring loaded it pushes the paper though.

  • What's making the loud rumbling or motor0like noise that I can hear both with the bell and without it ringing?

  • now all you need to do it get that fire horn to blow box 27 out

  • @Heyde1979 Actually, all have have to do is run a wire and i can. i have a tank all set up for the horn. However, it's 20 gal tank and only get 2 good blasts then it sounds like a bionic fart

  • are you going to buy a larger tank so you can get a good set of blasts

  • maybe some day if i come a cross a larger tank....there is a recycling place not far from me i should see if they have some tanks.

  • @Heyde1979 The diaphone is sitting there next to the bell.

  • @Audinos its not hooked up in order work with the telegraph

  • what bell u use

  • that is a gamewell 10 inch gong

  • thank u

  • Does the 10'' bell go inside the Master Box?

  • yes....i ran the wire to the + and - on the bottom of the box next to the telegraph key

  • @DVaccarelli1988 the goes in the fire station and is in plain view just as shown here

  • those were the good old days

  • we still use them in north central connecticut at Hamilton Sundstrand

  • Yes, the diaphone, bell, and register tape all go off at the same time. Volunteer firefighters would count the number of blasts to fimd out where the fire was. Or if they were in the fire station they would count the bells or just look at the punches on the paper. There are still some F.D's around here that still use this system as well as pagers.

  • Southeastern Connecticut fire departments still use them. We just tested our system the other day at the Stonington Borough Fire Department. We still have the complete set up.

  • Get that on video....sooner or the later, the bean counters are going to look for something to cut and this is why most of america has removed them. Do you have a diaphone horn that sounds as well? That is awesome that it is still working!!

  • Yeah, we have the diaphone, ticker-tape tapper, and a bell that's located upstairs in the hall outside the day room and bunk rooms. All of it still works and I am the one who winds the bell and ticker-tape mechanisms periodically after every few alarms.

  • It's this what they use to call the fire department using the diaphone horn?
